Asian Models Demonstrate Kinect Badly

I think this motion control thing is going to come out to a wash. Kinect is obviously looking pretty damn bad, and I dunno much about Move, but to me it looks like a Wii-mote clone. So maybe the Wii will remain untouched on the pedestal of shiniest gimmick. At the least, Kinect is gonna bomb. Poor, stupid Microsoft. I am so glad I'm not buying this ($150 for this?).

the wii-mote doesnt work. It will misinterperate any motion that isn't rediculously overexagerated, and it misinterperets some of them too.
What brought on the exaggerated, incorrect Wii bashing? First of all, the controller works, even in motion-heavy games like Wii Sports. Secondly, the Wii had nothing to do with the video.

Hot models demonstrating your new upcoming product is usually a good thing, unless that product is Micrsoft's Kinect.
That last sentence is missing the first "o" in Microsoft.

OT: Hilarious.

Well... I was on the fence about Kinect... between this and seeing Angry Joe and Spoony over at That Guy With The Glasses demo it just shows it ain't worth the 150 bucks.

Why all the hate? Seriously, watch the video feed instead of the asians, and you'll see that they were standing too close to each other. It kept telling the one to move more left, which is why it wasn't responding to her. They were almost running into each other. All I see in this thread are Sony fanboys looking for a reason to prod at the Kinect more.
It's not like it's the first fail demonstrated by Kinect. First was the racism since it couldn't pick up blacks or black clothes on E3, then between the event by microsoft and the event at ubisoft the girl apparently grew 10 centimeters because the game was giving her a new height, which means failure at depth perception, then on Jimmy Kimmel on the game where they go downriver it displayed massive amounts of lag, with some jumps taking over 1 second to register.
Also, IGN just did a preview where they were allowed to demo a couple games and massacred it for bad responsiveness and just being overall shit, specially on the driving game.

Really, how many failures are necessary until fanboys stop accusing people of being biased when they mock Kinect's failures? I mean, I'm a playstation guy, and will probably avoid Move because I don't really like motion controls, but all their demos show incredible responsiveness and I might buy it with the gun for SOCOM, while Kinect just looks like an overpriced camera and microphone.

Not that i'd ever stand up for this stupid thing. But The strobelight onslaught of camera flashes may of had something to do with it. Just a hunch.

At least it didn't red ring.

Well good thing I want nothing to do with this piece of crap, I sorta hope this just fizzles and dies and no one tried anything like it again.

That sucks. Darn. Oh well. I haven't seen much on the Move, my hopes in motion controller is ever failing.

I don't own an xbox, ps3, or a wii and I still think it is junk. Just review microsoft's hystory. Windows Millennium = fail, Windows Vista = epic fail, xbox 360 overheating = fail, xbox live being "difficult" for game developers to work with = fail, and several other things that are less about microsoft "failing" and more about them trying to make windows more "user friendly" when what it is really doing is driving the general computer user insane.

That being said, I'm not saying Sony and Nentendo don't have issues either, but they do have the better record for not half-ass doing things. In my case it less about being a "fanboy" of anything and more about what the facts look like. It may work great when it comes out, and if it does, excelent. I'm still not going to buy a console built by Microsoft or any of it's hardware just based on the fact that I have been using their software 1/2 my life (not by choice, since 95% of everything REQUIRES Windows to function) and I find it to be 1/2 way done, "lets get it out the door", and make sure it is "even more user friendly", (which translates to even more annoying and even less functional) giant peice of junk.

Anyway, what do I know. Those of you who wish to buy another Microsoft product, by all means do so. I hope it does work great for you, and I hope you have lots of fun using it. Its all about what is fun and entertaining for you, and for me, watching Microsoft fail is tons of fun.

wow ... I was actually thinking about buying a 360 w/ the Kinect when the first FPS came out that used the technology correctly.

I can see now that I'll be waiting at least 5 years for them to get the bugs out and actually get something together that looks good AND works like it's supposed to.

Also, notice the Flash from the Cameras? That might have something to do with it...?

Either way, lets wait till Kinect is out BEFORE we start saying how the technology doesnt work... If were going to hate on it, we might as well give it a CHANCE to (attempt) to prove us wrong...
This. Let's at least actually wait until we get to try it ourselves and see how it works in the kind of environment it will more likely be used. We really do have to give these things a proper chance first.

That, and I really want Child of Eden to work with Kinect...

I actually think this was the models fault, the screen was telling them to move left and occasionally said to come forward. And like someone mentioned before, the models were really not that pretty.

The wii mote was brought up several times. and I have played numerous games on the wii, and i have never found one where the wii-mote actually worked properly, and ive tried on 3 wiis, with like 10 contollers, they get big stuff, sorta, but not the little stuff.

How many Kinects do people expect to be sold worldwide in its first year?

I have no issue with it, not my thing, but is there any sense this has much appeal?
