I'm not going to consider getting it if it's thinner than the Iphone 4. The thickness of the Iphone 4 is damn-near perfect size for me.
Indeed. I have the 3G S and wouldn't know how to survive without this huge chunky cover I bought for it.[footnote]Wow does that sound sarcastic in my head. Please know that I'm being serious.[/footnote]

Hmm. Another iPhone. I wonder how many people who already have an iPhone are going to buy this too. Eventually Apple are going to run out of legitimate customers. The only people who will probably buy any future version of the iPhone are going to be techies and collectors (and idiots) due to most people having an iPhone or hating the iPhone/Apple.

They have to come out with new iPhones every year - have you ever had to deal with an iPhone for a year?

Lemme tell you about mine - the lock button no longer works. So it won't lock when I want it to. It will, however, decide to lock whenever I'm using it. And it will precede to lock, for however long it wants to have a fit for, no matter how much I press the home key. This usually just results in it taking screen caps.

THEN THE BACKLIGHT WENT OUT. Lemme tell you how fun it is to use an iphone when the backlight is dead - its akin to wiping your ass with a coathanger.

THEY WERE IMPRESSIVE WHEN THEY WEREN'T THE ONLY SMARTPHONE ON THE MARKET. ADDING A GIG OF RAM WON'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT YOUR PHONES ARE CRAP.

Seriously. They arent even stepping up their game. Why do people put up with it?
Well I don't know everything about your experience but my iPhone 4 is in perfect working order after having it for about 9 months. No faults whatsoever and it does everything I want it to.
I really don't understand all the iPhone hate. Obviously Apple are doing something right and people are still buying their products. If you don't like it, buy something else.

They'll fix the antenna and call it a feature enhancement because everyone Apple fanatic will not accept that their 4g had an antenna problem. iPhone 5, now with better cell service.

I will definitely NOT be picking this up.
I can't wait to get rid of my iPhone. I'm seriously considering buying out of my contract and getting a new phone just so I won't have to deal with it anymore.
The reception is shit. It's constantly dropping out, in the middle of calls or texts. And when this happens, a little pop-up appears telling me the network was lost. And then another pop-up will appear asking if I would like to join a wi-fi network the phone has found.
Getting messages pop up as your trying to send a text is seriously infuriating!
The battery life is atrocious.
I can't hang up a call anymore either, for some odd reason. I press "end call" and it doesn't register. Very annoying when you can't end a call!
The home button doesn't work either. You really have to push it with some force for it to actually do anything.

I am done with iPhones. Can't wait to get rid of it.

Bring on the Samsung Galaxy.

Way back when the iPhone was the only real option it was pretty freaking awesome. Sadly since then Android phones have come into the picture and now offer a far better phone than what you're even going to be likely to get with this new iPhone. The only thing the iPhone really has going for it now is the brand.

With Apple's desperate need to control every tiny aspect of their product they have strangled out any hope of any real innovation. Their products are falling further and further behind the curve and any more are nothing more than a means of fleecing the uneducated masses. You're typical iPhone user would buy a pile of shit if it had the Apple logo stamped on it.

They are announcing an announcement again. Fuck this world. And fuck Apple and their useless iPhone. It's a phone. You use it to call and send messages. Anything else they put into it will only be interesting the first few times you do it. Then you'll forget all about it. It's just too expensive.

What Apple doesn't want you to know is that it's buying Scrooge McDuck's vault to serve as its new headquarters.
You're telling me Apple can afford that?! When did this happen!?
Apple currently has more money than the American government and it comes as no surprise that Apple is still executing this business plan of theirs but believe me i still love their ipod's because i happen to use one of their older models but i still don't like what they are currently up to.
I sincerely hope you realize I was being sarcastic.

Of course not, but it's wrong to come out with a "new" model every year which adds little to nothing, charge full price then hail it as the new innovation. Microsoft's products do get better over time, they're called Windows updates. They don't come out with a new version every year and charge you full price.

Apple's business model:

"We know we told you the model that you paid $500 for last year was the best, just like we told you about the model we released the year before, and the year before that. But trust us, this model will be the best!

*coughcoughuntilnextyearcoughcough*".

Also, this seems appropriate.

Is it wrong that apple's products get better over time? Unlike umm *CoughMicrosoftCough*
Sounds like someone doesn't use windows 7. Win 7 beats the hell out of vista and is better then XP.

Well, iCult, I mean Apple, is nothing if not predictable. Apple does this for all of their yearly hardware revisions of every product. The simple fact that this announcement is taking place is not news, nor is the iPhone5 announcement news. iOS5 is feature complete, and most of its features are out in the wild in the official beta builds, so that is not news either. So then what is the news? The reason that they need to put out new, more powerful hardware, and as far as the tech scutttlebutt is going, that thing is the one thing they haven't talked about or shown in the iOS5 beta, Voice Control. Is this news? No. Do people thinks its news? Yes. Why? Again, tech scuttlebutt, that it will be on-device decoding of voice data. Again, another feature that Android has had for awhile now, though Android does it through Google's cloud servers instead of on-device. This is plus and minus for both, but again, this is not news.

***** and moan we can, and nothing will change, just give them your money or not. Its the same thing that happened in the NES/SNES era with videogames. Sure, SEGA was around, but videogames were "Nintendo" until the PS1 came along. Just like now where Android exists, and combined has sold more units than iPhones, but smartphones are "iPhones". Grand scheme, I have invested in iOS (2nd gen iPod Touch) and in Android (Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate), and between the two, Android won out for me. Why? Because Doggcatcher is better for dealing with podcasts than iTunes. In the future, short of a massive f---up on Android, or iOS/iTunes learning how to deal with podcasts properly, I will probably stick with Android (please let Nexus Prime hit Verizon).

But in all truth, and I realize this probably won't happen, I just want smartphones to stop being "iPhones" and start being "smartphones". Because the combination of both euphoria and outrage these announcements cause is tiring. Well, that and I am against organized religions.

What's with all the whinging? Yeah, Apple released a new product. A slightly improved version of an existing product. Companies do that, you know. EVERY phone manufacturer does it. Don't like it? Don't buy it. You're not being forced to. Just stop going on forums and trying to convince people how cool you are because you're buying from multinational corporation B instead of multinational corporation A, because you look like a fucking douche.

The new Iphone 48!

Now with many Stolen features that Android for years new features!
Both iphone and android should be given credit for their fair share of innovation over the years. Remember there was a time when Android was playing catch up too in terms of features. You also need to remember that without the iPhone, we probably wouldnt have the wide range of operating systems available today, the phone market would be very different.

Give the iPhone credit where its due.

Why bother upgrading it? just slap a green alien on it (or whatever else happens to be "cool-but-not-hipster-honest" these days)
