I love how everybody always complains about the yearly iPhone updates, and forget the strongest alternative, Android, has it's 'best new phone' replaced practically every month.... Besides, you really think it's only Apple that does yearly updates? Of course not. Are you so surprised that the sequel to the consistently best selling phone on the Market gets so much hype? Of course not. So stop complaining.

Going off speculation, it's outspecced by the likes of the Galaxy SII that's already been out a number of months and will be even more-so by it's "truer" competitor, the Nexus Prime (or Droid Prime, whatever). Not to mention WP 7.5 Mango making WP even more competitive. So the only logical reason to buy an iPhone at this juncture is:

1. You've already heavily invested into the Apple ecosystem and it won't make financial sense to deviate now.

2. You're a pretentious tool who wants a fashion icon.

Of course, the fifth time round Apple could actually come up with something 'magical' and 'revolutionary' and stop lying through their teeth with their advertisements. On that day, the animal that provides us all with bacon will have mastered aviation, however.

Apple's business model:

Also, this seems appropriate.

Is it wrong that apple's products get better over time? Unlike umm *CoughMicrosoftCough*

I do use windows 7. It is definitely better then vista (No shit) but is very bloated when compared to XP. The only reason to upgrade to 7 is because of DX11 support, which is the only reason to use windows at all. Product quality certainly shouldn't go up and down with every release, with later releases only benefits being the fact that they support first party software that was intentionally dropped from older versions for this exact reason. Every version of OS X, however is better then the last, each making a better operating system, while microsoft trips over its own feet to beat XP.

Of course not, but it's wrong to come out with a "new" model every year which adds little to nothing, charge full price then hail it as the new innovation. Microsoft's products do get better over time, they're called Windows updates. They don't come out with a new version every year and charge you full price.
Oh, so windows is better because it has software updates? It's not like every other operating system out there does software updates better then them. Also, lets think about it this way. I just upgraded to Lion. I just upgraded to Windows 7. Windows 7 costed me $149, and it only gave me one license. Lion costed me $30, and it gave me 5 licenses. To get 5 licenses of Windows 7, I would have had to dish 700 bucks more then I would have with OS X, I could buy another computer with that amount of money.

You think that it is wrong that apple charges you full price when they update their HARDWARE? They should give you a discount because you already have one, with entirely different components? What company does that?

Apple currently has more money than the American government and it comes as no surprise that Apple is still executing this business plan of theirs but believe me i still love their ipod's because i happen to use one of their older models but i still don't like what they are currently up to.
Just curious, what are they up to that you don't like? Factory conditions? Best in the entire tech industry. Environmental impact? Also, best in the entire tech industry. Customer satisfaction? Like the others.
Or is it the speed that they update their products, because I actually like that, while it does make you feel stupid for buying one last year.
It sounds to me like your putting Apple in the best light right there while i do agree with some aspects of their technology as being great some others in the industry are not and their factory conditions are at best but the need to mass produce the same exact product with minor changes does not exactly seem like the best idea let alone show good intentions of promising an increase in advanced technology when they could just spend a couple of years and make an entirely complete different model far compared to the last one.
Excuse me if I am wrong... iPhone 4 had entirely different monitor, chassis, camera, flash, screen, ANOTHER camera, antennae, gyroscope, AND circuitry from the previous version. That is about as different as you can get, and that is in just one year.

I never said Windows was better, but I'll leave this here http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2011/may/21/apple-upgrades-itunes-version
At least Windows users never had to upgrade OS's just to use a music player.

404 on that link. But from what I can tell from your comments, its that apple cut support for iTunes on very old operating systems. Not only does microsoft do this with every bit of the few intellectual properties they haven't abandoned altogether, but microsoft doesn't even have an iTunes. You guys have windows media player, which is pretty much quicktime without all the advanced export options and the ability to edit video inside of it. That is an insanely weak argument you have.

It's fixed. If someone with windows XP from 2001 or linux can use Itunes but an apple user with an OS older than 3 years can't, there's a problem.

" the same exact product with minor changes" It is not the same product, the changes aren't minor. People rip on apple all day for releasing the same thing every year, but fail to realize that nearly every internal and external component is entirely different from the last version.

okay let's give it another year and see what comes around and then i'll bump this thread once again to duke it out with an Apple fan.

Your wasting your time and mine by trying to refute me so i'd just not bother and go post somewhere where an argument won't begin over your love of some product.

Wasn't this story already up... like a year ago... and a year before that too. Wierd.

It's not very efficient to buy a product that costs as much as an IPhone if its going to be obsolete in a year. Its quiet an investment for a 12 month item.

I just think it's silly to have so many people bashing on a company over something that is simply not true.

You could say that about ANY phone. You seriously think Apple's competitor's won't upgrade their products next year? And what about PC components? But you know what? It doesn't matter, because....
A: No-one is forcing you to buy it.
B: Just because a newer version is released, that does not mean the older version suddenly stops working. If you're happy with the older version, then you don't have to rush out and replace it (typing this on a 3GS btw).
C: What other people spend their money on is their business, and no-one else's.

Have a nice day.

It's great how you put words into my mouth, but you really shouldn't I already had diner. I'm just saying that I don't think it's a good buy. I don't care what other people think and I'm passing judgment on it. My phone is at least 5 years old and was specifically purchase because its an unkillable brick that will last forever. My computer is 3 years old and I when I bought it I planned to have it for at least all 4 years of college. I know technology changes quickly but I'm going to make an investment of few hundred I want something that is going to last a while before need to be replaced. That's my opinion and the reason I'm not buying this phone. If you want me to post something else then your SOL because that's how I feel.

After my Iphone broke I finally saw though the veil of fanboyism and got a droid. I've never looked back.

They have to come out with new iPhones every year - have you ever had to deal with an iPhone for a year?

Lemme tell you about mine - the lock button no longer works. So it won't lock when I want it to. It will, however, decide to lock whenever I'm using it. And it will precede to lock, for however long it wants to have a fit for, no matter how much I press the home key. This usually just results in it taking screen caps.

THEN THE BACKLIGHT WENT OUT. Lemme tell you how fun it is to use an iphone when the backlight is dead - its akin to wiping your ass with a coathanger.

THEY WERE IMPRESSIVE WHEN THEY WEREN'T THE ONLY SMARTPHONE ON THE MARKET. ADDING A GIG OF RAM WON'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT YOUR PHONES ARE CRAP.

Seriously. They arent even stepping up their game. Why do people put up with it?
Maybe take it to an apple store? Either their product quality or their customer service gives them the highest consumer satisfaction in their industry..
A friend of mine had the backlight of her Iphone die as well. Its a common occurrence apparently and seeing as how big Apple is its a surprising flaw

Well apple does have the advantage of not having to worry about legacy support at all, really they just cut support for old OS's and expect people to upgrade, microsoft has been wanting to stop support for xp but so many people still use it that they have had to keep going and going, plus, windows is a much more open operating system then anything mac has done, if you want to do something in windows you can pretty much do it, if you want to do something in a mac os you better hope that apple lets you.
