Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy: SHOVE THAT DECREPIT LOADING BAR UP YOUR NON EXISTENT ASS!
Persona 4: IT WAS THE F*CKING GAS STATION ATTENDANT?! WHY?!... AND WHATS UP WITH ALL THE YELLOW!
Final Fantasy XIII-I liked the game for it's battle system and story-:NO GAMEPLAY OUTSIDE OF BATTLES AND MENUS BESIDES WALKING!
...no longer angry but still nitpicks...
Shadow of the Colossus: Too many colossi look the same/share AI. Started the "real is brown" trend in graphics.
Sonic colors: Random and usually unfair difficulty spikes.
Portal 1&2: The meme obsession.(you know the ones)
Tales of Monkey Island: Dialogue said is NOT what I chose nor was it an option.
LOZ Twilight Princess: BLOOM!!!!!!!
Fable III: The unwarned 150 day skip to death by cosmic monstrosity.
ICO: I had the NA version... nuff said.
I'll be a woman, I guess... Urm... in Splatterhouse (360), I really would've like the final boss to actually be a boss fight instead of an incredibly short sem-quick time event. That was pretty lame.
Wish everyone I heard through audio diaries weren't already dead corpses (Diane, Marsha, and Anna Cullpepper) to name some. Here's hoping Infinite does better.
Yeah you are right kinda like a nuke just went off there. I guess aside from that, the only thing I found to get on me is the Little Sister's character design. I'm glad it was improved upon in Bioshock 2 but in the original there basically slugs with dresses.
In addition, all those main NPC characters I listed when I finally found their corpses they just looked exactly like normal splicers. I found that to be lazy.
God of War: Hades stage, Sex minigames and crate pushing puzzles.
Final Fantasy X: Sidequests are stupid.
Bioshock: Controls are awful and could be fixed with a "Change Layout" setting.
Are you talking about the stage inside the temple that's associate with Hades the God, or the stage that takes place inside Hades the place?
OT: Metal Gear Solid Series: Okay, I admit it. It's kinda silly. Resistance: Fall of Man: The multiplayer is kind of weak, and there's no explanation for who the 2nd player is in co-op. Resident Evil 1-3: You're right. The tank controls haven't aged very well. Gears of War 2: The multiplayer is pretty clunky unless you hold the A button down the entire time, and what they did to the shotgun was a little much.
Oh there are many games I love that are deemed all round crap. Firstly there was Digimon World, I liked that because it broke up the monotony of other creature based games I was playing as an 8 year old, however it had a difficulty curve like that of a triple looping rollercoaster. If you're ultimate digimon died that you had spent ages raising near the end of the game then congratz, you've gotta spend 5 years in game time to raise another one to have a chance of beating the final boss.
Another one I loved but is deemed nationally flawed, mirrors edge. I loved the visuals for one, if they turned down the bloom a tad bit and it would have been nice if the fights were never ever necessary, like there was a way to get out of it but required some epic platforming to get away from.
There's a whole plethora of games I loved that had oh so many flaws but what I liked about them is that they tried to do something new or were a fresh alternative compared to the rest of the genre.
I hated Lightning from final fantasy XIII. I liked most of the other characters,(Some of the time. Vang can be a bit of a psycho sometimes) but she just annoyed me. And she's the creator's darling, even though she has all the personality of a wet dishcloth.
Vagrant Story: The chain fighting system is really more of a gimmick and a way for the game to check you haven't fallen asleep then it is an innovative fighting system.
Its basically ddr meet final fantasy.
Also main character design is...well was gonna say crappy, but tis subjective. At the very least Sydney is a bland JRPG protagonist whose only distinguishing feature is that he is NOT a teen with spiky hair, just a man with silly hair instead.
"Backwards", then.
A game that uses L2 to fire and L1 to change weapons is contrary to every convention of console FPS. I eventually adapted to it, but not without the need to retrain myself. Again, a simple "change controller" option could do the trick.
If you mean the work of her voice actress, then I agree with you. As a character I found her not that bad and actually more likable than others. Speaking of bad voice acting: Ken (again, not the character himself).
Why do I end up as Naoto's friend, when I tell her that I don't mind if she's male or female? Maybe I just like her that much? Or maybe I'm less than 100% heterosexual?
Persona 3 & 4: Tartarus and the TV world get really repetitive and boring when you stay there too long (and you more or less have to).
Bayonetta: The missile and bike riding missions. Also, quick time events in cutscenes.
Odin Sphere: Most of the difficulty stems from the absolutely gorgeous animations that you can't interrupt. Can't you eat a bit faster when pesky mages shoot swords at you?
Mass Effect, Dragon Age (and many, many other RPGs): Too many similar items. I don't want to update the equipment of every party member every ten minutes, especially when it's all pretty much the same anyway.
Tales of Vesperia: How about no release for the apparently far superior PS3 version outside of Japan?
Resident Evil 4: So many quick time events.
Star Fox 64: The hard levels late in the game consist pretty much of barrel-rolling and charge-shooting all the time. ALL THE TIME.
New Destroyman on Hard and the final boss. Also, the camera.
Still can't think of anything for Demon's Souls. Maybe something with the world and soul tendencies.
That's actually more interesting and fun than talking about the things I love about those games.
EDIT: The 3rd Birthday: The lock-on is not reliable enough (that is, walk too far in one direction and you can't see the enemy anymore). And the DNA-leveling system is, while innovative and clever, really frustrating at higher levels. "The result is worse than before, repeat, worse, repeat, etc."
Fallout:New Vegas - Goddamn loading screens. There were a couple of sidequests around NV where I spent longer looking at loading screens than actually doing the damn quest
Mass Effect 2 - Getting disconnected from XBL kicked me back to the main menu on several occasions despite it being a single-player offline only game
