I liked avatar...

Shame the guy never got to see the cliche end...

I was serious about enjoying the movie despite what "cliche end" might make you think.

I've never seen it. I take it I'm not missing much?

Damn straight. Over a billion dollars and soon to be the highest grossing movie ever. Must be something right about it.

well, there are a lot of avatards out there, apparently.
Wait wait. There is a stupid name for the people who enjoyed the film?
Seriously?
I thought you knew that the internet is nothing more than a worldwide schoolyard, where everyone can be a bully and calling each other out over incredibly stupid shit is the actual reason why that girl/boy you're stalking on Facebook won't talk to you.

Apparently in this brave new world we live in, liking Avatar is equivalent to pissing your pants in the middle of a book report, and liking Twilight is the same as having gay sex in the library.

To be fair, I didn't like Avatar, and Twilight doesn't even remotely interest me. I'm also not afraid of the mentally challenged, or homosexuals. So at least there's that.

Tsk, Up isn't even the best Pixar.

I do not like the cone of shame.
Yeah I enjoyed Up but it wasn't Pixar's best and no where near the best movie ever. I thought it was a bit kiddie rather than the other adult orientated movies. Though the first part when we see him with his wife is very touching.

I remember some people died watching Passion of the Christ. But they were actually in the cinema while this Avatar guy died 11 days later.

Not the first time someone would have died from excitement. It's actually happened quite a bit. A few examples include some dieing from Heart Attacks while listening to a Boxing matches.

Well it started when we used it as a penal colony, and then some crazy bastards decided that they liked being superheated recreationally, so it became a tourist hotspo... I'm sorry, I was thinking of Australia. Same basic rules apply though.

It was a good movie, but not THAT great though. Given how long it's been in production you'd think they could have done a little better than rip of Pochahontas. I mean, I get it, the pictures are pretty. Very Very pretty, but that didn't save Shattered Angels (hurray for semi-obscure anime references) and while making that comparison is an insult to avatar the principle was essentially the same. Then again he was watching it in 3D whereas I just saw it in 2D so all I had to go on was the story, characters and plot but I'm sure I would have enjoyed it a lot beter if shit came out at me.

What ever happened to:
"Hey I saw Avatar!"
"Oh yeah? I did too. I didn't like it very much."
"Really? I enjoyed it! I thought it was a fun movie!"
"Neat. Wanna go grab some ice cream?"
"Sure!"

End Scene!

Geez, people. Get over yourselves.
You like it or you don't, but let other people enjoy, or not, the film in peace.
Sheesh.
Thank you. There's been too much anti-Avatar hate and pro-Avatar rhetoric flying around. If you like it, watch it. If you don't, ignore it. I thought that was a rule of thumb when dealing with polarizing things like this.

As for the OT, I feel depressed just thinking about this. I mean, I know the man must have had some health problems that would have triggered something like this eventually, but I don't think it was the film's fault, necessarily. Equally strenuous activities could have caused this just as easily. My consolations to the man's family- dying while watching a movie isn't one of the most pleasant ways to go.

The movie's box office is currently sitting at just under $1.7 Billion as of Jan 19th. Surely all those people can't be wrong.

Could someone please explain to me how, in the future, even though we can travel between solar systems, switch minds with giant cat people, repair spinal damage, built robot suits, and tell what metals are located underground without drilling, we still use contemporary weapons?

Seriously, guns are the same, just some are bigger, helicopters have a new design, but weapons are the standard rockets and gatling guns, the only thing that isn't contemporary is the gas canisters, and they aren't contemporary because they aren't practical,

Give me a laser, a Gauss rifle, hell, even a biologically engineered virus, anything besides the standard weapons
