the game looks pretty good, so guess now I will have to buy for 360 but not a big deal really since I can get it anyway.

I guess I'll be getting it for the 360, this was one of the titles I was looking forward to this year. Far more so than "Heavy Rain" ironically.

Of course pretty much every game I've favored so far has wound up being hammered critically except for Bioshock 2. :p

I got Dante's Inferno instead of Dark Siders or Bayonetta, and while good, it seems to be getting panned (I was only getting one Beat 'Em Up from the barrage of them new for money reasons). White Knight Chronicles which I waited years for turned out to be very mediocre.

Oh well, no big loss.

I find it confusing since this game was one of the showcases for Dx-10 and vista,
There's why, it's so far behind that DX10 and vista are old news, bringing out a 'showcase' for them would be like showcasing the very best PS2 can offer. The cost of upgrading it to make use of DX11 and W7 is probably enormous.

Certainly too much to spend on a project that's alreay so far behind schedule and increasingly sounding like directionless vaporware.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Alan Wake got canned period. It looks less and less interesting with every set of 'leaked' screen shots.

I haven't heard much at all about this game, is it supposed to be a genre changer or something?

I can't be roused to rightious anger over something I know nothing about.

*Looks at his pre-order of Heavy Rain Collectors Edition*
Huh-what? You say something?

OT: In all seriusnes, I don't really care about Alan Wake. It looks like a shooter, but this time the ones you're shooting are ghosts, and you're armed with an OP flashlight that instakills and can't run out of ammo.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......

Actually I'm not that upset, I just don't like the idea of exclusives...
I know I hate it when one person is left out when it comes to video games, but you know what I hate more than exclusives? Exclusives that come out for one console but then are also realeased on another at a later date with brand new content that you won't be able to access on the orginal... It's like a huge fuck you to the people that bought it first.

When a 360 game is released for PC/360, Microsoft are stupid for releasing it on PC as well.
I've never seen that, not once. The only time I've seen complaints is when shoddy console ports find their way onto the PC with an obvious lack of effort put in.

This is just a cheap way for Microsoft to try and shift more Xbox 360's while essentially telling PC gamers to either fuck off or give MS more money.

I have considered Alan Wake Vaporware for about 2 years now, so nothing has changed for me with this announcement.

Great, just when I was actually getting interested in it. I hope Microsoft hits a brick wall with this one.

"Best played on Xbox"? What, they forgot there will be tons of 360 Controllers on the PCs?

Just... dammit.

The platform holder said in a statement this afternoon that it realised "the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake" was on Xbox 360.

"We've had so many problems with the damn game for half a decade, so screw it, it'll be an exclusive"

Not a big loss, this game is starting to become a vaporware.

They should hire other developers instead of using bs excuses.

If the game is "no big deal" when then why act so outraged?

At the end of the day the cost of creating the game for the PC was probably too high considering the sheer amount of time spent developing the game, period (Bearing in mind developing for the PC requires a far greater time spent testing. Especially a game as old as this that may need vastly updating since the last PC screens shown). Coupled with the fact the game won't sell well on the PC in comparison to the 360 (and Microsoft want an exclusive comparable to Heavy Rain) the developers probably thought poor sales (and higher levels of piracy) would bring down profit for a title they have obviously spent a great deal of money developing.

Of course this is just speculation - it's not exactly something they can just come out and say something like that, so they make this bullshit excuse up. Regardless the game looks great and I'll still buy it...

But the problem is that microsoft get all money from pc user base so if more and more users will go away from windows platform (linux is getting rapid user base from goverment use) then what does stand a million $ loss compared to 1-2 billion $ loss in 4 months. In short view doing more profit is great for them but in long term not supporting pc will hurt them in future skinny wallet.

Somehow I doubt you're in a better position to judge the PC gaming worlds position than Microsoft...

If they think it's necessary that the game should be a 360 exclusive then so be it, I just speculated on the possible reasons - you're just pulling numbers out of thin air - most games that are on the PC and consoles will usually not gain much of a decent profit - if at all - off a PC port, just look at the sales figures for games like Modern Warfare 2 and see the difference in PC and console sales - why waste a large number of resources creating a PC product, that arguably takes longer to make (because they have to make sure the game runs on a variety of PC's), when you're not going to get a great deal of money, and your game will be pirated more frequently than on consoles?
