Yes, yes, you're both big boys now. Now kiss and make up.
That's exactly what I was thinking

"Mum he is calling my company names"
"Just ignore him, and stay away from his company from now on"

Am I the only one who doesn't hate CoD?

I bought Battlefield 2 (it was 20 bucks new, so why not?), and it's the same amount of fun for me as BlackOps so far. At the end of the day I think we have room for two big FPS games.

Though I despise the current Activision plan of selling 5 maps for 20 bucks.
The people on this website are notorious for hating CoD, there is usually a 'CoD hate' related thread every day, you will get used to it.

I agree with the outrageous prices for map packs though, which is why I haven't bought any in a long time.

Also "At the end of the day I think we have room for two big FPS games."
Could not have said it better myself.

Last I checked, Activision was the one saying "oh our game completely trumps anything BF3 can bring out."

They started in, EA is ending it.

Im really disappointed in the escapist at the moment, after reading some of the comments on this thread. Heres someone saying "lets stop the useless bickering and start trying to make better games" but all the comments i saw were fanboys saying that CoD sucks, should die, etc. etc.

I mean REALLY. Lets just totally descend into perpetuating the useless school yard bickering on BF3 vs MW3 rather than ascending into "People will have their own opinions". I really thought you guys were better than that.
Welcome to the Escapist, a community which isn't quite as different from the rest of the internet as the hipsters would like you to believe.

OT: Pot calling the kettle black.

Oh EA, I try to like you. I really do. You actually green-lit new interesting franchises like Mass Effect and Mirror's Edge, and are planning to give the latter a sequel even though it wasn't commercially successful. You let DICE make PC the lead platform for BF3. I even somewhat forgave you for Westwood because you, after all, published some of my favorite games in the bygone era.

But then you pull shit like the Dante's Inferno ad campaign and now this feces-flinging, dragging DICE's good name through it all.

By mentioning COD all the time, EA are giving it the alpha status.

Stop tugging at their sleeve and let your game speak for itself, it looks great, no need to slag other games off to prove it.

It's also going to make them look very stupid when MW3 absolutely crushes BF3 in sales.

No, Mass Effect is a shooter about a black-ops space marine - nothing risky here. But that's besides the point - Mass Effect was greenlit and financed by Microsoft, EA bough Bioware after ME1 was finished (it wasn't released at the time). Why do you think there isn't ME1 on PS?

Mirror's Edge was successful, it just wasn't CoD successful.

This is because BF3 is also being developed for the WiiU, a new console that is somewhat more powerful. It's easier to downscale( from PC to platform) than to upscale(from platform to PC). Also - BF is one of their big franchises and they want to make people use Origins.

They have their own scheme.

As an outsider (not interested in either game, nor the genre they fit in), I have to agree that this name-calling would turn me off of Battlefield 3. It tells me that their game can't speak for itself, so they have to resort to petty and childish insults.

You know, if Bioware and Doublefine both left EA, I would never buy another game from them again. They act like such crass bullies.

Oh look at Activision trying to be grown ups.

That being said, Riccitiello's comments aren't exactly the best thing he could have done but then EA's never been one to present a good public image.

It's all very childish to be honest, all these big highly paid executives calling each other names and bitching worse than fanboys in Youtube comments. Let the games speak for themselves, the only effect these clowns are having with their ridiculous slap-fighting is negative. Meanwhile both DICE and Infinity Ward are just doing their best to deliver the best games they can. New rule: If you earn over $500,000 a year at a games publisher you aren't allowed to talk.

Aww, is poow widdew Activision feewing huht?

Really though, implying that Activision is Pixar and Modern Warfare is Toy Story? That's being pretty generous to yourself. And besides, the company with the CEO who is the undisputed king of saying stupid crap shouldn't be talking about the stupid crap others say, regardless of how stupid it might be.

This is all pointless anyway, since fans of military shooters will probably pick up both games.

BF3 vs MW3 is probably the most irritating fanboy ***** fight to come out of the gaming industry for a while now. Thankfully I have the cash to buy both, choosing one camp from another seems pretty silly to me, but far be it from me to tell you who to support and how vehemently you do so.

Well, at least this is slightly more mature than when the Battlefield/CoD fanboys start arguing.

But only just.

EDIT -

I disagree for the mere fact that the people who actually Play battlefield 3 will be enjoying it, while only a small minority of CoD players who actually go on forums and heard about BF3 enough to remember it will actually try to point and laugh, all while the BF3 players are too busy playing a (in my opinion) superior game to really give a shit about what CoD players say about "sales" which barely affect the player base at all apart from there possibly being a few less servers than the forgone alternative.

We shouldn't be tearing each other apart fighting for a bigger piece of the pie - we should all be focused on trying to grow a bigger pie.
Easy to say when you have the biggest piece.

What does Activision have to fear? BF3 isn't going to do as well as them with this whole PC debacle anyways. Mind you BF is suppose to be developed for PC first and that the core franchise is a PC title.

Yeah c'mon guys! What are you? Game developers or politicians?
They are corporate which means they are politicians.

They don't work and they lie and cheat their asses off.

Am I the only one that wish it was illegal across the world for a company to own another company? Partnerships in a venture fine. These vast empires? NO. No possiblity of buying out the competition, if you want to be as good as them you have to work yourself not just throw money at someone. It feels almost like bribery to me. "I don't want to actually have to work harder to beat you so I'm just going to pay you and you let me win, kk?
My point was that they should be above mudslinging.
