Bethesda Has "No Timeline" for Dawnguard on PC and PS3

Okay, this is Bethesda we're talking about so I doubt it as anything to do with bugs. On launch pretty much on all platforms (from what I've heard from people playing it on Xbox and PC) it was a mess. So the only other explanation is that they don't want my money. *Scratches head* That doesn't sound like the best business plan, but what the hey, I've got other games to play.

Considering they said they would be releasing the dlc on PC it pretty rubbish if they don't. If they weren't going to they should have said so people could make a better informed decision over which platform to buy it on.

So bethesda doesn't want my money? Well that's odd but its not my loss. I've started a new character in preparation for the DLC and they decide to give the middle finger instead.

Well funny thing is bethesda is that i've been holding out on the mods because I wanted to complete the vanilla experience before diving balls deep into the mod world for the simple reason that I knew once I went to mods, anything you tried to sell would be sub par and I wanted to support you. Oh well guess its time to have some mod fun.

Probably the most disappointing thing in this article is they made us wait over a month to give us the middle finger. The least you could have done for your loyal fans Bethesda is not make us wait to get told we arn't getting crap.

Too many good developers are starting to fall out of graces with their fans in 2012.

WOah... WOAH. I'm pissed people, see my comment on the first page for proof.

But the guy only minced his words. It's not NOT coming out... he only said no mention of release has been made for other platforms (i.e that the 30 day window WAS NOT a release schedule). This is starting to be taken way out of proportion.

Be mad about the lack of transparency over this, by all means. But stop getting your knickers in a knot over nothing.

Lack of communication is as good of a reason to get your "knickers in a knot" as anything. They let us wait around for a month believing we would get the DLC after the xbox timed exclusive was done (as the majority normally do) and then said "what DLC?" Also didn't help that no valid reason was given so they end up looking smug like they don't care.

Good communication can help smooth sensitive issues and bad communication helps tidal waves form.

I have it for PS3 and this doesn't bother me for one simple reason, there is nothing for me in this DLC that interests me barring the Rune Axe.

I have never used nor will ever use horses, so I don't care about mounted combat or a new summonable horse. I don't care about vampire lords or new werewolf stuff as I hated the old ones. Crossbows? Potentially nice, but I'm already good with a bow and overwhelmingly prefer destruction even though it does crap damage after lv 35.

New spells for restoration and conjuration, I only use res for healing and to get some decent perks and I hate conjuration.

The new Dragon weapons would require me to actually allow dragons into my game and thats a big no no.

The other misc new gear is pretty underwhelming.

As for the actual new areas, NPCs, and plot...couldn't care less. And why would I pay $20 so I can have vampire hit squads randomly kill all my non essential NPCs?

So I'll be waiting for them to not only give a shit about the other half of their customers, but to put out DLC for a game that is going to be a year old in a few months that I actually want.

Some things that I would like preferably just patched in as long as they are not doing DLC for PS3:
>>> Cure Disease SPELL <<Redesigned magic perk trees

More spells/new effects/redesign existing ones. I want to be able to specialize in Destruction ONLY if I choose to and not end up using 2 or 3 spells for the entire game because they are all pretty much the same and do about 1/4th the damage even modestly smithed weapons can do. Basically I want to be as powerful as enemy mages at least -_-

I like that alteration gets all the useful stuff like candlelight, waterbreathing, transmute, and telekinesis. I just wish that destruction had more variation and utility if its going to be doing crap damage. Stun locking with zero cost incinerates over and over when one arrow would have done it or 2 swings of your weapon is crazy. Every other attack method gets perks that double the power of the attack. Destruction gets 50%. You can get 2.2x by double cast but when its still not as much as a sword swing, which can itself be further doubled with a powerattack which requires ONE stamina point vs. hundreds of magicka its pretty lame.

Not even mentioning the fact that weapons get up to 30x sneak bonus. Even bows get additional 3x AND the chance to stagger/paralyze with zero stamina or magicka cost. And then you add in the fortify enchantments and potions and its just crazy.

And no spell crafting.

Its like they went out of there way to gimp destruction and restoration by removing half the spells. I guess they just assume every mage will just use bound weapons and summon 2 creatures to play the game for them.

Illusion is the only tree that I think is perfect as is. I don't use it usually because its just too easy, but its funny.

I think the one saving grace in Skyrim's magic is that you can wear armor with no penalty, because since they removed enchantable shield spells and require the only decent spell to involve getting a dragon scale I prefer having more than a max AR of 350 (with Lord stone).

> More finishers for Axes and Maces/Stealth kill animations for them even if they just substitute an unarmed one.

I know a lot of people want spears, but I just don't know how well that would work. More options are always better though.

I essentially read this as "We don't have the skill to export/convert this DLC to other systems yet. Once we can without it reformatting your computer, then you will see it."

And as I said, rant and rave all you want... cause it's bullshit and they need to know that.

The crowd claiming Bethesda are making Dawnguard entirely exlusive for the 360, and promptly getting worked up over said imagining, are, quite literally, freaking out over nothing.

Though, with that said, if it wasn't for how they mishandled communication with the customers, we wouldn't have gotten to this point either.

Hmm... yeah, Forget I said anything. It's a bogus situation however you cut it.

Though I'm not all that hungry for it right now (I played far too much Skyrim the first few weeks XD), it still sucks that it's not out for the other alternatives yet.. We don't know all the reasons of course, and I hope there's a good one why we haven't gotten it yet.

Guess a quick trip to the Skyrim Nexus to hook myself up with some crossbows is next then!

so you give the middle finger to the ones that make you what you were?, fuck you microsoft ***** i hope you go bioware route and burn in hell
Yeah, because the open engine and free mod development platform and tools is a gigantic middle finger indeed. Try harder.

edit-- so that apparently says microsoft and not Bethesda. Kind of missed that. Oh well, I'll just leave this here anyways.

Wow, well that's disappointing. -100 points Bethesda. I hope you know that the PC crowd will likely hang you for this. I can't imagine the PS3 players are all that chuffed either...

If they have a reasonable explanation, I'm all ears, but it's going to have to be good to win people around.

Hey Bethesda! Would you like my money? No? Okay then, I'll go give it to Robot Entertainment so I can get Orcs Must Die 2 instead.
I thought I was the only one excited about that. Not long now

Well.. This is a bit disappointing.. Bethesda is one of the few companies that I really like and am a fan of these days. I guess I'm not too too caring about this, since i play on PC,i have mods and whatnot. Feel bad for the PS3 players though..

As long as this comes out polished and properly prepared, I won't care. If they want more time to fix things and prepare, more power to them. I'll give them all the time they want, as long as I get the product I deserve. I just hope they don't give up on the release all together. Dawnguard seems nice.

Hey Bethesda, do you know what these delays will lead to?
Less money.

I never bought ANY of the DLC for New Vegas because guess what?! I lost interest in the DLC and game after countless months of waiting for it.
same. If it's a game I bought at launch, like skyrim, by the time any dlc is out i'm bored. Generally the only time I have dlc is when I buy a game of the year edition our something similar.

Stalling a release, and especially with so little communication on Bethesdas part is not a clever move.
