Bethesda "Disappointed" There's No PS3 Skyrim DLC Yet

PS3 owner here, the game is actually no bad for the first 2-30 hours, then all kinds of odd things start happening. The PS3 release was an unfinished mess but people paid the same price for admission as everyone else. I don't think Bethesda actually cares, but then what company will openly crap on a user base, that's just not good business. Oddly, most of what I read about the game from those of us with enough issues is often that we would rather at least have the damned thing working properly, let the DLC come later. One typically doesn't concern oneself with adding a new room to a house before putting out the house fire, after all.

2 months ago I was super pumped for dawnguard. I made a few new characters and was ready to spend $20. Now I have lost all interest in skyrim, good job bethesda.

This is one of the reasons for why you don't show favourites when it comes to platform DLC. They should have held back the Xbox 360 and PC versions and released them all at the same time.

Not just to avoid pissing off certain sections of the consumer base, but also to make sure the quality is up to an acceptable standard. As the Xbox version of DawnGuard is incredibly buggy, with any luck the PS3 owners will get to play it without all the little issues, which might make it worth the wait.
the problem is if you uber polish a piece of dlc while you develop it for all the platforms you'll be waiting another year and everyone will have moved on to other games and not buy said dlc making it not economically viable

it's just hard for a company ( especially if it's name is Bethesda :D )to multitask and keep up quality
plus, dawn-guard is buggy period nothing to do with the platform i had to get that console out more than once because the ai pathing / script was just broken
i literally had to carry two of the main npc's through an entire escort sequence using console commands and recover saves because a certain vampire would attack me when he was not supposed to attack me

I got a question.

Why do you idiots keep buying Bethesda games off a PS3? Sometimes I feel like the only logical person here where I just buy the 360 version or PC for modding sake.

It's obvious Bethesda has difficulties making PS3 ports. Hell Its been obvious since the PS3 version of Oblivion. Yet you continue to buy it and Fallout 3 and Skyrim, and yet your still sitting raging and crying at your keyboards.

You get a Bethesda game for either Xbox 360 or PC. It's that simple. Otherwise, it's your own fault for being idiots once again on buying something from a company that obviously have trouble porting a game on. Just ask From Software on how their PC port of Dark Souls went.
Yes, because PS3 gamers are the ones at fault. My reasoning for buying Bethesda games on PS3? My PC is crappy, my 360 is shitty. I'd rather get the game then not. And what about the people who have shitty PCs or don't have 360s at all?

You seriously cannot argue in defense of Bethesda here, they should've worked out by now how to do this on PS3.

At least From have an excuse of being totally inexperianced with PCs. Bethesda doesn't have that. Bethesda are being downright lazy. That's not even me raging, I don't even care about getting DLC for Skyrim. I don't even play the game anymore.

If anyone's an idiot here it's you.

I played Skyrim on PS3. I loved it, it was fun, immersive, and incredibly open.
Then around hour 30 hit.
Now, I can't swim. At all. The moment the water line reaches halfway over my eyes on the screen, the game crashes. Occasional doors will cause crashes. Load times are upwards of 5 minutes going into a house.
I'm not going to buy any DLC for Skyrim PS3. I will get it on PC when a full edition comes out. They can say they'll working on fixing it, but it's been 9 months since the release.
I expected it to be buggy, but not unplayable. I got the 150 collectors edition the day it was announced. A crash here or there I'm fine with. 5-10 minute load times (sometimes infinite as the game will load forever, or will crash before it even starts) make me annoyed, as does being unable to play the game.

Stopped caring long ago.

Never wanted the DLC anyway. Skyrim never hooked me the way their other games did.

It's really hard to have a good conversation about this.

1) 360 fanboys arguement that a console that is over a half decade old can't be coded on, while every major publisher outside of bethesda seems to find ways to get dlc out the same day over multiple platforms.

2) it's hard to find pete hines story and excuses legit while he has xbox360 plastered across his chest on his twitter account picture.

It'll be like fallout 3, the last big one bethesda did. All dlc to 360 first long before it comes out for ps3. The sad thing is, for all the rage, dawnguard wasn't worth $20, and not worth the energy put into the debate. If Bethesda doesn't want your money, find a publisher that does.
You sir have hit the nail right on the head. Couldn't say it any better then myself. It's just sad that they just don't seem to care.

PS3 players can have Ubisoft. Let us PC players keep Bethesda. =)
It's not about PC v PS3 v 360. It's about a company delivering on the content they have said they would deliver. Just because it's PS3 owners getting shafted this time doesn't mean that it won't be PC gamers of 360 owners next.

