Seriously, When was the last time someone was genuinely scared by something that occurred in say, Resident Evil? Honestly last one I can recall was dobermans through the window and excluding the most recent one Ive played all the "numbered" installments.
Personally I found the writing in the most recent Resident Evil games to be the stuff of nightmares...

On Topic: I kinda feel like this is a letdown. Those teasers where far more enigmatic than most, and finding out what it was all about seems somewhat anti-climactic.

In fact, there isn't any way to "misread" your post because IPs are directly what you are talking about, and completely in context for both your original post as well as mine.

How about instead of wasting time whining about how a little rough language is "awfully hostile" to your feelings, you actually take a second to answer the quoted post, hm?
I would have answered the quoted post, but you quoting me had nothing to do with what I actually wrote and I am not in the habit of arguing sides of someones misinterpretation because how am I expected to know how someone is going to misinterpret something?

Ill put it like this.

Mikami who? Why should I care in any way shape or form what Mikami says, thinks, does or has worked on in the past when I never referenced Mikami, was not discussing Mikami and made no mention of Capcom either? (Side note How many IPs does Mikami personally own? Zero? Then why exactly would you point to IPs, Reference Mikami, cite what he has available to work with and lock it into the confines of IPs he has worked on? WTF?)

But no, you are totally right. There is absolutely no possible way you could have misread what I said and supplanted your own issue/information in complete exchange of what I wrote. No possible way what so ever.

One other thing. On Hostility. I did not start this exchange by quoting something you said to tell you how you were wrong and do so with snide undertones. But if you are going to be hostile, own it. Dont try to pass your hostility off on the person you were being hostile towards.

That it? Reading the hype of the OP, I thought it would be far worse then it was. Reminds me of silent hill, and I can't ell if that is bad or not. On one hand, the trailer looks like it is stealing off that series so bad lawsuits may be pending, on the other horror games have been rare and even a retread of familiar tropes and themes can be done solidly and make a good game, so more power to them in that way.
I don't care for the Saw vibe nor the discordant noise and imagery juxaposed with something refined or soothing. Seems over done in a bad way and makes the project come off as a video game adaption of some of the recent gore porn horror movies trying to fake having class.

I guess I can grant that. That could easily be my own personal desensitization over genuine failings of the genre.

That wasn't even as scary as the opening credits to the first season of American Horror Story and it says nothing about the game

Minute long trailer.
People claiming that they dislike the game. Logic.

And no I'm not talking about people disliking the trailer, people are genuinly hating on the game and saying it sucks for a 1 minute 30 second live action trailer...

Personally I'll wait for game-play before commenting. But a AAA survival horror game has me fairly interested. Plus it's an origional IP, how can anyone be mad about that? We have had so many sequels lately it's silly.

Right, I'm calling it. The game is either a console exclusive or exclusively for consoles.

"Evil Within" eh? Must refer to the horde of bugs this game will invariably have...

So after all that bullshit with vines or whatever it's called, we don't even get a trailer made in engine.

Well that sucks.

Funny, I was right about something for once.

Also, I'm curious to see how this turns out, since a live action trailer really doesn't show off to much at all.

I know its unlikely but what I got from that trailer is the guy at the workbench is crating the monsters, and as far as I could tell the genre is not released so what if its some kind of monster creator game survival horror form the other side or a twisted inner psyche showdown as opposed to just run form these monsters normal survival horror and that is why all the monsters are more on the classical side.

Also, that does sound like a better name then the one they are using.

I found these links to more information on the game. I think they are legit. Hope people don't mind me posting them. :

This doesn't look like the kind of horror that the games industry needs. Less dead space, more amnesia
But it's absolutely necessary that before we know anything else about this horror game that we have a complete and accurate knowledge of everything that's in it and know exactly what monsters we are going to face. Horror isn't about building suspense against the unknown, facing the unexpected, or entering the unexplored;
It's about explaining clearly and openly what ugly thing is going to appear, and then having that ugly thing happen all over you in it's slimy bloody tentaclyness all in high definition static shots that you can get a reeeeaally good look at and take it all in, because red gooey stuff is the very definition of horror.

Why have we begun advertising videogames by doing absolutely everything except showing people footage of the actual game?
Now it'll just be really jarring when the actual gameplay footage comes out and the actual CGI characters look totally rubbery and fake next to their live action versions.

Yeah really dissapointed for the choice to go with a new IP when there is a perfectly good IP to work with that is absolutely dying to be explored. Oh well.
What IP are you talking about? Resident Evil? Because this is Bethesda we're talking about.

Aside from the music, it reminded me of this "band" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emrBZZtGFgI

Seriously though, the logo/title shot on the screenshots page reminds me of Cabin in the Woods, and the details about the story start off as, practically, a note by note rehash of the XBOX Call of Cthulhu game. I'll wait a while longer to see how this develops, but that is about the extent of my interest.

I've discovered that sometimes it is better to watch video lets plays of Survival Horror games. That way, you actually have a sense of tension since you can't effect the outcome (other then deciding not to keep watching, and saving yourself sixty dollars), and you don't have to contend with badly designed controls, which are usually the scariest parts anyway.
