Now, to clarify, this is not synonymous with 'Are gays/homophobes all evil?' This is about a straight man (or even woman) having one or more romantic crush/es on members of the same sex.

I mentioned once to my girlfriend that I had little crushes on a friend I have, (the young) John Lennon, and John Barrowman's coat. I also once... Experimented with a bloke I know. I am neither ashamed nor proud of that moment, and we are still friends, so as far as I can say, it was just 'an experience.' One that changed my 'interested in' on Facebook for precisely three months.
Anyway, my girlfriend brought this up (with a small amount of disgust, and sparing no details) in a conversation with my parents. Not to ramble about my own life, but I wish she'd take a hint sometimes.

Anyway, I publicly announced all that just to ask a very broad question; was I really all that weird? Or was my girlfriend blowing it all out of proportion?

Honestly, no. There is nothing wrong with experimenting. If you're absolutely sure you feel nothing for guys, then call yourself straight. If you're not sure, then just think harder lol. There's nothing wrong with it. Hormones go crazy and what not. You might like guys. Who knows? That's for you to find out a definite answer to eventually. Just don't rush yourself.
Also, no. It's not that big of a deal. She was just likely trying to embarass you in front of your parents because she was upset at you for something. I don't know for sure, but there's nothing wrong or abnormal about what you did. You just decided to talk about it, is all.

I'm sure feelings are perfectly fine. I have a total man crush on David Mitchell, even though I'm completely straight. He's not even attractive, I just love his personality! (He's a British comedian btw, you're allowed to have man crushes on famous people)

However, I'm interested to know just how far this "experiment" went?

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Your girlfriend sounds kind of stupid, I would avoid telling her anything you weren't willing to tell everyone. As for man crushes.... I don't know, maybe? Really I've kind of assumed that really at least 30-50% of the population are bi but either don't realize it or feel the need to hide it.

No. If you ever feel you have a man-crush, you need to castrate yourself before you go around humping everything in sight. It's a terrible disease and you should feel ashamed of yourself.

Honestly? What do you think? :)

they're absolutely normal, particularly for male teens. It's actually unusual to not have one if you are truly honest with yourself. My one was ironic. The friend I did get a crush on came out of the closet recently anyway

None of my man crushes are fictional "Sephiroth. Yep."

I guess it's just context, I live in one of the gay capitals of the world so I'm bound to know about homosexuality, which is why I don't understand other people's spite and hate for homosexuals. If she's being "homophobic" (wrong word but everyone uses it like this) then she's in the wrong, if it was done during the relationship and could be considered cheating then she's right. If the girl did this to me I'd have chucked her out of my house and told her to go fuck herself.

As long as you didn't do it whilst you were going out with her, don't brag about it and her religion (if she has one) means she would have rejected you from the start if she'd known then I see no problem with what you did.

I have a girl crush on Ellie Goulding btw, her and Jesse J (British musicians/pop stars).

It's completely normal. And honestly? Your girlfriend sounds like a bit of a *****. You admit something to her, and she completely disrespects your privacy and trust, to your parents no less. The disgust part is what annoyed me the most.

But meh. That wasn't what you asked for. And maybe I'm just being overly sensitive.

Yep, I'm pretty much as straight as you get and even I've found several men attractive before... though I wouldn't actually make out with one as that would be kinda gross for me.

Perfectly normal. Most of my man-crushes have been with singers though so i don't know what to say about crushing on male friends.

...is a very sexy man with an awesome voice :D

Socialogy tells us that everyone, will be attracted to someone of the same sex, sometime during their life.

I think youre normal, and that its not a big deal, and i think your girlfriend is a *****.

Who brings that crap up with your parents after you told them in confidence??

Good grief, man! That's all I've got to say! =P

OT: YOU DON'T DESERVE YOUR PENIS! (Says the bisexual guy...(!))

All kidding aside, what do you think?! Have you seen the number of 'who would you go gay for threads?' around here?!

Still, I think your gf was really petty in gabbing to your parents about it, real dickmove there... If she goes crazy over something so trivial, I'd be veering toward the 'dump her' line of advice.

There's nothing wrong with it or weird, but personally, I don't see why sexuality has to be black or white. You sound bisexual to me, if only a kinsey 2, but whatever.

Your girlfriend is definately blowing things out of proportion. Nothing wrong with exploring your sexuality. I'm sure the vast majority of the Escapist community will say the same.

Kinsey Scale, dude, you sound like a one or two, I consider myself gay at five, so there's that. Not a big deal unless you make it one, or society does, which it often does...

Oh, please. Of course they're normal. I firmly believe that everyone at least has a crush on Neil Patrick Harris.

Few are completely heterosexual or completely homosexual. It's all on a sliding scale where people may be bunched in a few spots, but many others exist in between.

So yeah, it's isn't that weird. Your girlfriend might be afraid that you'll cheat on her with a person of the same sex, but just reassure her that it won't happen.

I didn't think man-crush was sexual, by definition.

I always considered it to be a fusion of spirit, replete with fist bumping and bro-fives and utterance of "FUCK YEHA! YOU ROCK"
