That's why I watch lesbians or a girl masturbating instead. Takes the guy out of the equation all together.

I can't stop laughing at the comic. It's so...so true.

OT: POV is ideal because the man (or presumably unsightly lady) is holding the camera.

Vicariousness(sp?)

they don't really get much screentime anyway, they're paid so much less than the women it's unbelievable.

Why is it that a heterosexual male would want to watch another guy having sex when he is watching porn - presumably as a pleasurable activity?
The idea is that when you watch it, you imagine that you're that guy, doing that stuff with that girl. And if you're the girl, you imagine being that girl, having that guy do that stuff with you.

Even worse is when the male actor starts talking or the camera focuses on him or similar - why is this in porn?
Because it's something that (some) people who are into guys (for example, heterosexual girls, who also watch porn, by the way) really like to see. Same with the close-up of the guy's face.

Strange as it may seem, heterosexual porn is not just for heterosexual men.

It's wish-fulfilment, IMO. The bloke imagines himself in the bloke position. I'd say that girls who watch porn often do the same sort of thing, hence why we don't always watch gay male porn.

It's quite simple really (someone may have already said it, I'm not going through 3 pages of posts).

We project ourselves onto the guy during porn. That's why usually guys have large junk, as we watch it, we're not watching some guy's junk, we're projecting so we're actually watching a representation of our own junk as we are having sex with the woman. We're the guy, we're not looking at the guy, even if they guy shows up you're not really paying attention to it in the same fashion you look at the girl. (if you're straight)

It sorta explains all that crazy tentacle stuff too, I mean, when there's a monster having it's way with 5 girls at the same time, it's like we are doing that, that's the fantasy we perceive and why this type of material gets made.

Personally I only watch lesbian porn or solo girls. I don't know what it says about the imaginations of people if you need to see another guy to imagine yourself having sex... do you always view yourself in the third person? Maybe you hire some poor Mexican to follow you around with a full length mirror all day.

If I am watching porn I want to see something that arouses me, girls that I want to have sex with. Two girls naked together can be better than one because that's two girls I want to have sex with (I don't know why but if a girl is a lesbian it makes me want to have sex with her more, even if I might not normally find her particularly attractive... I am sure that says something about my psyche...).

Seeing a guy on the other hand is not arousing, it takes me out of the fantasy. I don't know about you but I would not have sex in the same room as another dude. So seeing a guy who isn't me is not sexy at all. It doesn't bother me in itself, but it isn't sexy. Also seeing a girl having sex with some other guy makes it feel even less like I could have sex with her, 'cause you know, she's already occupied.

My two cents on why I also don't understand hetero porn.

Yeah, It's like role playing. You are the guy! I personally don't see it.
There is such a thing as lesbian porn.
It doesn't bother me as long as the dude isn't some ugly fuck with a porn stache, but I'm assuming you don't like it because seeing their face and hearing them talk makes it harder to imagine the guy as you right? I feel you.
Pretty much. It would probably be better if it was from the POV of the guy.

Not sure if its been posted, but made me think of this little gem:

OT: IDK. I guess we imagine the guy is us? Personally I like all kinds of categories, but nothing gets me off as when I see the participants enjoying what they do.

If you find the presence of a male actor off putting in porn, maybe you should - and I'm just throwing ideas around here - have sex with a woman yourself?

I love how the OP generally typifies sex as something a man does with a woman or "girl" rather than something two people do together.

Perhaps not everyone has your particularly male centric view of sex?
Sorry, perhaps didn't clarify, I mean more: Why is the most popular kind of porn one that features a man and a woman, when the predominant audience is male?

Also, funny about that male-centric view - you'd almost think I WAS male... Fancy that!
According to the Kinsey reports only 10% of the human populace is truly, fully 100% straight. Similarly only 10% are fully gay. Everyone else is various shades of bisexual (or bicurious).

So odds are that if society hadn't conditioned you into finding another naked guy disgusting ('cause anything less would be totally gay Takei) that you'd find the guy just a little bit hot. =p

Actually, I take that back, very few male porn actors are what you might consider handsome, they're hardly Isaiah Mustafa.

I read somewhere that, while you might tie your conscious brain in knots placing yourself in the shoes of the guy (who looks very little like you), or imagining yourself doing what he does (without the aid of pumps and pills), your SUB-conscious mind is competing in some sort of virility match with this fellow, and your body follows suit. Upshot? Better physical reactions to guy/girl porn than to other varieties, regardless of the conscious thought about it (if you know what I mean).
Sex has a lot of these moments, really--the physical reaction overrides the mental one. There are a lot, but that's another story.

If you're that insecure about your sexuality then maybe you should just get it over with and masturbate to gay porn.

You know, this reminds me of a comedian's routine. I just can't remember what comedian it was.

Here, does this sound familiar to anyone else?

The comedian states that everyone is at least a little bit gay. He then talks about his very straight, very masculine friend who took offense to this. This is my attempt to remember the recreated dialogue that the comedian then provided:

Comedian's Friend: "I'm not part gay!"

Comedian: "Oh. Do you watch porn?"

Comedian's Friend: "... sure."

Comedian: "I see. So you only watch lesbian porn."

Comedian's Friend: "What? No, I enjoy watching a man and a woman make love."

Comedian: "Okay. So, when you're watching straight porn, do you like it when the guy's penis is sort of soft and floppy?"

Comedian's Friend: "Hell no! I like to see his big, hard cock..."

Comedian: **gives friend a significant look**

Comedian's Friend: "Huh. I did not know that about myself."

Anyway, that isn't perfect by any means (although I think that the last line is almost exactly as it was in the comedy routine). That's what this thread made me think of.

Also, if anyone knows what comedian I'm talking about (I can't remember his/her name) please let me know - this is going to bother me all evening.
The comedian is Ron White and he used that as a point with is homophobic brother in law
