I am surprised that no one has mentioned:

FTL: Faster Than Light sound track. Do yourselves a favour and get both that and Ben Prunty's other album "Chromatic T-rex".

This is one of the few game albums that i listen to on a regular basis. Very relaxing to listen to while driving.
It's a great soundtrack, but I actually find a bunch of the tracks too melancholy. They work great in the game itself, but they make me feel kind of down.

That being said, this theme has me addicted:

Interesting that you interpret melancholy. I always seem to feel like the music is all about the exploration. I will conceed there are a couple of song tracks like 4 and 5 on the album that are slow and too ambient. I just feel like the "combat" songs just picking up the tempo of the music.

I regularity listen to game soundtracks when I'm at my weekend job (they got no issues with me listening to my MP3 player) and while driving or whenever. I am more of an instrumental person anyways, so game sound tracks have always had a special place on my music player.

I am always listening to music from the Ys series, Blazblue, Guilty Gear, Gravity Rush, Final Fantasy, Mega Man, and tons of remixes of said music. Though the ones I pretty much to daily because I just need that fix would be:

Sunsanooh

Nightmare Fiction

Ernst

Holy Orders

Crossing Rage

I just love a good helping of high octane kick your ass type music.

It may not be game related, but I adore the Thomas the Tank Engine Soundtrack.

I'm actuallu surprised there's someone else here who liked Olivers theme seeing as how I grew up with the show I loved the character but over time I quite liked the old classic engines from the Mid Sodor railway and eventually ended up liking the Duke and Skarloey character themes.

OT: I'm still living here in the past with music from Vince De cola:

I'm kind of a closet chip tune nerd so I have the entire Megaman 2 and 3 and Actraiser sound tracks on my playlist.

Other than that it's usually just one or two songs here and there. The Silent Hill and Parasite Eve themes, "The Fight" from Prince of Persia and "Katamari on the Swing" from We Love spring readily to mind.

I listen to quite a lot. Devil May Cry had an awesome soundtrack!

Then there is the older sonic games which I find myself listening to fairly often.
Red Alert and Red Alert 2.
Final Fantasy has amazing music! Nobuo Uematsu is a genius!

I think my favourite soundtrack for any game, and the one I listen to most, is Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes. I freaking love it! Each one of those songs brings back memories of a crushing defeat though.

The only one that comes close to KUF in the amount I've listened to is Zelda. I can play a lot of the soundtrack and ocarina songs on guitar and most of the ocarina songs on ocarina.

I have the soundtrack to The World Ends With You not my type of music usually but that game just made me love it with hoe it fit into the battles.

Other than that not really anything else although I saw someone post a song from Persona 3 and that one is pretty fantastic I'll probably go get that now.

Definitely!
The soundtrack for the first Mass Effect is definitely one of my all time favorites. I think a lot of it really captures the earlier era in the synth/electronic genre, with a less organic flow to the tunes. Take Saren's Theme [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhrbK254yRE], for example. My absolute favorite song on the soundtrack though has to be Noveria [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWW-hJbzhSU].

My currently most listened to soundtrack though is from Journey. It was nominated for a Grammy (the first game OST ever to have been so!!), and it definitely deserves the acclaim. It's a gorgeously composed orchestral soundtrack. The Road of Trials [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdG-e_Joc8Q] is my favorite from the album. :)

And for a while I was really attached to the Half Life soundtracks, as well as those from Unreal Tournament. Vortal Combat [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZRNd6osQrk] and Skyward Fire [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vizWqNnWWYo] being two of my most enjoyed songs.

Persona 4 and P4: Golden always need to be mentioned in a video game soundtrack thread. Always.

They use a wide variety of musical genres, so there is should be at least one song everybody can like.

These genres include...
Opera
Electronic
Orchestral
J-Pop (All sung in beautiful Engrish, excluding the ending song)
Rock
Stipper

And then tracks that are so awesome they don't have a genre.

God, it's... it's...

Half of my music library is gaming OST's, don't listen to your friends about what music is and isn't good.

On the release day for Super Meat Boy after playing the game for a few hours I immediately went out and bought the soundtrack for the game, it was that good.

I wouldn't even try to narrow them down (Devil May Cry, Guilty Gear, Blazblue, various Tales games, a bunch of visual novel OSTs, MvC3, Baten Kaitos...). Game soundtracks count for at least a quarter of my music (the other quarters being "various metal bands," "J-pop/rock," and "miscellaneous").

Blazblue in particular is my workout soundtrack. You'd be astonished how quickly a run goes by when done to Rachel or Nu's themes.

Definitely. I listen to a lot on-and-off but the mainstays are:

Super Meat Boy - Catchy, full/bassy beats, what more could you want?

Max Payne 3 - Grinding guitar noises accompanied by consistent, clear, hard hitting drum beats. Also surprisingly emotionally driven at times. Very cool.

Killer7 - Surreal electronic music with good beats. Very atmospheric. Famous for the song "Rave On" that plays in-game in a random empty stairwell that you come to once every chapter.

Shoutouts to Deadly Premonition, Red Dead Redemption, Catherine and Earthbound for almost making the list.

If I like a game, I will usually look for the soundtrack straight away. The ones I have are:
- Metro 2033, it just fits the game so well and is really beautifully done.

- Max Payne 3, again, I wouldn't usually like this sort of music but it just fits the game well. One song stands out, though.

- Halo: CE, the themes are just so memorable, and awesome.

- Halo 4, a different style to the originals, but I still like it.

- Deus Ex: HR is pure awesome, I loved the game and listening to the soundtrack just totally evokes the story.

- Far Cry 3: Not the most obvious soundtrack in the game, but it is still pretty OK.

- Dishonored, just got this and it sounds pretty good, someone already mentioned this track but it is too damn good to not post again.

Oh, and I have also been meaning to listen to the Oblivion and Skyrim soundtracks.

Most of my music library consist of game and anime soundtracks. What I listen to depends on what I was playing/watching at the time and my mood, but the one soundtrack I keep going back to is the Xenosaga series, especially Episode I. Recently I've been listening to a lot of Final Fantasy XIII-2.

I find myself listening to these fairly often:
Silent Hill 1 and 2
Ace Attorney series
Bioshock
Katawa Shoujo
Metal Gear Solid 3
Shadow of the Colossus
Alone in the Dark (2008)

EDIT: OH! How could I forget Chrono Cross and the Half-Life series! Especially Chrono Cross. That's possibly my favorite game soundtrack of all.

Oh plenty of the music I listen to regularly is from video games.

I do think the Sonic series will by far and away have the most tracks I'll listen to. I can't think of a game in the series that has had a bad OST.

Bastion (awesome game, awesome soundtrack)
VVVVVV (a few of the tracks are really nice)
FTL (more than a few nice tracks in there)
Super Hexagon (I found the game dull, but the soundtrack is pretty good)
