She ... asked me if I'm also a soldier.
OH GOD. I didn't see that with my first read. Good eye!

[EDIT] Although "also a soldier" could be either referring to herself or to the balaclava'd man.[/EDIT]

Almost certainly. Sadly, it is also almost certain that I would not notice that she was trying to manipulate me considering the situation. I would if I had half a second to think things through, but if I can't think something through I'm stupid easy to manipulate.

The problem is, almost everything she does could be explained individually. It's only the sum of the inconsistencies that reveals her.

Oh, and the kicker? If she wasn't there, I'd simply have put my hands behind my head and gotten on my knees. Hell, I'd probably have done that if she hadn't asked me to get her out of there. Despite my awareness of the manipulation, I'm still victim to it.

Well naturally I'd hand it back to her, with her skillful loading and whatnot, and go 'I was always a shit cadet.'

I'd try to talk to the man in the balaclava. I mean, really, how do we know he's the bad guy? As far as I know the girl is the bad guy. Maybe I can play them against each other with my city-kid charm. Or something.

Realistically, I would turn my head to look between the two of them, eyes going wide before they narrow in bemusement. Then, flicking my stare to the girl, I would lift my shoulders in the universally (by that I mean the western world) accepted gesture of indecision and say: "What the fuck?"

edit - ah, the girl asked if you're also a soldier, implying that she is one. However, in my state of shock I wouldn't notice that, but it's evidence of some kind.

For starters I wouldn't have taken the gun, if for the sake of the scenario I have to have the gun. I would put it away or hand it back to her. Then stand straight up, place myself in between the girl and the 'terrorist,' and look directly into his eyes. I would then say whatever first came to mind, which would likely be something along the lines of "why?"

I would definitely flick the safety off and take a ready grip on the weapon, pointing it in the direction of the man with the rifle. If the rifle barrel came towards me at all, I'd shoot him. I'm not ashamed to admit I'll put my life ahead the life of a random stranger.

As to the woman, I would be very fucking curious what the fuck is going on, but she handed me the handgun, so she has at least a little bit of my trust. It's not the average enemy who's going to arm you and ask you to save them and then kill you. That said, as soon as the immediate threat was over, there would be some serious question time.

Also, I do know how to handle a pistol. I'm an American redneck and I am intimately familiar with firearms.

I'd probably take the hero's route and do what I can in the present situation. Although I'm not all experience in fire arms, my aim in Paintball and soft rifles is pretty good. I feel like I could get a few shots before the threatening looking individual could notice that I'm armed and take a couple of precise shoots to leave him incapacitated/dead. I'd ask the girl if she can use a rifle (because her line is pretty suspicious) and either hand it to her, or take it for myself as extra fire power.

I'm not sure where the story would go from here, but I would want to know more about that line that she said to me before she handed me the gun and gave me a kiss.
