This seems like pretty awesome news.

I wonder how much ID had to do with this? They are experts at greating graphics engines afterall.

Has the setting for the next elder scrolls been revealed? Where will the game take place?
The game will take place in Skyrim, the homeland of the Nords.

Which is why it's called TES:V Skyrim.

YESSS!!! That's pretty much the only thing I was really worried about with TES V (well, that and the possible inclusion of QTEs to fight the dragons). Now I can wait in peace.

Also, I want screenshots. Now!

Bethesda has made a new engine for every elder scrolls game so far, I think that's part of the reason they've taken so long between Oblivion and Skyrim.

Let's just hope they finish early and have time to debug the damn thing before the 11.11.11 release date.

This means that the game could be less buggy than Oblivion, or more laggy because it's new. I don't care, I am really looking forward to this game.

Good news for a change. GameBryo could be a truly buggy piece of shit when it wasn't being run on its native platform.

And I really hope that the main marketing point here isn't going to be the graphics, otherwise, I might as well take my business elsewhere, because I really don't want to play Oblivion yet again.

Yay! I didn't mind the old engine too much (but Oblivion feels horribly dated now), but it definitely needs a replacement by now.

And there best be an SDK, or someone's getting a visit from the goons.

Well the oblivion engine is notriously the "copy-paste", stupidity scaling difficulty for added length engine so. Randomized-copy paste does not a good rpg make imo, but ppl are all the rage for open world sandbox games now. :( /ik r sad. I'd rather play wow then oblivion as they are almost the same game, just more to do in wow and you can play with friends. Without the crap dialouge system of tediousness ofc.

Also the only game i've seen where you are punished for leveling (ramped up difficulty)

So a linear solid system like elder scrolls 3? Doubt it...

Screw consoles, will it let me flex my graphics card or will I have no problem running another AAA game on max?

No, it's been the same engine since Morrowind, just tweaked. I'm pretty sure the timespan was due to the huge world they had to build, and not due to all of those pesty recordings the voice actors had to do...

How pretty is it going to be? Because Oblivion was one of the prettiest games when it came out.

I predict uber-pretty.

This engine is probably going to be even buggier!

Seeing as they've had time to adjust to the Gamebryo engine at this point.
the Gamebryo engine was years ahead in terms of visuals and was so for many years, hell, download the hi-res texture package and a few mods and you can upgrade the visuals of oblivion up to current-gen levels.
