"But I don't plan to back down from the fight. I started my mission and I plan to finish it."
Your 'mission' will never be finished, Atkinson. You can't outlive democracy. You can't babysit people's children for them forever. Your backwards political stance isn't doing anything to help protect children. If your own insane theories about 'violence' and 'sexual depravity' had any grounding in reality (they don't), introducing an 18+ rating would help keep games like GTA and Left 4 Dead out of the hands of children who they might effect psychologically (which they cannot do).
No, you are not doing this out of any concern for the public. You are a self-serving Luddite who thinks he knows what's best for the gamers of Australia. You slander them and insult their hobby, but cry "Foul!" when they retaliate in any way. You ignore the civil, eloquent and intelligent arguments presented to you daily, but you single out threats and libel from a minority that do not represent gamers as a whole to make your argument seem stronger.
You'll notice how I didn't resort to using words like 'losers' or 'nerds' in my argument, as you have done numerous times. I've been playing video games for 10 years, Atkinson. Does that make my argument invalid? Am I a drugged-up sociopath who has clearly been brainwashed by a decade of gaming? Think what you will. I don't care. You will be gone, eventually. Your legacy will be a black mark on Australian political history, but my hobby will still be here. Video games are a young medium. We started out with Pac-Man and Jet Set Willy, now we have true works of art like Shadow of the Colossus and Half Life that trounce most movies. I look forward to the future, where gaming will be even more prominent and, if you'll excuse my lack of sophisticated words; "artsy". But you won't be here. You'll have no say in what video games the nation of Australia is allowed to play, whether they be deep, mature Role-Playing Games, or simply the next blockbuster First Person Shooter.
Gaming is fast becoming an art form, whether you like it or not. Games are no longer for children, as you so often claim. To insinuate such is just pettiness. Let gamers decide what games they should play. Don't delay democracy just because it doesn't suit you.
Grow up, Michael.
