I hate watching Blizzard butcher their story for the sole purpose of ushering Cataclysm. Ner'zhul would never accept another host; he chose Arthas before Arthas was even born. Also, Tirion knows that the only thing keeping the Scourge from killing everything is ARTHAS!
It makes no sense to cut the leash of a rabid dog, so why take away the one thing that restrains Ner'zhul?
Because as of Rise of the Lich King, Arthas had pretty much eradicated the consciousness of Ner'zhul?

Besides, if Arthas - whose soul was already corrupted by Frostmourne - could hold back the Scourge, then what wouldn't a fully-conscious Paladin be able to do the same thing?

I knew it would be Bolvar. But what I think is you know when you walk into ICC and Tirion and Arthas are talking, and Bolvar is all like "Never...I will never serve you!"? I think that the Lich King already broke him, and knowing that Tirion would be there for Arthas' death, waited so he could ninja the helm. So therefore, Bolvar is evil and will be as bad as Arthas?

IT'S ALL A CONSPIRACY I SAY!

Arthas noooooooooooooooooo! I'll miss that badass paladin and his righteous hammer/blade. Seriously I don't think I've been this sad about a video game since Solid Snake becoming senile in MGS4

Also, Blizzard ruined the lore. There DOES NOT NEED to be a Lich King.
Actually, there does, otherwise the Scourge will be more of a threat than they already are.

EDIT:

Well, actually I spose so, if you like Scourge raping things.

Awww, that is so underwhelming. I mean, all the build up throughout the Warcraft games, all the lead up within World of Warcraft and it is just-
Oh hey Arthas, you're dead. All those undead? Yeah, we'll just get a new Lich King. Nothing will change. Sylvanas doesn't even make an appearance. As I use to be a Horde player (Stopped playing about four months ago) I don't even know who that dude is. The Lich King wasn't even in it! I mean, the armour that he possesses is, but he doesn't have a say. Very disappointing in my opinion.

Wow. Lame. The video with the dragons, the Horde and Alliance, all fighting against the Lich at the gates after doing that epic quest chain was way better... I've already forgot the location name as it's been a year since I quit WoW.

Also, I thought it was the sword, Frostmourne, that basically turned Arthas into the Lich King... not that helmet. Shouldn't that fire guy have picked up the sword to become the Lich King?
Well Frostmourne is just a sword used to absorb, bind then scar souls while also serving as an outlet and enhancement of power. While it was used to corrupt Arthas and bring him into merging with Ner'zhul (the acutal Lich King). It's actually the helmet that contains the power and essence of the Lich King.

No idea what was going on, except for Arthas dying and his father coming back in a spirit form to see him. Who is the other two guys? What the hell is going on, Blizzard?

Tirion Fordring is the one standing around(the paladin guy who led the Argent offensive against Arthas)

Other guy was Bolvar Fordragon, one of the greatest heros of the Alliance (was thought to be dead after the assault of the Wrathgate)

WoW will never be the same.

I hope they make real expansions again, not this half assed "five level increase" cataclysm mini-expansion bullshit. It better not mean there will be no 10 level expansions again

EDIT:

This was like the biggest moment in WoW history, couldn't they have made a beautiful video like the WotLK trailer? They were fine with putting that file in our directories, so it shouldn't be a memory size thing.
Speak for youself anyone unhappy win cataclysm clearly doesn't understand how huge of an expansion it is.

Also if it was me I would prefer a 0level increase expac. I hate leveling
I am unhappy about changing the Azeroth we know and love, I am unhappy with them recycling old dungeons as new heroic content, and I am unhappy with the 5 level increase.

Come on, you can't possibly argue that it is as big as the last two expansions

im not arguing that its as big.

im saying its A LOT BIGGER.

think about it, a whole new guild system, guild talents, new professions, character specializations, and a big re-do of level 1-60 and new level 80-85.

thats a lot more content than the 10 new levels u got in BC AND WoTLK. and on top of that WoTLK was pretty lackluster anyway, i really disliked this expac, BC was better, but it wont be better than cataclysm.

Blizzard pulled that out of their ass for WotLK. In reality, the scourge would be no threat at all and controlled only by minor liches.
Exactly? Lack of a master controller for a huge ass horde of undead from the tiniest of skeleton to massive bone dragons and giant constructs of plague isn't exactly conducive to them sitting still and not doing anything.

In fact it's kind of the opposite.

Horde players got to watch Wrathgate too. If you read the quest text along the way to 80 and did all the quests you'd know who both of them were.

No, I think it was a Shakespeare character, Macbeth perhaps.
But him and Kerrigan are very different. Arthas became a mindless slave who wanted to free his master while Kerrigan started manipulating people to take revenge on those that caused her to become infected.
Read Rise of the Lich King.

Who was that character that people keep saying Arthas is a ripoff of?
Elric of Melnibone? Who is a brooding albino prince wielding a soul-stealing sword called the Stormbringer.

I don't know, could be totally coincidental similarities! :D

Wait wait wait.

Let me get this straight:

World of Warcraft has a plot?
You think it enslaves millions of souls on its GAMEPLAY!?

Aahahahaha. Awww you're so cute *pat head*
No, anyway...

Decent ending. Shame Arthas had to bite it but...
Bolvar's
an interesting replacement since he's got nothing better to be doing either than sit in Stormwind with King Varian being a useless quest giver... or this.

...Yeah I like this better.

Great, will this become my generations equivalent of the Normandy landings then?

Ah well, I'm sure WoW players are over the moon, and good for them. Now can we have another MMORPG? PLEASE?
Second, something with less elves. Maybe Star Trek online will kick off and I'll be on the right side of the ridicule fence for once.

I remember listening to two of my friends who play WoW rabbiting on about the plotline and just switched off completely. But whatever gets people going.

Wait, Wait, Wait, Wait now im totally confused i think the WoW makers just totally fucked with the lore, wasn't it the sword (Frostmourne or something) that corrupted the user not the crown?

Also, the lich king was originally a soul that made a bargain with a demon and that it needed a host in which it chose Arthas not Arthas himself. (I have read the Warcraft 3 lore 1000 times over and i am certain of this)

Nope, sorry. Cataclysm, bro. :)
Wrong, John.
There is always The Old Republic. And Champions Online.

I watched this yesterday and I was happy I did watch it, because I am not 'hardcore' enough to raid. I tried it and it pissed me off that if you can't have any fun with raiding, so I'm glad I could see this in Really high quality and not playing the game to see it.
