"Please don't hate us, we're the biggest publisher, isn't it already a horrific punishment to us?"

F****** retarded dumbass morons. Are you so stupid to mean what you just said, Activison, or do you think you're dealing with idiots, huh? Well, either way, you are still on my gaming black list, so you won't get a single penny from me.

They really don't seem to get that your business' image is actually important to your profits in the long run. Even something as simple as releasing a map pack for free would improve their image now, which is just sad.

Also, talking down to your consumer base is making things worse.

"So what, now I'm stupid too??? I HATE YOU!!! *slams door* "
Now that's "a little bit too strong".

I understand and agree with his points, but he also needs to understand that quality of their games is in decline mostly due to harsh deadlines and unreasonable expectations. But it's a industry alright, and blame rests on all of us; developers; gamers; games journalists.

As Therumancer said we should just boycott their games and not just ***** about when they turn out to be bad.

Activision, maybe we wouldn't be so hard on you if you released quality titles at reasonable prices. I don't play military FPS much, so your main cash cow CoD is lost on me. I also stopped giving a rats ass about Guitar Hero after part 2, so the decision to let it go didn't effect me at all.

Want to know how to play this game properly? Look at your partner Blizzard. Do they shit out another installment of their popular series annually for the sake of swimming around their money pool, Scrooge McDuck style? NO! They take a fuckload of time to tweak and polish to make damn sure that they're releasing a quality product. Ditto Valve. Concentrate on making good titles instead of the same one year after year with minor differences, and maybe gamers will stop spewing so much bile about you.

Customers are share holders. As a customer you are invesing in whatever company every time you make a purchase. A "Great" Company will put the customer/share holders above the stock/share holders and know that both will be pleased. You put the stock/share holers first and you have the abuse of GH and removal of all fun from games.

"Thanks Bobby" *Mean gesture*

I feel totally ripped off with Black Ops on PC.

So Tough. I've had enough of this crap. That was the last penny you'll see from me. Activision is on my boycott list along with EA. I'm happy with other games and content, thank you very much.
I'm joining you. Once EA got rid of Pandemic (aka the only entity in EA to make good games), they've been on my no-buy list. Activision is joining the party because they love punishing their own customers and then bitching about their job "being hard". Yeah, I'm sure being the biggest publisher in the industry is real hard...

[/Sarcasm]

Honestly, the only company that gets my money on day 1 with no exceptions is Atlus. They release good games at a reasonable price, and actually listen to their fans. Now that they've announced an english release of Tales Of Graces F, Namco Bandai may have redeemed themselves, but for now it's just Atlus.

I'm sorry Activision, but the excuse "It's profitable, therefore it's morally justifiable" doesn't work for me...

Especially if you're an indie company with the profits being drained out of the market by a mega-corporation. Or anyone looking to get a paycheck for Call of Duty. Or any of the many firms that have had to close their doors because they have been pushed out of business by a bigger brand that milked, sued or legislated against them.

Who do we know that's done all of that, and still plays the "I'm so ronery" violin?

And this is a beauty for a soundbite
I know several people that work there who don't have plush offices - and they try to create wonderful products
So, of all the people you know in Activision, several don't have plush offices; and they do the hard work...

And of the lots I assume you know then most either have plush offices or don't create wonderful products...

Seriously, just admit you don't give a fuck about anything other than money. Stop with this whole passive-aggression.

"Gamers may not like how Bobby Kotick rolls but his shareholders do and at the end of the day, that's what counts."

And when we all eventually stop buying specifically because of Kotick? What then? Will the shareholders still be happy?

It would be nice to see them think just a little bit farther than 1 step.

Actually the guy you are quoting hasn't worked for Activision since 1984. So, it's probably more likely that the statement is a little more like "I know several people who work for Activision -and- they dont have plush offices -and- make great quality games."

Not, as you seem to take it as "I know -everyone- who works at Activision and everything's made by 12 guys in a closet."

I find it interesting how many games that Activision has their hands on seem to never get any patches after being published. It's like once they're released, they are forgotten.

What about that mess with Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines? They were the publishers and made it release at the same time as Half Life 2. What dumbass thought that was a good idea?

They can't take all of the blame for that one. The game went gold (fit to publish) and was ready to go a few weeks before Half-Life². However, since both games used Valve's Source engine, it was stipulated in the contract that Masquerade not release before HL². This gave Troika Games about 3 more weeks to add polish and fix bugs, and it still was released buggy as hell. The game needed more time, and Troika desperately needed to hire better programmers (same goes for Obsidian Entertainment and Bethesda, I love their games but they always fall short technically). Because the game sold so poorly, Troika closed up shop shortly thereafter. However a number of employees stayed on, without pay, to work on patches for the game. So what happened to Masquerade was tragic. However I'm not sure that even if they were given more time and money, that Troika could have gotten that game to a level of quality to be expected from a Source based game post HL².

Wrong, your objective is to produce a strong entertainment medium. If you are in it purely for the money, then you are in the wrong buisness.
