A question for girls...

Is it true that girls are more open minded than guys? I was having a conversation with a ladyfriend and she was telling me how girls like to grab each others chest and make out just for the hell of it. And I asked, "Doesn't that make you gay?" and she told me, "No its just that girls are just more playful than guys and are more open minded."

And I have seen that first hand, back in high school the girls that I knew were always chasing each other trying to grab each others chest and would give each other a good morning kiss or a goodbye kiss.

So I'm just wondering if all girls are like that or if its just where I live?

Socially, it is viewed much differently on average for each sex in my opinion. Girls touching each other/messing around is much more in the norm then guys doing it. I also noticed, when girls do it, there isn't much of a fuss but when guys do it, they need to throw in the ''not gay'' or an actual gay joke to justify it. I've met girls who do it for attention, and others who do it because they think it's fun. I've done it with friends to make them laugh/cheer them up, in that ''rape rape!'' funny anime type of humor you use to break the ice or incite some hilarious terror.

This is from personal experiences and from what I've observed from being around other people and asking around. In general, both sexes do it, but they have different reactions to the very act of doing it. I've yet to meet a guy who was completely comfortable with his sexuality to where he could grab another guys butt or some other type of move and be totally okay with it as to not throw in some gay joke/lul for justification.

Finally someone posted a comment that pretty much answered my question. And yeah I've seen that same behavior in guys as well. Knew a couple of guys who would play ass tag or grab each other in the junk even though they were straight and had girlfriends, they just did it for the lulz.

Yeah talked to those same guys that did those things awhile back and there having a nice life with their wives and have a decent job. They did those things when they were seniors and I was a sophmore.

It's definitely more normal for girls. Girls will hug their friends all the time, sometimes even kiss each other on the cheek to say hello or goodbye, and nobody really bats an eye. If one of my (male) friends tried to hug me, I'd be like, "uhh... dude, what the fuck?" and if he kissed me that would be grounds to lay his ass out.

Something I've learned in my Psych classes is that women, in general, have a more "fluid" sexuality than men, and thus don't always perceive such things as sexual.

I dunno, I'm a guy...and I have scored guys friends for a laugh, but its generally frowned upon. I have a few diff guy friends, one wouldn't even "man-hug" when we met, now he just get uncomfortable when I tell his wife I'm going to steal him away, another we cheek kiss when we meet and another we chest bump cuz he's uber hetro...

Yeah, as long as you say no homo afterwards, it's just innocent experimentation, at least that's the rule at our school.

But yeah, there are a lot of gay kinda jokes at our school, not making fun of gays, but just acting gay, not flamboyant or anything.... I don't know it's hard to describe.

I did that a lot in high school. It was no big deal, really.

WHOA, WHOA, WHOA.

Your friend is full of the worst kind of crap. First, by saying 'girls' she's including me, so inform her that if she's going to make claims like that, do NOT generalize like that EVER AGAIN. I could never STAND it when another girl tried to kiss of touch me, I find it just as disrespectful as when a guy does it. If they do it in front of me, they can go find a room because I don't want to see it.

Girls might be a little more open about sex than guys, but girls can be just as biased, just as homophobic and just as narrow minded as anyone else. Furthermore, if I learned anything in psychology, and the hell years that were high school, girls are sometimes more driven by sex than most guys.

Second, if she says they don't care what people think, she's lying. Everyone cares to some degree what other people think of them. So please inform her that a girl on this end of the world now has no respect for her and her generalizations and says that she needs to shut her biased, womens liber mouth, and think more carefully before she spews crap out her mouth disguised as open minded intelligence.

There's a fairly big difference between being sexually open and being open minded. The latter implies a willingness to consider new and different ideas, whereas the former implies the idiotic flirty shit that high school (And immature college) girls usually do.
