Seriously, am I the first person to come up with that, at least on the escapist?

That. Is. Awesome.
You'd better head to a patent office.
I read the term "avatard" in the latest issue of entertainment weekly, so someone beat him to it.

Yes, the graphics were stunning, but good visuals don't make a good movie.
True, but it doesn't have to be a good movie to entertain at least a bit.

The same thing happend to an old lady when Spawn came out. What an old lady was doing watching that movie is the real mystery.

Ouch.

Honestly, Avatar 3D isn't a movie I'd like to die watching. There are waaaaaaaaaaaay better movies to die watching.

Well certainly there are people who take things to the extreme when something 'new' comes out (Referring to the stunning 3D effects).
Especially when it comes to escaping their 'mundane' lives. Just Look at MMOs and drug addictions.

Although I wonder why they'd want to visit Pandora, when everything there seems designed to kill you.
You can't even breathe on the planet.
People are weird.

Anyways, your original post just seemed like a dig at people who liked the movie (I enjoyed it).
That's really what I was addressing.
Nope, I've no problem with people who simply liked it, but people who liked it that much deserve to be called avatards.
Well I loved the movie and i'm sure there are plenty of movies you love that I absolutely hate, opinions are opinions, time to grow up
numero uno) read my earlier post with a link in it, click on the link. those are the people I'm talking about.
numero dos) I'm not a big fan of film, and I avoid watching all that I can, so I doubt there are many movies I've loved that you haven't.

Over excitement?

I was bored throughout that whole goddamn movie.
I know how you feel, it was a pretty good film but I found myself just wondering how long was left until the end for the most part.

...Geez, people. Get over yourselves.
You like it or you don't, but let other people enjoy, or not, the film in peace.
Sheesh.
Agree'd. A problem for me tho, is that friends of mine have been constantly nagging about how awesome this movie is. This has turned me from wanting to see the movie, cause it gives me a headache every time I think of it! I guess I'll buy the DVD when it's released tho...

I liked avatar...

Shame the guy never got to see the cliche end...

I was serious about enjoying the movie despite what "cliche end" might make you think.

Damn straight. Over a billion dollars and soon to be the highest grossing movie ever. Must be something right about it.

well, there are a lot of avatards out there, apparently.
Wait wait. There is a stupid name for the people who enjoyed the film?
Seriously?
I thought you knew that the internet is nothing more than a worldwide schoolyard, where everyone can be a bully and calling each other out over incredibly stupid shit is the actual reason why that girl/boy you're stalking on Facebook won't talk to you.

Apparently in this brave new world we live in, liking Avatar is equivalent to pissing your pants in the middle of a book report, and liking Twilight is the same as having gay sex in the library.

To be fair, I didn't like Avatar, and Twilight doesn't even remotely interest me. I'm also not afraid of the mentally challenged, or homosexuals. So at least there's that.

I liked it. It's not as good as Up. But NOTHING is as good as Up. NOTHING.
Tsk, Up isn't even the best Pixar.

I do not like the cone of shame.
Yeah I enjoyed Up but it wasn't Pixar's best and no where near the best movie ever. I thought it was a bit kiddie rather than the other adult orientated movies. Though the first part when we see him with his wife is very touching.

I remember some people died watching Passion of the Christ. But they were actually in the cinema while this Avatar guy died 11 days later.

Not the first time someone would have died from excitement. It's actually happened quite a bit. A few examples include some dieing from Heart Attacks while listening to a Boxing matches.

Well it started when we used it as a penal colony, and then some crazy bastards decided that they liked being superheated recreationally, so it became a tourist hotspo... I'm sorry, I was thinking of Australia. Same basic rules apply though.
