The only thing good to come out of COD in the past couple years is that guy Kevin on YouTube who goes around annoying all the COD zombies with surprising efficiency.
This. That Irishman is hilarious.

OT: It'll peak eventually. Just like with Guitar Hero, CoD's Rock Band just needs to swoop down and provide replay value that CoD just can't hope to compete with...

In retrospect, that "Prestige Mode" idea was probably one of the greatest replay value aspects of a game ever, and the guy who came up with the idea should be rewarded as such...

Oh wait.

Aside from the fact that your wrong on every single point you made he was talking about sales figures. You would have to be mentally retarded to disagree that call of duty has grown more popular with each installment.
Okay I agree that CoD has become more popular with the underaged teens that love to scream swears into the mic and jump in front of any flak the game takes, while simultaneously giving gamers a bad name, all in the name of "you don't like it because you suck" while they rush and bunnyhop their way to the wussiest kills possible.

Seriously, look before you talk dude. The last thing we need is more CoD/Halo games for the teens to play and cause parental rioting.

Jesus, calm down. It's called a joke, relax.
Wasn't really a joke, more like a humorous statement.

OT: from a Call of Duty fanboy; It's starting to peak, to tell you the truth. They've developed this formula and they are trying to stay safe. They need to innovate. They've got the basics down, now they need to touch them up.
So, they need to completely kill the single player campaign they've been watering down and weakening with every iteration since Modern Warfare?
.... Preetttyyyy much yeah.

BTW, having the game question the role of the modern day warrior does not mean that the protagonist has to be aware of those themes. Instead the game could offer an prologue and an epilogue where you control the character at home. Maybe he is working in an office or driving his car or taking his child to the park. Then he could have a flashback that tells the story of how and why he joined the army. His training, his time in a warzone. Then as an epilogue the player returns to the present. The idea of the epilogue is to show how emasculated and useless the protagansit feels when he is at home (I thought this was conveyed brilliantly in the Hurt Locker and Fight Club is about the role of the modern man).
That actually sounds like a pretty damn good idea.

Having a few flashbacks right after ever major fight sequence that happens would be really refreshing.

I envision having a main character get hit with an explosion and while he's fading in and out of consciousness he has memories of his home memories.

Of course, getting a child voice actor you don't want to get hit by a schoolbus would be pretty tricky to integrate in.

Call of duty would need a huge refreashment if it would keep the sales up. Modern warfare got it out of the world war 2 thing so they have succeded with that before. But it's obvious that Call of duty is kinda heading the same way as halo. Still sale a lot. But not the most.

I'm going to be honest, saying Activision needs to release a game every 2-3 years or so is assuming that they actually CARE about video games. They don't give a shit about video games, they care about their money. CoD is popular, whats the best way to make money? Cash in on the popularity of it, and as much as I hate to say it, its working out pretty well for them. They don't actually care if CoD goes the way of GH or Tony Hawk, past the point of "Well there goes some money, on to the next thing to sucker people in to."

That's why I've boycotted all Activision products, no CoD, no Prototype, hell not even Blizzard stuff. It'd be nice if everyone did, but we all know that wont happen, and for that, Activision will be the cancer killing genres/video games for years to come.

i dont see any reason that COD should decline if the designers keep it fresh. letting it stagnate is the downfall of most franchises. for example, after rock band came out there wasnt much else they could do with it to keep it feeling fresh. there are only a limited number of songs that work with the games and the first four or five total games quickly dredged out that little pool. meanwhile, there is a lot of actual wars that COD could cover, and an unlimited number of imaginary ones too, so the only thing limiting it is an inability to keep the gameplay flow going

So does that make MOH the Rock Band of FPS?
More like Battlefield = rock band, started out shitty (Bad Company) but became the best (BF3)
That is COMPLETELY inaccurate. Battlefield started out as battlefield 1942 which was FANTASTIC. Then it became battlefield 2 which had the best aerial vehicle combat of all time... OF ALL TIME. Then it became battlefield 2142 which was a slightly less good version of battlefield 2. Then it became bad company garbaiowetjoIJ%#O%JI#%JHI#OJ. Now it's remembering that it used to be awesome.

COD has peaked, plummeted, bounces off rock bottom, and is currently staggering about with a serious closed head injury. It needs to be euthanized. It can never recover, it will never be anywhere near as awesome as COD4, and for PC gamers at least is a joke.

Also too damn expensive. CoD4 is STILL 30-odd bucks!
If you ask me, $5.6 Billion on day one doesn't sound like rock bottom to me. More like at the peak of their game. It sounds like you just don't like the game.

Once COD fails to sell a million copies, then you can say they have hit rock bottom.

Releasing games so frequently is the best thing to do money-wise. Add in the cash from a few map packs, then you have a very lucrative venture. Plus players might get bored without something new to play so quickly. I'm not really a fan of this method, though. I kind of need a break in between sequels to fully enjoy them.

why is it that they are less and less concerned with fixing the bugs in games anymore? All they want to do is add more maps/bugs every few months now instead of fixing the ones that are already there. On top of that, I havent/wont buy the expansion packs so I am dumbed down to a mere half dozen servers I can play on, the majority of which are crouch/sniper/pistol only. They have killed the decency that the game used to have. (not that there was much to begin with) (I say all of this in regards to the PC version)
