Apple's Steve Jobs Calls Out Google, Adobe

Its funny, I work at a Liberal College in Vermont, and everyone has a mac, I myself have a nice Samsung Netbook and I hear at least once a day that I should have bought a Mac Book, I have a Palm Pre, and hear every day that I should have a Iphone. It gets rather annoying.

Apple has done very much the same thing Nintendo has done, it has created a massive fan base and now just keeps releasing the same thing over and over with minor upgrades and for some reason the fans keep buying.

Apple and all the "i" products is a lifestyle now. I like the look on peoples faces when they use my Pre and realize that the WebOS can have more then one open app at a time! They are shocked, but then always say something about how its not made by Apple so it must be crap.

As for the Adobe thing, yes Flash crashed Macs, I see it in our computer lab all the time, but I have this feeling that's more on Apple then Adobe as I have always had a feeling Apple did not like how much of a internet standard market share Adobe has right now. If you can make Flash look unstable and badly made to all the simple minded people out there with a iBook, and iPhone and a iPad, it will be much less work to convince them all the HTML 5 is better. (I am not saying if you have a iPhone or whatever, then you are simple minded but that I know a lot of simple minded people who buy Apple products like they were dipped in gold)

As for Google, I like and hate them. They have grown to the point where I start to worry they have to much market power. Then again, Microsoft and the like already have to much market power so maybe I am just making stuff up at this point.

End all, the iPhone was cool, but Android and WebOS based phones are better. The iPad is stupid and is around because people will buy it. Flash is here to stay and Apple needs to come to terms with that ..

Just a tad. Although, got to give him credit at least he is speaking his mind
Perhaps. But being a dick out loud is hardly much better than just being a dick.
Hahaha! Well put!

Jobs is just pissed because the iPad is irrelevant, except for a few jokes here and there.
I have an Android, and I wouldn't trade it for an iPhone.

I never owned a single Apple product, because I hate Apple.

The iPhone is sweet, though. But I never use my cell phone, so I'm not going to upgrade to a smartphone of any sort.

Steve Jobs seems like a dick.
its like you read my mind...and then put it in a much better way than I could

Jobs is a salesman. Nothing more. He has little or nothing to do with designing how Apple's devices or software works. Apple's marketing is better than their products, and its all thanks to Jobs.

Oh, and QuickTime is garbage. It causes my media players and browsers to crash all the time. I hate how so many websites only offer streaming trailers in .mov format. I just find them on youtube instead. Why doesn't Apple stop being so lazy and develop decent media software for once?
Jobs=Hypocrite.

Jobs pulled no punches, calling Adobe "lazy,"
Oh yes Steve, because NOT supporting the current industry standard isn't being lazy and pigheaded as well.

GG Mr. Jobs, you've set technology back 10 years by making the iPhone 10x bigger.

Well, looks like a certain CEO forgot to take his nap.

I've never bought an apple product and I don't plan to any time soon.

I feel like people forget that once upon a time Apple was given a little extra funding boost by Microsoft so they could stay afloat. Due to this Apple was able to pull themselves together and now as others mentioned attempt to control every corner of the electronics market. If I was Google, Adobe, Sony, or any other large electronics company I'd tell Apple to screw off and go do my own thing and not let them get any rewards from my work. Steve Jobs is probably one of my most hated people in the industry.

What they said. Too many browser crashes because of QuickTime. Or the browser simply freezes to load a little QuickTime bar hidden somewhere on the page.

On another note, is HTML 5 really the future? I may be out of the loop but I've only heard about it with the iPad's release. I performed one of those "aww shucks" head shakes when I heard it didn't have Flash support or the ability to multitask. There's an article on io9 about how the iPad is crap futurism.

As for Jobs' comments about Google and Adobe, 'iPod' is, regrettably, synonymous with mp3 players and usually used in electronics store catalogues as a term to replace 'mp3 Player'. Apple really hasn't a leg to stand on in the monopoly debate.

I'm still convinced that Steve Jobs personally hijacks my iPod a la the Harbinger in ME; that thing is a bitchy piece of shit. I have had such poor experiences with Apple products and users in the past 5 years that I vow to never buy another product from them until they clean things up.

I really don't understand why Jobs is so vehemently opposed to finally having competitors in the smart phone etc. markets. For all that it's considered to be fighting "the man" Apple really is just another of the same.

I've never owned an Apple product until I bought my Gf an iPod Nano for xmas, so she gave me her old iPod.

The reason I'd not been interested in an Apple MP3 player is because Apple has always came off as elitist to me. Articles like this just confirm this point of view for me.

Side note:
I decided to use my Gf's old iPod (as my MP3 player was on its last legs)
Any way, I had to set up my old PC with XP installed, as apple doesnt support Linux, and apparently (according to the Ubuntu community) as Apple keeps updating its software so often, no music apps created for linux to interface with an iPod work anymore.

Mac: Hi there, I'm a Mac

PC: and I'm a PC

Mac: You know, PC, my UI is a lot more streamlined, my notebooks are popular among the college crowd, and my phone device is a hot seller. I'm a lot better at marketing too, but when people criticize my small, incremental upgrades at higher prices, I lash out and become bitter that people dare question me.

PC: Oh? I donated 10 billion dollars for vaccines in 3rd world countries.

Mac: ....

Go Steve.

Adobe has no business bashing Apple even if there is no Flash. Steve and Adobe both know that.

The Mac Plus was the longest computer I ever owned. It wasn't easy for me to get it--I was a Commodore fan boy at the time. But seven years I owned it, that at a time when processor speeds and memory capacity were advancing far more quickly than they are now. And the cool thing is, other than Internet surfing, it did pretty much every thing I use my computer for now. Yes, it played many fun games. I was less enthused about the LC, and after that, jumped over to windows, and admittedly haven't looked back when it comes to PCs.

The iPhone was my next Apple product. It is nice, some oddities to its interface though, a better product is possible, but won't be easy.

The iPad--I may well get one if I don't have to pay connections charges beyond what I already pay for the iPhone. If I do, the iPhone is a reasonably good mobile surfer.

In any case, the tech revolution wouldn't have been the same without Apple. It wouldn't have been as good. Windows? Bringing that to the personal computer was Steve's idea. PCs? It was Apple that brought those into the living room. The industry has made fortunes many times over stealing his ideas.

Is Jobs just mad that the iPad didn't get the orgasmic welcome from everybody as he expected? His little fit just seems a mixture of that and nervousness over Google's potential threat to Apple.

Wait, his ideas?

You really think that one man has come up with every idea that you listed?

I guess its his job to bash other companies to make people buy from his.

Seriously though, while my ipod is good and everything, steve jobs and apple in general is starting to piss me off.
