This is history in the making, I can't wait to see the ending. I'm rooting for anonymous because they are the lesser evil but I think they have a better chance of winning, wiht with the unstoppable amount of users
So, we shouldn't be criticising /b/ for fear of Anon reprisals? Isn't that using similar tactics to the people they're "bringing down"?Communist partisan said:Well... don't criticizes /b/ than... it's not that hard, ain't it?Arkhangelsk said:Just remember, Anon is just a name for use by anyone, they are still the same people making vile things to anyone who say a word against /b/. But to the ones who used the name for good, power to them.Communist partisan said:I don't know shit about anon but I know they take down profiteering assholes so I roll with anon, hoping they will succeed making the world better.

Yeah, good on Anonymous for fighting to preserve freedom of speech, unless you piss them off...
Besides the fact that one does not need to forge 60,000 electronic documents in order to spoof the info found in them (ever heard of Search-and-Replace?), Anonymous' "modus operandi" is to troll for the lulz. If they could get the FBI to rely, in its investigation of Anons, on information provided by Anons, that would be hilarious."Besides the fact that forging 60,000 emails as well as PDFs, Word docs, and presentations is ridiculous, it is not Anonoymous' modus operandi to think the way these mooks do. I don't know about you, but claiming that the information is false is disingenuous."
Dude, Anon is like Yoda. At first them seem like weary little things barely able to move under their own power and the next they are leaping around like a frog on meth. Its all image, they want you to know as much about them as they want you to know. Always pays to keep a few secrets in reserve for such a surprise.flaming_squirrel said:Not too sure about Assange hiring some form of protection but this does seem a 'little' perculiar. The regular anonymous was never capable of this.Carnagath said:Didn't claim anything about Anon, but about this specific group of people who happen to be calling themselves Anon. I don't think they'd be so well informed and skilled if they were your typical basement dwelling 20-something trolls, and I don't think they are performing all those impeccably timed "hacks" randomly and for free. I think it's more likely that Assange might have hired some "personal defense", and there's nothing conspiratory about that.

To call Anon heroes, you have to call them villains too. Having a monster taking down those you don't like is great, but if that monster has no loyalties, or is just doing it for a laugh, what's to stop it from targeting you?
Yes, helping to expose corruption and bringing down the corrupt is a good thing but that doesn't make Anonymous a group of white hats.
This. Seriously, a few more years and we will be implanting usb ports into our heads and hack us free ^^HankMan said:<spoiler= The Laughing Man would be proud>

Remember, operation payback? In a way, anonymous backed down and chose a new strategy - Leakspin [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLcUVNee_UI]Generic Gamer said:Question: Can you ever imagine Anonymous realising they're wrong and backing down for any reason?
No and No. Anonymous was definitely not hired and yes they did it for free, for various good reasons.Carnagath said:and I don't think they are performing all those impeccably timed "hacks" randomly and for free. I am more concerned then excited. Ulitmately, the Goverments have far too much power and care far too little about the people.Flying Dagger said:Is anyone else excited by the prospect of corporate cyber warfare?
It sounds fucking badass.
It made most Anons cringe as well, he broke several anonymous rules and came off as an ignorant cyber terrorist.Ubermetalhed said:You are absolutely right. Listening to that socially inept kid on the BBC, coldblood, made me cringe, it really is about the 15 minutes of fame. And yeh they'll take down anything or do anything to anyone regardless if its a good or bad thing to do.
It is not faked. I would even go as far to say the plans have been implemented. Possibly by these companies, or possibly by others. There has been and is ongoing cyber attacks on wikileaks and anonymous. As you can plainly see in the news, they have labelled wikileaks as reckless and cyber terrorist. There has been fake wikileaks cables. They have tried to get Assange done for rape for not using a condom. They have very successful attacked wikileaks reputation and swayed the publics opinion.gibboss28 said:The second: If this is fake... I'm laughing my arse off and i'm also impressed with the imagination of whoever made the pdf.
That isn't true, lulz are often included but these people are fighting for freedom of speech and working against censorship.Magenera said:You should know this, the only reason Anonymous ever does anything is for teh lulz.
Anon finds the line and then cross it. In this case, Aaron (CEO of HBGary) tried to destroy anonymous in a brutal way, he was also attacked in a brutal way.Reverend Del said:And even when they do some good, they tend to go a little too far. In this instance, they hacked the CEO's twitter account and used it to post his home address, cell phone number, and social security number.
I admit to supporting some AnonOperations. If that wasn't already clear enough with my previous post.Popido said:Anywaaayys, they represent a several large cross sections of society, that nobody wants to admit being part of.

Well, they're not exactly dark and mystical... but yeah. Corporatism is a virus in the Unites States, and sadly this is being mistaken for a free market by both leftist groups, conservatives and liberals (basically everyone). Lobby here, lobby there, raise tax on other businesses so this business can have a foothold as a monopoly, it's not hard to do that, and it gets you the most profit if you boot-lick the government.mikecoulter said:I love how some of the most important business' in America are quickly beginning to look as if they are some mystical, dark and evil corporation. Funny.
