Screw it, I don't even care anymore, i'm learning Japanese and that's that.
Hmmmmm, you might have the right idea there.
I was looking forward to this bizarre game. I hope that Atlus decides to release it over here later on.

I choose "curl into fetal ball and sob".

I was certain that Atlus would be bring it over. I would have bet my cat. I was psyched. I was ready to pre-order both the 360 and PS3 version to support it.
But then HOW WOULD THEY AFFORD TO BRING US ALL THESE WII PARTY GAMES AND NARUTO TIE-IN GAMES?

CLEARLY THAT MUST REMAIN THEIR TOP PRIORITY.

[sub]Thanks, Atlus USA, for backstabbing us all.[/sub]
Who wants to bet that statement is retracted in a couple of months when their fans outside of Japan start raising hell on every Atlus site on the internet? [sub]One can hope...[/sub]

If you follow japanese rpg developers, then you won't find it surprising at all. It isn't the first japanese game to be not brought over. I was surprised by The Last Story, as I too expected bringing it over to be the norm. But now, I don't find it surprising at all. Not that I think it makes sense. Catherine has already had a tonne of publicity which will have helped sell it greatly.
I don't usually find it surprising when something relatively obscure (here or there) or a cool re-release gets redlit for localization [small](see: La Pucelle: Ragnarok, most of the Tales series ;_;)[/small], but it's surprising because of the specific companies involved.

Atlus USA is the American publishing arm of Atlus, and they've released nearly every first-party Atlus game. We never got Innocent Sin, but that's pretty much the only exception since the PS1 era [small](yes, someone here will think of some really obscure game I missed, but my point remains valid)[/small].

When you consider that and all the interest Catherine has generated online, it doesn't make any sense to ignore it.

At this point it's like NISA not releasing the next Disgaea.

Real women won't chase me with a giant pair of scissors while I climb a tower in my dreams, your argument is invalid.

Bit of a shame, looked like an interesting game. Shame that the company are run by bellends.

You clearly aren't on the right drugs.

Can't say I'm surprised, I'm sure that there would've been plenty of hype by idiots in the West declaring it to be 'video game porn' on a similar vein to RapeLay. I saw a brief let's play off the Japanese demo awhile back, looked fairly interesting. Even though I couldn't understand a word the characters were saying, a couple people translated it and it actually seemed like a very involving story.

I considered actually getting a 360 for this game because it interested me but ATLUS just killed it for me. I loved their trauma center and Persona games. What a shame ~sigh~

You see, i'm a PC gamer, so i don't care. None of Atlus's titles have been ported to the PC so i can neatly say that this one won't be either.
Someone hasn't heard of Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_megami_tensei_imagine]...

Anyhow... *curls up in fetal position and starts sobbing* There goes one of my most anticipated games of 2011...

I can't help but feel a little suspicious that Atlus are just saying this so that people want the game (since they can't have it) then when it's finally released here it's guarenteed to sell well. That's what I'm hoping for, at least.

Maybe so, but it depends on how you look it. Mistwalker or well Nintendo, since they'd be publishing it also had a good track record for releasing things out side of Japan, with the possible exception of xenoblade, but look what happened there. I suppose I'm pretty negative in general mind though which probably didn't help the fact I wasn't surprised by it. Europe never gets anything, so, it's better to be pessimistic rather than be positive and get disappointed a lot.

As I said, I don't think it makes sense either, but I guess Atlus have their reasons.

Oh and I wouldn't compare it to the next disgaea being localised, that's a main series title, and not a new IP meaning it already has a fanbase. I suppose that is being a bit nit picky though, hehe.

Cant say i never saw this comming, come on wasnt it marketed as erotic? Did you really expect that to come to get an English release.
It was, somewhat. But the game itself doesn't seem that extreme really. They would just have to tone down when they advertise the game, as well as getting rid of the suggestive coverart.

Welp, good thing I've begun teaching myself Japanese a semester before taking Japanese in college for a year, before studying abroad in Sapporo my senior year for 24 credit hours of soul-crushing language training coupled with the immersion of being in the country in the first place.

It just doesn't add up. Catherine was hyped way more than the upcoming sequel to Demon's Souls. What could they possibly gain by ignoring what could be a successful (in terms of sales) localization AND alienating their fan base? Me thinks someone at Atlus USA has made a major blunder and doesn't realize it yet.

I guess that wasn't a "bald faced lie" as I said earlier.

Not only has Atlus destroyed my soul with their games, but now they tear my heart to pieces by not releasing them.

Who the hell are BeefJack, and why should I trust that they are the first site to be told that Catherine won't be coming to America? Seems odd to me.
