I've got a degree now, but I'm still pissed off that I HAD to do French and Design Technology for my GCSEs. They were both my lowest grades (a D and an E). I would have taken History and Geography instead.

The fuck has this all to do with computer science? Sure, not all is mandatory, but you STILL HAVE TO SELECT and finish a crap from such plates or you're screwed.

Never liked math, but especially not this year. The teacher feels the need to yell, and I mean yell, every piece of information at us. Once, while bored, I leaned against the wall of her classroom, in the hallway. The door was shut. I heard every single word she said incredibly clearly

Intro to Engineering Design ("IED, it's the bomb!" quickly became an in-joke among us) started off fun, but quickly turned to shit. We started with all these brainstorming sessions about improving products, giving presentations, all kinds of awesome things. And then we started learning how to draw. Isometric drawings weren't bad, because we had special paper for them, but hated the rest of them. Perspective, oblique, everything was horrible. I hate drawing...

Physical Education. I am something of an intellectual, and I always hated being required to engage in physical activity.

For the course I'm doing it had to be statistics - I'm doing biology and had to do equation after equation with a lecturer who's gender we could never work out bitching at us day in day out

Spanish 2 sucks, but only because of the teacher. She's way too strict. Students in her class can only use the bathroom once a month. She'll actually take points off your grade if you do (because some class in my school have "Employability Skills" as part of the grade). She also has one of the thickest accents I have ever heard. Lastly, if you ask her for help or for the definition of a word, she'll say "I'm not a dicionario, look it up."

I actually want to learn Spanish, but she makes it more painful than pulling teeth.

Seriously I don't get how people understand it. My class certainly didn't, they all got similar results too.

Hi from a British uni. For me it's got to Astrophysics and Space Science. The topic itself is awesome, time dilation, huge differences in space, black holes etc. But the teacher has such a thick (chinese) accent and uninspired lecturing style that I find myself being more productive and overall more awake by going on my laptop and reading Cyanide and Happiness while briefly reading the lecture notes supplied by the Uni.

So yeah, only negative is the lecturer. Otherwise, Go to Uni (or college) kids! It rocks!

It has no bearing on your future, teaches you nothing you can use in real life and is more often than not completely out of touch with modern day views.

I don't know about what you study in this class, but no matter what you do, you will have to be able to express yourself in writing. It sounds like this class is just to make sure all of the graduates know how to write a decent paper.

Simple as this sounds, this is a problem in some schools.

A public speaking class I had to take. It helped none and people could skip out on their presentation without their grade being affected. If that weren't the case, I'd say it was good, but... yeah. =|

I hate Computing Studies. Mostly because I know more than the teacher, and I don't want to do anything involving computers anyway. I don't like maths much, but again, that's due to my maths teacher being almost completely retarded.

I either want to do Astrophysics or medicine. I've had an offer from Edinburgh university so that I can apply for medicine next year if I achieve my projected grades... so that's incentive enough to do well in CS and maths.

My Crappy Classes:

Media Studies: Sort of interested in part-time writing for 'mo money at some point, hence I chose this. Turns out to be arsing around with cameras and making Powerpoints. Probably my fault for picking it really.

Sociology: The Teacher is a great guy, the lesson however, is boring. It's essentially "Poor people steal cars, rich people avoid tax".

English: I love English, and again, the Teacher is fantastic, but I honestly feel that I don't need the lesson anymore, and the more I do it, the more bored I become. Plus we have debates, and the last thing anyone in their right mind should want is to listen to my classmate's opinions.

Citizenship: Oh dear God where to you begin. Citizenship is a recycling of a few scraps of shockingly bad ideas from indefinite points in time, nailed into the education system as mandatory because the British public thinks that anybody under the age of 26 is a serial killer/rapist, and somebody somewhere needs to have it look like they're at least trying to do something about it; that's what the course looks like anyway.

And finally the IT Course has you Screenshot yourself using a Search Engine, to show that you can do it. Yep. Really.

I used to have to do a class called P.S.H.E, which changed its name to Pastoral Care, which changed its name to Learning for Life and Work. Completely useless.did it for 4 or 5 years and learned very little. It was one of those "Don't do drugs, don't have unprotected sex, don't be racist" classes where we learned the same thing in every class. Also my teacher gave us the biggest piece of coursework we've ever had to do and then told us she'd given us wrong instructions and we had to scrap the whole thing and do it again.

Religion was even worse but I could write paragraphs just about how awful my teacher for religion was, but I won't.

As for those people complaining about those courses which don't directly influence your career, cry more. I'd rather have a society of Renaissance Men than a bunch of specialists with narrow minds and no desire to learn anything outside their field.

To a point I agree, but the compulsory RE short course taught at GCSE level is a pile of balls. I think a more philosophy and ethics based course would be brilliant.

I study Earth Sciences at university, so I don't have any class bothers, but back in 6th Form I hated chemistry. I got an A, but I got through most of it by only having a half understanding of what's going on. Everything slipped out of my head immediately; the only reason I got any grade at all is through ridiculous amounts of revision.
