Ah well, I'm sure WoW players are over the moon, and good for them. Now can we have another MMORPG? PLEASE?
I see you when we're both 60. We'll start making bets then.
I say it ends in the year 2095.
It always amazes me just how much World of Warcraft has negatively affected gamers. From the sheer ammount of hate it gets bleated in it's direction, you'd think that it'd killed people's families instead of just being a good game.Simalacrum said:...we'll never be free of WoW, will we?John Funk said:Nope, sorry. Right now they are actually start to run out of villians ;p Still, I liked about them the fact that a lot of them were tragic characters, not just plain evil guys. It's good to see a bit of drama in the computer game.oppp7 said:Finally! I've been waiting for that guy to die since he killed (I thought) Illidan.
I'm actually surprised about all of this, not just Arthas dying, but that blue dragon leader, the elder gods, Lady Vashj, and Illidan. Back when I first started reading about the canon on the WoWWiki (I don't have WoW), I thought they never, ever killed anything off. They said they brought back Muridan, the 3 dwarven races, and several other races and characters that they previously said died. For this reason I stopped caring about the entire canon. But once I reread it and saw that they had actually made progress, I got interested. Still no extinctions though, but that's a great deal bigger.
Nah, Frostmourne just took Arthas' soul and turned him into the Death Knight - the Lich King was bound to the armor that was up in the Frozen Throne. Arthas only became the Lich King once he put the helmet on at the end of WC3:TFT.Wolfram01 said:Wow. Lame.
Also, I thought it was the sword, Frostmourn, that basically turned Arthas into the Lich King... not that helmet. Shouldn't that fire guy have picked up the sword to become the Lich King?
Oh ok. I didn't get that far in WC3 lol. I bought the battlechest leading up to WoW release with the intent to get a grip on the whole story, but yea, didn't happen...John Funk said:Nah, Frostmourne just took Arthas' soul and turned him into the Death Knight - the Lich King was bound to the armor that was up in the Frozen Throne. They still have Deathwing, but they'll probably kill him in Cataclysm (which sucks, because he was one of my favorite characters in the second one). Also, Sargeras, Kiljaedan (maybe?), a bunch of Elder Gods, and probably a few small people I forgot about.cieply said:Right now they are actually start to run out of villians ;p Still, I liked about them the fact that a lot of them were tragic characters, not just plain evil guys. Guild Wars 2 is soon to be here.Furburt said:Great, will this become my generations equivalent of the Normandy landings then?

Kil'Jaeden's not dead, we just kicked him back through the portal, so he's still on the table. Also Queen Azshara. Plus they can just make up new characters.oppp7 said:They still have Deathwing, but they'll probably kill him in Cataclysm (which sucks, because he was one of my favorite characters in the second one). And ya, I always thought that the Warcraft characters were deeper than people gave them credit for. Who was that character that people keep saying Arthas is a ripoff of?
Well, the fact that you dont know WoW lore is a given that you probably arent right, because Fordragon (who was a palidan and regent king of stormwind for a while) was kept alive by the red dragonflight's (the dragonflight of life) flame and his devoutness for the light. Tirion gave him the crown because Fordragon is a very good guy, and since the lich king represents death but fordragon is life, then the struggle for dominance of the true lich king could go on until the end of time.Jimmy_shredshot said:I might not know anything about the lore in Warcraft, but I can see giving a crown to a guy with flaming eyes as being a very problematic solution...
