unrealistic? this man realizes he makes comic book films, not nature documentaries, yes? i would love to see poison ivy in a batman film nowadays. she was awesome.Julianking93 said:That actually would be quite nice, but I think Nolan said at one point he wouldn't do Poison Ivy in a film as it was too unrealistic or... something. Very true, he just wants them to be realistic I suppose.Divine Miss Bee said:unrealistic? this man realizes he makes comic book films, not nature documentaries, yes? i would love to see poison ivy in a batman film nowadays. she was awesome.
Agreed. I had actually hoped for Bane when they were in speculation, ruling out mainstays like the Riddler and the Penguin. I didn't think Nolan would actually use him because of the awful portrayal of the character as a moronic brute in Batman and Robin. Good on Nolan for recognizing the true potential of the character.DTWolfwood said:Woo Bane! thats pretty epic. To have one of Batman's smartest and strongest opponents in what looks to be Nolans last Batman flick is pretty damn clever! Bravo on the villain.
in the comics, she was poisoned with some plants that had died out everywhere except in some ancient egyptian crypt, and that's how she got her powers. i could believe ancient, mutated plants could make a person immune to all poisons. then, it's just a matter of her plant powers being exceptional knowledge of botany (she is a doctor of botany, after all-she could breed plants that accomplish her goals, and eco-terrorism seems to fit right into today's villain agenda) and her poison kisses being nothing more than a lipstick that doesn't affect her.Julianking93 said:Very true, he just wants them to be realistic I suppose.Divine Miss Bee said:unrealistic? this man realizes he makes comic book films, not nature documentaries, yes? i would love to see poison ivy in a batman film nowadays. she was awesome.
Same with changing Two Face's cause of the accident from acid turning him purple into an explosion. Just the more gritty realism. With Ivy... I'm not really sure how they could make that real, but I'm sure they could do a good job :3
You should have been in charge of the story :3Divine Miss Bee said:in the comics, she was poisoned with some plants that had died out everywhere except in some ancient egyptian crypt, and that's how she got her powers. i could believe ancient, mutated plants could make a person immune to all poisons. then, it's just a matter of her plant powers being exceptional knowledge of botany (she is a doctor of botany, after all-she could breed plants that accomplish her goals, and eco-terrorism seems to fit right into today's villain agenda) and her poison kisses being nothing more than a lipstick that doesn't affect her.
there. i did it. now i just need millions of dollars and a director.
i think he just didn't do enough research into her comic-book persona. poison ivy is a character that has been handled badly by hollywood, so i can see how he would think she was a waste of time. or it could be because she's a feminist, and hollywood hates feminists.Julianking93 said:You should have been in charge of the story :3Divine Miss Bee said:in the comics, she was poisoned with some plants that had died out everywhere except in some ancient egyptian crypt, and that's how she got her powers. i could believe ancient, mutated plants could make a person immune to all poisons. then, it's just a matter of her plant powers being exceptional knowledge of botany (she is a doctor of botany, after all-she could breed plants that accomplish her goals, and eco-terrorism seems to fit right into today's villain agenda) and her poison kisses being nothing more than a lipstick that doesn't affect her.

But yes, I see what you mean and that would work, but the whole idea of her controlling plants and all that is what I suppose seemed too far fetched. However, they could just have her use poison instead so problem solved.... though they did already use Scarecrow who would end up being fairly similar, so I guess they wanted something totally different :3
That too. :3Divine Miss Bee said:i think he just didn't do enough research into her comic-book persona. poison ivy is a character that has been handled badly by hollywood, so i can see how he would think she was a waste of time. or it could be because she's a feminist, and hollywood hates feminists.
Seconded. I think she'd make a decent Harley Quinn, for that matter. I would rather see Poison Ivy in a Batman movie (I like to pretend Batman+Robin doesn't exist), though I suppose if it's the last in a series they'd want to go with the more iconic villain.Divine Miss Bee said:call me nitpicky, but i could almost see anne hathaway's look and acting style as poison ivy, not catwoman.
I like that idea, agreed!Shirokurou said:Hey, who expected "Brokeback mountain" and "Knight's tale" star Ledger to give the Joker performance that he did?
So let's give Hathaway a chance and see the results...
Oh my God, I so freaking called this the moment I heard that Tom Hardy would be in the third movie. Nolan must've been watching Bronson while trying to come up with a new villain.Elizabeth Grunewald said:Tom Hardy will be playing Bane.
Joker knows his secret identity, so does Catwoman, and The Black GloveJulianking93 said:Exactly!Sinclose said:Aw c'mon. Bane from that movie was NOTHING like he is in the comics. I feel lazy, so I'll just link the wikipedia article:

Basically he had managed to break Batman physically and psychologically in his debut against him.
Schumacher's version was just stupid. They made him just a borderline retarded guy with muscles.
In the comics, Bane was a borderline genius. He broke down Batman psychologically by releasing all the inmates from Arkham and was even able to learn his secret identity, something that no one else seems to be able to do >>
I'm with you on that one.Shirokurou said:Hey, who expected "Brokeback mountain" and "Knight's tale" star Ledger to give the Joker performance that he did?
