A concern about befriending

If you befriend me first and we get along, I'll befriend you. That has been my age old philosophy. Talking to them... well, I'm not that good at starting conversations. I'll continue if I can think of anything to say. Yes, I know that I'm not good at socializing.

I usually only befriend people who are in my current RP, so I can be lazy and see who are online in one go.

Outside that...Not too many friends, but I converse with my current ones quite a lot.

Every person on my friends list befriended me first. I have spoken to a few of them by private message but not the majority.

I usually add people after a good discussion on a thread or if I'm RPing with them, but I don't really PM a lot of people. Probably something I should work on...

I think I've only friended one person after they PM'd me about not having any friends and asked if I would be their friend. I still talk to that person, mostly on MSN now.
Other people have added me, and I friended them back, it's the least I can do. I do talk to some of them still, others haven't been on in a while though. I only have about 24 friends so it's easy to keep track of them... [small]That sounds very stalkerish[/small]. I mean I remember the names of people who have friended me, how often we talk etc.

I have no idea how the hell max does it with his 430+ friends.

EDIT:
I add the people who add me and other people who I find "interesting" (don't look at me like I'm a stalker!). Most of my friends here are members of the same group though, so instead of PM's, we just talk in the chat.
