It's not illegal, everything he's doing is legal.

He's copying the client from his friends computer, the client can be downloaded from Blizzard for free but obviously he doesn't want to download it.

If he wanted to access an account it would be illegal but all he's doing is copying free data to his HD. So shut up.

Or it could be that he hasn't set up his LAN properly and his shared folders don't have the right allowances?

And, yes, it's the same client, and yes, copyright laws are fucked up.

I call this fact into question. Either way, I sent off a webform to Blizzard so they can clarify, if only to satisfy my own curiosity.

Well, do you know how to help the shared folder settings? When I try to turn off the copyright protection (By unchecking the big button "Skrivskyddad") it says processing and stuff and then it just reverts back when we check the properties again.

if i remember rightly, which i might not, cos it's been a while, the download is free, but IF you start a subscription (after the free trial) there a 'start up fee' type deal (instead of buying the discs) that covers the 'cost' of the client. (that you don't pay if you bought the discs)

but honestly, downloading it from Blzzard would be easiest.

Downloading is also the slowest. But I dont have much of a choice because only Amnestic is trying to help..

Guys, its WoW, I can download it free from blizzard if I want. I have a subscription active. I have the discs. But I want it on my netbook, and id like to have it today. Now, I dont have a disc drive on my netbook so thats out of the question and im lanning so id prefer to play it while im lanning.

Then I reccomend you start the free download.

Im downloading it from blizzard, what other clients is there? <.<
And no, im not used to getting these problems. And I havnt installed WoW since 2007, just copied it from computer to computer.

I'm afraid I don't know to be honest. When my brother and I shared folders over the LAN, all it took (to my knowledge) was just right clicking and click "Share" and then select which computer on the LAN you wanted to share with. Beyond that I couldn't tell you.

My friend said they had mirror sites on Blizzards webpage...

That's good advice. However if it doesn't work you could always torrent it. It's not illegal when you have an account.

EVERYONE CAN DOWNLOAD THE CLIENT FOR FREE. IT'S NOT ILLEGAL. YOU STILL NEED AN ACCOUNT OR A CD-KEY TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT. HE JUST WANTS TO DO IT BECAUSE IT WOULD BE A LOT FASTER THAN DOWNLOADING AGAIN!!

If you really don't know the laws of MMOs, please, don't talk. What next, you'll say that copying games from Steam from one PC to another PC, even if that person also bought the game, is illegal? God...
