If I recall the extra's on the Bad Company 2 Pre-Order, where exclusive aswell. Exclusive till someone reached Rank 11 that was.

I wonder when Logan Westbrook and the rest of you gained your magical future predicting powers to know exactly how "unbalancing" these weapons will be.

What?! Companies giving "exclusive" in-game items to pre-orders and special editions?! Madness!

Not really concerned bad company 2 was balanced really well all the weapons had pros and cons and some of the better weapons were what you started with or unlocked fairly early, gear doesn't make such a huge difference a lot depends on player skill. Plus no one has played the game its just people getting angry over a perceived issue that might not even exist.

So... am I reading this wrong or is this "omg, preorder gives weapons on day 1 that other people will have to play for a while to get!"? Cause... you know... that's been going on for some time now.

Even if they're exclusive weapons, they're likely to be just super similar or even copies of existing weapons in the game. Even completely different weapons have had a precedent, see the rifle you get in BFBC2 for having bought previous Battlefield games.

Trust me, none of this is gonna be a gamechanger in the final game. People are forgetting that this isn't CoD, it's more dynamic gameplay. There's no cookie cutter weapons, people modify and use all kinds of stuff and what's best depends greatly on you as a player and the situation you're in, which changes even within a single game.

Costing extra? Eh?

I preordered from GAME (UK) and it didn't cost me a penny. And even if it had a £5 pre order charge, it would come off of my final bill. Thus, costing NO extra precious precious monies.

So..... what's the problem again? A company is rewarding people who want to play on day 1?

People need to be more informed to be honest before flying off the handle.

This is why it's best to just not give players the option of having better guns. That's why I like Halo: no matter how long you've played, no one can have better guns than you.

Yes, because this is real war and not a game.
But the game is a simulation of war...
No, Battlefield is not, nor has it ever been, a war-sim. Even if it was, saying that paying more money should grant you higher success rate in-game because that's realistic is one of the dumbest things I've heard in a long time.
You don't have to Pay anymore money than anyone else. And I have to disagree. It may not be a "SIM" in the strictest of details, but I think you're splitting hairs.

There's also this:
http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/

Q: Will Physical Warfare Pack imbalance the game?
A: The three exclusive items in the Physical Warfare Pack were specifically chosen not to be overpowered or imbalance or break the game in any way.

Q: Why do I want the Physical Warfare Pack?
A: Owning these items will give you a more varied arsenal, but it will not give you a significant advantage on the battlefield.

It's exactly the same thing they did with BC2 and the Thompson and M1 Garand. There really wasn't. Mass complaining then and the guns ended up being subpar compared to the other unlockables available. I already preordered this since doing so only cost me $5 and that was before this announcement.

In the end they will probably offer the preorder guns in a DLC pack anyway, the preorder bonuses are likely just an early jump on something that will eventually be available to all.

I think you've got it wrong, I wasn't actually complaining about the pre-order bonus, though I don't like that either, but instead about the fact that he tried to justify it by saying that's how real war works.

Also, Battlefield is not even close to a military-sim.

I'm glad I'm quitting FPS for awhile, DNF will be the last one I purchase for at LEAST a year or two.

Like it's ANY different when BC2 came out and pre-order players got early access to the AK-74u (the best main gun for the engineer)

Don't really understand. Are these weapons available to everyone at some point, just that the preorder unlocks them from the beginning, or are the weapons ONLY available to people that preorder?

If these guns are unlockable through normal progression by other people, then I don't give a shit. Otherwise, that is extremely annoying.

i wish people will stop bitching about this, its not that big of a deal.

"oh no because i didnt preorder i didnt get a weapon that id have to unlock anyway and will probably get eventually!!! WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!"

besides, its just a few weapons, if you want them THAT bad then preorder it. if it makes you not want the game all together, then you probably didnt want them that bad in the first place.

its like a 3 year old who wants the other kids toy because he doesn't have it himself.

I really don't see the fuss.

Speaking of the UK market, the two versions of the game are exactly the same price so if anyone in my establishment is complaining they need a reality adjustment.

Even if this wasn't the case - guns don't make the player. At the very core of things the guns may have a slight advantage - but that boils away in the hands of the individuals.

Additionally, how quick do people tear through the beginning levels in MP (classic "get you hooked" psychology)? I'm personally getting a little tired of tears being shed over such trivial concerns.

This is what you get:

and

This is what you will be facing:

Not the game changers people seem to be raging on. Hardly an edge given the team based nature of the game either. This is entitlement issues, nothing more.
