Sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to say here. Are you saying Pepsi is an extreme underdog or their marketing ploys are bad?

Maybe it's because Pepsi is my soft drink of choice but I just don't get it.

Meh, most of my money goes to THQ anyways. Let EA and Activision-Blizzard fight each other.

More than it's a harsh insult. Pepsi is revolting horror juice.

And as for you...

OT: Antagonists irritate me, especially when it's in a hobby. Hope this shit doesn't continue past the launch. Ego fights over DLC would be too much.

I really do think people are being a bit too haughty in this situation. It's just a good ole' fashioned piss-off, it's not doing any damage in the long run. What separates this altercation from just another executive subtly jiving another opponent is that these two are actually responding to each other, and I find that hilarious.

Ah, so it's equating the flavor of Pepsi to the quality of games EA publishes.

That doesn't work with me due to my love of the Pepsi flavor and hate for EA(the company/Origin, not necessarily the games it publishes though I won't buy any game that requires Origin).

So did EA watch that episode Extra Credits did on them and decide they wanted to give them enough material for Open Letter to EA Marketing Part 2?

Clearly the only way to resolve this is to let Valve take over the entire industry so we can all bask in Gabe's sensible and level headed comments. Of course if he was running everything he'd have less time to work on Episode 3, so it would probably have it's release pushed back a bit...

Thing is, the executives of Coke don't even publicly acknowledge Pepsi exists. By you claiming BF3 is a challenger, you give them legitimacy. While Pepsi, in my eyes, has always seemed to be the little brother trying to follow in big brother Cokes shoes, BF3 seems like the cocky newcomer with enough ability to back up his mouth.

EDIT: Simplified, just by talking about the competition, you recognize it as a threat. Completely ignoring a competitor is the greatest insult and activision missed on that opportunity several times.

I wish they would spend less time talking about how well their games are going to do and more time talking about why they deserve to do well.
Why talk about the games? Each respective game is talking for itself just fine. Lets look all the show awards each has won, shall we?

E3 Game Critics Awards:
Best Action Game: Battlefield 3
Best Online Multiplayer: Battlefield 3

Modern Warfare 3: none

Gamespot E3:
Best Graphics: Battlefield 3
Best Shooter: Battlefield 3

Modern Warfare 3: none

Gamespy E3:
Best Graphics: Battlefield 3
Best Audio: Battlefield 3
Best Multiplayer Game: Battlefield 3

Modern Warfare 3: None

Gamescom Overall Awards:
Best in Show: Battlefield 3

Modern Warfare 3: None

There are more out there, I'm feeling lazy now though.

This is getting a bit embarrassing. Both of them behave like some schoolchildren. And I really want to meet the guys who work at EA's marketing department because I'm sure it was them who told Jeff Brown to say those things, it fits their style if you look at Dante's Inferno and Dead Space 2.
How are they both? It seems Activision hasn't been acting childish while EA has been.
Activision was trashing other developers not too long ago. Kotick actually came out and said Bungie was the only good indie developer out there.

EA puts the dukes up and cries out gibberish, Activision raises its hands and goes "Why, do observe this petulant barbarian! How uncivilized and vulgar, I say!"

Both are stupid.

I think EA would be wise to remember that the last time they challenged Activision and CoD (Medal of Honor), they fell on their arses in an absolute humiliation.

I was going to post about how stupid the constant EA-hating is and how their CEO's comments were actually pretty reasonable given the context of game marketing (Activision's CEO was honestly acting relatively ridiculously, suggesting that completely typical marketing hype was some sort of bizarre insult).

Most of EA's participation in this has seemed like the typical friendly skewering of competition that I would consider healthy. Instead of just playing along and having fun with it, Activision made it into a thing by acting like it was serious and responding in kind.

And then I read this and I don't even:
"I feel like [EA's commentary] comes from a place that assumes that there's a finite number of gamers in the world."

While mommy and daddy are fighting, I'll be too busy playing Batman: Arkham City.
This, while it's certainly entertaining to watch them go at it, I'd rather just play a game I'm interested in. "My shooter is better than your shooter" is practically a nil argument in this day and age. Everyone shooter is almost the same, the only thing you can change is setting.

I think EA are being fucking childish.
I'm surprised Activision actually managed to take the high ground on this one.
Nonetheless I couldn't give a fuck about Activision since they started selling gaming glasses, gaming juice and thought it was a good idea to get the worlds biggest cuntnugget (Kanye West) to perform for them in favour of MW3.
Then again they're not being babies and shouting "MW3 is gonna kick MF3s ass"

I'm buying BF3 because it'll be a better game IMO.
Hope no one is swayed either way by these stupid publishers.
