Played the game.

It's actually impressive. Sure, it's meant to be a parody, but if Bulletstorm was just taking the piss using their game to show off a Call of Duty parody I'm actually excited for for Bulletstorm. I haven't played a game with that flow outside of Call of Duty, and the game looks fun.

I saw a video of this earlier today, but I didn't know it was an actual game. Downloading it now.

Bulletstorm, though... As nice as it is to see a shooter break off from the brown, "realistic" military theme, Bulletstorm just doesn't seem very good, and virtually every aspect of it seems geared towards the douchebag demographic.
Ehhh... That's like saying that Duke Nukem is geared towards the douche demographic. Both games are distinguished by being ridiculously over-the-top in every conceivable way: awesome kill moves, profuse profanity, and maybe even juvenile-fantasy-style sex. These games are like mind-candy to contrast with more thoughtful productions, such as Bioshock or Civilization 5.

Is this what they spent their time on instead of a PC demo?
I was thinking a similar thing: that's great that their developers spent their time making Duty Calls, but they could have spent that time polishing up the real game, y'know, the one that's actually going to be reviewed and sold?
lol dont get mad, this probably took Epic about 15 minutes to make.

OT: Calm before the storm? I see what you did there, Epic!

Duke Nukem is your typical bad-ass action hero. He says funny one liners, he has lots of sex and he shoots aliens. The main character of Bulletstorm spends the majority of his time being extremely annoying and shouting the kind of insults you'd expect from a twelve year old.

Agreed. This game looks more like one of those "Not Another Teen Movie" or "Superhero Movie". Those movies are intended to be a parody and make fun of all the cliched movie genres, but in reality, these movies are so cliche themselves and down right terrible. There's ways to do things right aka Duke Nukem and ways that make you less then the source aka Bulletstorm.

This is fantastic. This is exactly what I say COD is like to anyone who adores the franchise and they just look at me like I'm mad. Good to know there are sane people in the universe, though we must be the very silent minority.

The leader enemy guy sounds like someone doing a bad impresion of the heavy weapons guy, and the guy you play as sounds like John Freeman from Half Life: Full Life Consequenses.

I think Duty Calls has some real potential. With a touch more subtlety, and (naturally) a few hours added to the length, it could be every glorious Troperrific thing Matt Hazard was supposed to have been.

Also, RE: the immaturity thing: Did people complain that Unreal Tournament was sophomoric and prurient? Because from what I've seen, Bulletstorm is just the natural evolution of UT.

Can't wait for this game, big stupid and silly is how I like my shooters.
Here here! I want boss battles, crazy as the warp guns, and more importantly NON-HUMAN ENEMIES! because guys with different guns are still guys. CoD, two enemies types in the whole single player not enough, especially when one of them is a quick time event *cough dogs cough*.

If Bulletstorm spent less time making shit like this, and more time trying to make itself a good game, I'd probably buy it.

Bulletstorm's lasting appeal aside, I loved the Duty Calls parody. Just nailed it. The only thing they forgot to parody was the ironsights, and the inability to hit anything without them

Sort of, though combos were never part of UT. I just wish Epic would get this Gears of War lumbering crap out of it's system and deliver another UT2004

It would be awesome if I could play it on my Macbook Pro...

Well that and if it was better than Bulletstorm, itself, because the demo... was boring and I quit due to boredom after my 10th kill. I never quit a game that fast ever before.
