yeah... that's pretty limited choice. I mean, yaeh, 2 of those are worth getting for me, but all the others are tripe.

And no bestbuys are around me.

Only two of those am I going to buy when they're relatively new. Others I might buy later, but will probably only rent, and others yet I don't give a toss about. Beyond that, who has $300 dollars to spend on games in that short a span?

Couldn't one just pre-order 5, then return the ones they don't want immedatly after they come out?
It says pre-order AND buy. So no, unfortunately they saw that one coming.

Tempting... but i'll stick to Steam for my game purchases. I like them more. Besides, I only really would want maybe one of those games badly enough to preorder it. The rest are just fancy prizes.

Deus Ex and Mass Effect 3 not being on that list kinda kills it. :s

You could look at this as a buy 3 get 1 1/2 free sort of deal i guess? I dunno other than Batman and Resistance (and even that's iffy) none of those are titles i'm super thrilled about) I've never been a fan of pre ordering I don't know what finacial state i'll be in at that point. Ya know?

So you're saying that if you were planning to buy those 5 games, you would buy them somewhere else and NOT get the $100? You are a financial whiz, good sir. Unless you can find a place that sells the games for under $40 new, Best Buy is going to be the cheapest option.
Surprisingly, a lot of places will sell them under $40 new. You just need to wait a year or so. These are a luxury item afterall, not a necessity. With a little time, they will all drop in price until they are somewhere more reasonable (typically $10 to $40) for a new copy.
Well by that logic then you're still a sucker. Why buy it at $40 when you could wait until $20? Why buy it at $20 when you can probably get it for free eventually? Perhaps my point should have specified "on day one". If you already had every intention of buying 5 of those games on day one, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better deal than this one.

Well, except Skyward Sword. Being a Nintendo Publication, it will never drop its debut price.
Because we all know that Microsoft and Sony franchises have never been guilty of this.

Well, you could still buy them, then go back the next day...

Aww fudge. We don't have a best buy.

I have never cared until recently. It was the Brink pre-order bonus. At best buy it was a fallout pack (I am a huge fallout fan) but at EB it was Doom. Guess it was still a nice gift (free after all) but I don't like Doom. I wanted Fallout. sigh.

Apparently not enough to draw my attention. Sony, because frankly I can't point out many games I know to be published by of the SCE branches. Two do spring to mind, but they were twenty and thirty dollars when I bought my new copies, and more recently offered for free as part of the PSN's Welcome Back program. Go figure.

As for Microsoft, I do not own their flagship console and thus have no real reason to watch pricing for their titles. A quick browse shows Halo 3 and ODST to be down to $20. Reach is still at debut price, but it technically is not a year old yet.

And I am shocked. Twilight Princess has actually dropped in price, down to twenty. But Super Mario Galaxy 1 and Smash Bros. Brawl, still remain at $50.

Yeah, I guess, but it would seem mighty suspicious. Oh well, if you wanna try it then go ahead and see if it works.

I used to shop at Best Buy all the time. Giving me a Best Buy gift card was as good as cash. But that was years ago. Years ago before Amazon.com and most importantly, Amazon's Prime membership. I'm probably only getting one or two of those games on that list, anyway, so the promotion doesn't do a lot for me.

This deal would be a good deal at gamestop where games can be found well under 20 bucks (although they would probably have there own measures to make sure they don't hemorrhage money from smart consumers) but at best buy a place where most stuff is usually charged at release date price. Ehh. sounds like a bad deal.

And I'm planning on getting exactly four of those (Skyward Sword, Uncharted 3, Assassin's Creed: Revelation, Skyrim, and Arkham City).
That's 5 games.
You're right. I typed four for some reason. Probably because I'm still not really sold on Arkham City.

Normally, I would dismiss this as a clear cash grab on Best Buy's part. Giving you a hundred bucks that you have to spend in their store anyway is a small price to pay for locking you in to purchase 300$ worth of stuff from them.

But, this may be the first time in history that there are actually five upcoming games I would feel good about pre-ordering.

By the way, to anyone that thinks giving away store credit is a charitable thing for a company to do, let me say this: I worked at Best Buy years ago, and store credit and gift cards are a huuuuge part of their business. Why? Because studies show people with store credit/gift cards almost always spend more than the amount allotted on those cards. ie, somebody who walks in with a 100$ gift card is liable to actually end up purchasing 130-150$ worth of goods.

I work for best buy, and this is one of our major promotions. Also, we now do game trade-ins, if you didn't know. But you don't have to put it towards a new game, you can use it for anything in the store (including games, if you want).

This is truth all around.
