"Obviously, we stay connected to what's going on in the communities, so we're not ignorant that there's a very vocal minority out there that has some very strong feelings," he said. "Whenever you become number one in any industry, you automatically get a target painted on your back. You've got to be able to live with that."
A vocal minority eh.
Somehow I think it's only a minority because only a few people have a clue about what activision does outside of knowing they make CoD.

Good luck with that.

In other news I'd like to be sat on my balcony with an ice-cream right now rather than sitting at work in a 30-degree office but some things just aren't gonna happen.

And no, it's not because you're "Number one". Douche.
*The crowd roars it's approval*

They have a bad name with me because they throw out as many shit games as good ones. Just make imaginative interesting games.

And I AM sat on my balcony eating ice-cream, in my pants.

Yeah, I'm gonna be calling bullshit on that one until I see some effort. Seriously, anyone can say they want to make nice, but deeds speak louder than words. And if we were to stick to words, last I heard from Activision was that Kotick wants to start charging for CoD multiplayer...

Activision has been along for a very long time and made some great games which deserve credit. But the way they market things these days isn't good. Hope they will wise up. Maybe a bit of ironic forsight they had when they made this:

Wait. What?

"Whenever you become number one in any industry, you automatically get a target painted on your back. You've got to be able to live with that."
Did I miss something?

Heh, arrogance much? Must have missed the news where they became the number one publisher.

That might be the first thing to work on then, stop appearing like a bunch of twats.

"Dear Gamers:
We're sorry we are the largest publisher around. Verily, our position at the top (of a mountain of money) is indeed the sole cause for us hiring pricks like Kotick, or our tendency to backstab our most profitable developers. Yes, in a way you are responsible for us being dicks. Please accept our sincere apologies for your wrong doing, and please buy the next MW2 mappack for $20 + $5 per month in subscription and another $50 in We-Are-The-Greatest-Dicks fee.
Thank you"

1) Go fuck yourselves (collectively)
2) Fire Kotick already
3) Remember, suicide is always an option
4) It be mah money, I decide who gets it. You guys don't exactly publish things that I simply MUST have (sans D3, or WC4 perhaps, but that's Blizzard), so, uhm, see 1)

If they want to improve their image they already made wrong first step. Never, ever say you are number one, it doesn't help, on the contrary, it rather shows you are just arrogant ho's.
Step 1: Learn humility .

All he's saying is, instead of actually trying to be nicer to gamers, Activision is going to try harder to make what they're already doing look better. Putting spin on things, so we don't notice they're being assholes.

Stopping Kotick speaking in public isn't going to change his policies; we still get screwed.

maybe Activison should quit poking around with a franchise that is quickly running dry and try taking chanses with dead franchises, or at least release some DLC (for Tony Hawk's Project 8 and Proving Ground, for instance)

Well, if they want people to stop looking at them negativly they will need to do alot of work, as there alot of wounds left from them, thats for sure.

Be intresting to see how they intend to go about it!

Step 1 for Activision= STOP BEING EVIL!
Step 2: Fire Kotick.

If Activision actually does these two things, the world will be a better place, and baby seals will never be an endangered species anymore :)

So improving your image step 1 is to patronize us? Someone punch that guy in the face.
