The last sixty years started to offer changed views, as that's when the age of consent laws and protection for young girls really started to show up (In the states and other Western cultures). The fifty years before that were also a pretty big step in that direction. People always tend to white wash history and match modern ideals (or the "right" ideals) with thinking of the period.

in the past kids were also useful long before they are now, I dont mean child labor but an apprentice ship system, now we tend to have to be in school for a very long time before kids are considered useful to society, aside from something to protect and a scape goat

It isn't porn's fault kids are getting pregnant at younger ages, have you ever turned on the TV? There are a LOT of shows about pregnant teens these days and they always make it seem like it is good to knocked up at a young age. Combine that with terrible parents that let the TV raise their kids (Dora the Explorer is the #1 babysitter these days) and don't try to teach their kids any values, and you've got a mess on your hands.
Parents will blame anything on their problems but themselves. Sometimes it isn't entirely bad parenting, but good parenting is almost always certain to counter the crap the media shits out these days. It is just a pity good parenting is a lost art.

I wouldn't really read acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle into your average straight guy's fascination with lesbians, anymore than I would read bigotry into how watching gay porn (of the two or more dudes variety) makes your average straight male kind of want to barf. It's certainly a double standard in the eyes of many to be sure, but it's really got nothing to do with ideology in the first place.

The truth is straight males find women attractive, so situations wherein two or more women start making out appeal to us because we're attracted to all the participants; reverse the situation and we're watching people we are not attracted to getting freaky, and therefore we perceive it as gross, just as we generally do when we think of our parents or *shudder* grandparents getting it on.

Whether or not we are supportive of the lifestyle that leads to those dudes getting freaky with each other doesn't really have anything to do with our desire to watch them in the act.

No, it doesn't. The most glaring problem I see is that if you've never had sex, what the fuck do you think qualifies you to make that kind of judgement call? The other is that you're talking about taking out one of the best parts of life. I mean, I just cannot imagine a world without sex, but I'm guessing it'd be something shallow and sterile. Sex isn't just a means of reproduction or a source of pleasure, although it serves admirably for both. It's also a level of intimacy that transcends what one feels on a day to day basis. It's a connection, it binds people together. Sex is a celebration of the very things that make us human. To talk so casually, so coldly about just getting rid of that is monsterous. It's inhuman. It's frankly terrifying.

The original thought is that chaotic and unchecked birthrates is going to leave our planet dry. Since adequate space travel is turning out to be a pipe dream, it doesn't look as though we will be able to spread to other planets and use those resources. Controlled birth rates suit both situations of both discovering and not discovering quick space travel. But unfortunately, we cannot control birth rates through artificial reproduction as long as humans are able to reproduce on their own. So my next thought was ''sterilization.'' Unfortunately, this alone would cause massive unrest for generations to come from people who still have their sex drives speaking to them. Which leads to the point that sex drives just get in the way of any plans to control birth rates.

This is not the disappearance of a human's own humanity. Humans still have culture. And they will form new culture in time after sex drives are engineered out.

I understand why you think it is monstrous. You still have your sex drive speaking to you. What you imagine is a wound from direct removal and a void. However, time heals all wounds and this is no different.

A quick question though, why would you think a mass sterilization (whether permanent or temporary) wouldn't work and that we should therefore try to remove our own sex drive? What would it matter that if we were still a passionate, sex loving species even after a massive sterilization were to occur? The population then would obviously drop dramatically, solving the overpopulation problem, and as a result we as a people would still be able to thoroughly enjoy our sex drives, with the most prominent and most likely negativity cut out.