I never claimed that it was about some stupid sense of competition. I simply said that PC gamers are getting the shit end from most of the publishers these days because of piracy. If one or two of them (cdprojekt...yaay) still wants to favor the PC as a platform, then good for them. PS3 gamers are really the last people that should be complaining about favoritism. Xbox gamers have to pay for XBL and PC gamers have to deal with shitty DRM.

Also, I'm gathering from most of the posts here and other places that PS3 gamers don't play Skyrim, don't like it, and didn't intend on purchasing the DLC anyways because of bugs or something. So why does it matter? Or is that just the, "fine, I didn't want it any ways" sulkiness?

I keep seeing this "PS3 dev kit and architecture is more difficult to work with and optimize for, but it begs the question(s):

Why didn't Sucker Punch have any issues with Infamous 1/2?
Or Quantic Dream with Heavy Rain?
Or From Software (A much smaller team) with Demon's/Dark Souls?
Or Killzone 2/3 with Guerrila Games?
Or Resistance/Ratchet & Clank with Insomniac?

I could go on for a long time with that, but I'm sure the point has been made. I play Skyrim on PC (thank god) so this isn't an issue for me, but maybe Bethesda can make a couple calls to these studios and ask what the hell they aren't doing or ought to be doing.

What kind of anwser is that? You're talking your own game. You should at least have a concise explanation of why it hasn't been released yet.

Oh I don't know, maybe they don't have a 360 or a computer powerful enough to run Skyrim, but they still want to play it?

Not everyone has both consoles and a state-of-the-art PC, you know.

I'm really angry at everyone saying, "well, you should have bought it for the PC or the Xbox."

I paid good money for this console, and I want to bloody use it. I don't think it's fair for them to be treating me terribly for spending the same amount of money on a different machine, and I don't think it's fair that people like to step on those that don't have the same console and privileges as themselves.

It doesn't matter what I'm playing, as long as I'm actually getting to play things. So to everyone saying, "you should know better to not play it on the PS3, go buy it for something else, idiot!" - screw you. That's not being sympathetic, you're just being arrogant. Go play your precious Dawnguard.

I'm not angry at Bethesda, just disappointed and impatient. But I am angry at fanboys who like to take every opportunity to let down other people.

i place blame squarely on microsoft for blatant bribery. there is no reason for timed exclusivity, if you are worried more people will buy it on other consoles because yours is shit, then try an make your product less shitty.

Maybe I'm just being naive, but I like to think they're trying to make sure we avoid the various game-breaking issues that plagued the original release.
They are. It's just that some people are too pig headed to see it. If they were given Dawnguard right this second, they would ***** on how glitchy it may be. Goes to show how you can't please everyone.

I'm pretty sure that all of those games are exclusives for PS3 (except Demon's/Dark souls) so of course they would know how to use the kit and they have a whole team at its attention (unlike multi-platform games which divides people according to console). Also, each game uses a different engine than the Reality engine of Skyrim. Maybe there is a problem with porting the engine to PS3? Maybe Bethesda is flat out bad at porting to that console? Who knows?

At first, I was a little saddened when the PS3 players couldn't play Dawnguard like me and the rest of the Xbox customers. Everyone should have gotten it at the same time. Now, I'm sick and tired of their constant bitching and "I'll never buy a game from you ever again" shit.

I'm just tired of waiting now. Bethesda can go fuck themselves with how long the PS3 DLC's take. I sat through this bullshit with Fallout 3, and when that arrived it broke the damn game until a patch that took 6 months to appear.

My point was that if there's so many companies who can work with the PS3 exclusively for a living, that it just can't be a viable excuse to say that it's hard to work on. I think this is one of two issues, or possibly both:

1. The Reality engine just doesn't play nice with the PS3, was built on the PC and is easily ported to 360, and trying to have a Skyrim experience that's equal on all three platforms is next to impossible. I would think that there would be some foresight though, that they would want the game on all 3 during the building phase of the engine.

2. This is a Microsoft under the table money thing. The exclusive launching of Dawnguard on the 360 was translucent paying for exclusivity, and with Microsoft owning and running Windows they don't see the PC as much of a competition as the PS3. This is kinda the tinfoil hat option, but they could play together. It might be a "the engine we built wasn't with the PS3 in mind, it's really hard to make it work on the PS3, and with the Microsoft and 360 love we get we're not going to exactly put a large chunk of the team on making it work, Microsoft might not like that." That would be terrible, but who the hell knows.
