Should we really be poking fun and abuse at someone who is clearly mentally ill?
Yes, we should. Being 'mentally ill' is not a free pass in life to do whatever crazy shit you wanted. You're still accountable. How does having agoraphobia, OCD, panic disorder, 'major depression' and Crohn's Disease (something which isn't mental, as a sidenote) somehow give him reign to not be judged like everyone else?
It doesn't, but it seems he doesn't really know what a fool he's making of himself. It's sad.

Also, I have panic disorder and though it doesn't make me want to sue games companies, it is a very tough thing to live with that I wouldn't wish uopn my worst enemy, so I do have just a little empathy towards the guy.
Really? He just confuses me. He's got both agoraphobia and panic disoder. Surely neither of those are helped by a sue-happy lifestyle? In fact, I should think stressful court trials with four of the largest names in the gaming business would only seek to make his panic attacks worse. Admittedly I'm no expert (yet), but that seems fairly logical to me.

I don't think so, which is why I haven't participated in this thread up until now. For all we know, the extent of his mental illness is quite great and we should show some restraint towards this whole thing. It's easy for people to say these things over the internet, but I'd like to see some of his critics walk up to him and say some of these hateful things face to face. The fact is, not many people would, because as much of a tough guy it may make you feel like to bash a mentally ill person online, it would take a pretty shitty person to say some of these things to him in a "real life" scenario.

Yeah, this pretty much explains how I feel about it too.

It's a similar situation to that MW2 wall-punching kid. The comments on his youtube page are just despicable.

People are cruel and will always pick on those weaker than them, without understanding what situation the person may be in.

This is especially apparent on the internet where there are no real life repercussions for people.

Now I feel sad.

Its the internet, it happens whether you like it or not. Don't even start to tell me you haven't done the same thing at some point before, or just being a hypocrite?

And yet... Is there a third possibility that we're overlooking? Could all of this in fact be another stealth ad from the wild and crazy guys at the Dante's Inferno [http://www.dantesinferno.com/] marketing team? Is it sloth? Will it be greed? Is it possible that this series of insane lawsuits will turn out to be the most insidious advertisement ever? Of course not - although as explanations go, it makes about as much sense as anything else involved in this case. (And if it is, I'm totally buying the game just for the sheer awesomeness of the marketing.)

Estavillo's complaint can be read here (Ryder [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/images/display/60938]).
Wow. Just...wow. The fact alone that this kind of lawsuit is actually being considered is mind-boggling. Is it good or bad that I'm desperately hoping this is some kind of Dante's Inferno stealth advertisement? Because I really, really, really hope that's the case.

I'm reminded of the Furry Fandom [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FurryFandom] by your post for some reason.

But anyway, well said. Even if this guy really is as set on this insane path as he seems, we shouldn't actively start mocking him. Mental illness changes people. For some, it changes them very greatly.

Hopefully every time he tries to get a judge or lawyer to take part in this case they'll just give him the finger and tell him to GTFO.

Don't assume you know the first thing about me or what I've done.

I've grown up with and around mental illness my entire life.

How dare you call me a hypocrite when you don't have a clue about me.

You know what, I'm suing my mom for not getting me enough Christmas presents last year! I wasn't brought enough happiness. In the meantime, I'm also working on my lawsuit against Wal-Mart. The "Low Prices" aren't low enough for me and I can't afford to buy half the store.
Seriously, this kid is mental! How does he even have a lawyer that would take this case?

I sense something deeper than a crazy ass bastard here, something like... Dante's inferno advertising? Or maybe he is just crazy and I'm thinging toomuch into it.

How did the other lawsuits end?
Only one of the lawsuits has ended, with the judge dismissing the entire case. The other lawsuits, I think, haven't officially been reviewed by a judge yet.

All I can say is wow(Lol, I suppose this may be a pun). It wouldn't be Blizzard's fault, it would be people's fault for playing the game and getting addicted. It seems like this guy just wants to make money.

Someone should tell him that there are other MMO's out there.
He knows. He's just waiting a week before he sues them too.
I'm questioning the legitimacy of this guys agoraphobia. I mean, won't all these lawsuits require court appearances, i.e. going outside?
