I liked it. It's not as good as Up. But NOTHING is as good as Up. NOTHING.
I'm with you there. It was a great movie in it's own right, but Avatar has nothing on Up. No amount of deforestation is going to tug at the heartstrings as the first 15 minutes of Up.
True story right here. No other movie had as much effect on me emotionally than Up.

Not even Mary and Max.

You guys just like to shit on fun don't you? Yes, the story was lame. But there is no way you can deny the movie LOOKED stunning. Jaw-droppingly awesome.

I thought maybe the guy heard Avatar won best picture at the Golden Globes and it gave him a heart attack.

It almost gave me one, that's for sure.

Seriously, am I the first person to come up with that, at least on the escapist?

That. Is. Awesome.
You'd better head to a patent office.

Wow a lot of Avatar hate going on. Personally I liked it and although I respect others opinions I can't understand all the hate... seems to me like one of those popular to hate movies now and I just cannot get my head around why. As said some people might hate it and some may love it thats your opinion but seriously it's garnered a lot of hate for what is a brilliant film almost as if Avatar was the new Twilight of internet discussions.

I'll agree that it's nothing ground breaking but I was entertained. The movie had a decent if not exactly original story, mind blowing spec-effects and some good action sequences. I do get this sense that some people aren't saying they hate it out of their opinions and are mostly saying it because it's popular to say. Kind of like what happened to Halo... a game that while not ground breaking was pretty solid and surprisingly memorable. However people throw hate at this game as if it was Big Rigs.

Yes, the graphics were stunning, but good visuals don't make a good movie.

Yep. What in hell was so amazing about this movie? Sure, it looked pretty, but to the well trained eye, the CGI-ness just pops out at you.
Not a bad movie at all, but nothing amazing. I left the theater with a nagging feeling of disappointment.

So basically some doctor opens his mouth too early and fires off another half-witted speculation on COD for the sake of the press. Again. [http://www.snopes.com/music/artists/mamacass.asp]

And I really don't see any reason to cut Avatar into a binary love-or-despise camp that has to set both sides into a namecalling frenzy. You can hate the movie, you can moderately enjoy the movie for being aesthetically pleasing while overlooking its flaws, or you can uphold it as the pinnacle of screenwriting and philosophy. I fall into the first camp, but I have no problem with people who like Avatar simply for the spectacle of the movie as a SF romance. This isn't Twilight, people - you can enjoy the movie without being terminally stupid and/or a pedophile.

Up is the best movie of the last 27 years, prove me wrong.
