I am going on on a lim here and saying that perahps the biggest reason why soldier was so popular was because other than assassin, every other class was unadulterated shit on insanity level. Biotics were as useless as tits on a bull..and they weren't as fun or as impressive as they were in ME1, where you could use them to take down a geth armature all by themselves..

I really do want to play ME2 (seems like an improved experience), but I still haven't finished the first
just can't seem to force myself to finish it...

All lived except Zaeed (don't care) and Mordin (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!).

As for the Illusive Man, I may as well have cut him a vagina and dumped a JCB digger's worth of sand into it.
i would give his service:

"he was the very model of a scientist salarian, he had studied species turian, asari, and batarian. he was quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology) because he was an expert (which he knew was a tautology. His xenoscience studies ranged from urban to agrarian; he was the very model of a scientist salarian"

That's unsurprising considering that the majority of gamers are male. Also considering that there is a strange reluctance to play as the opposing gender. I've never seen the issue, and I prefer FemShep; I have, however, seen a lot of people say things like "Why would I ever play as a girl," or "Guys who play as girls, want to be ones" Etc.

My response is, "How do you think girl-gamers feel about the plethora of male protagonists? Or how minorities see the lack of unstereotyped ethnically diverse characters?"

Id be surprised if there was a high percentage of people who didn't upgrade their ships at all...

That 50% of people upgraded fully is crazy! Thats many many man hours of pointless MINING!!!
I refused to mine for that long so I used some .ini mods and got all the resouces I needed pretty quickly, one reason I play PC instead of Xbox, if you dont like something...mod it!

I prefer Hale's voice acting. And I'm not saying that to be different. I truly do. It feels....weird playing male Shepard now. It's just not the same :-/

Fully upgraded the ship, lost that amazing Professor on my first finish. Second finish cost me Tali.

I just can't seem to get everyone out alive. I'm still working on that one.
Usually if you do all the people's loyalty missions and make them happy by doing so they'll survive. Also you might want to send specific people on tasks at the end. AKA throw legion in the pipe and send mordin back to the ship. Also use tali in the last mission, she might have the highest chance of dying otherwise.

Fully upgraded ship, always had Jack with me, played Vanguard female Shepard, and lost 1 person in the endgame, all first attempt.
Honestly, surprising statistics. Makes me concerned that ME3 is going to be designed against me.

Wasn't Shepard in the first game a male? (hasn't played Mass Effect).

If that's the case then I'm not surprised, if I played the first game I would've made him a male in the second game for the sake of continuity.
Nope. The option was also in the first game.

The pitch is you customize your hero, decide his/her past, and make his/her choices. If you completed the first game, you have the option of starting the second game with the same Shepard and the decisions you've made through him/her. It's a three part space-epic.

Also, play Mass Effect, because it's awesome. I'd say play Mass Effect 2, because it's a better game all 'round, but you won't have any patience for Mass Effect after you've played Mass Effect 2.

ME1 i played as the Soldier because i had no idea how any of the powers worked.

ME2 i only played characters with Biotic powers. Vanguard and Adept were the most fun! nothing like Bum rushing some1 thru walls and smashing them with a shotgun shell to the face, or Arching a Pull at a near 180 completely around a chest high wall, floating them into the air, then "force" pushing them into oblivion!

I refused to bring any of the dudes on non-story side missions. Only females on my away team!

and yes i played as the Male Shepard because romancing a dude isnt my cup of tea in a ROLE PLAYING game XD (although judging from what i hear the Female VA is far and above the better VA, so i might replay it thru just for that. I guess i can go for Garrus as my man crush since he was in the original crew!)

Hale's voice acting never ceased to amaze me in the first game, and I'd feel weird playing it any other way. I do hope she makes it into the third game, just for sexism's sake.

Yeah, I screwed over TIM, and my squad survived. However, my crew became a giant slushy because I wanted to bring Legion everywhere and see everyone's reactions. :-/
lol i tried to bring him onto the quarian ship just to see what would happen, but they wouldn't let me back on after i had finished tali's quest :(

"How did you do?"

I couldn't get pass the part where you have to battle some robots at the top of an elevator after rescuing that alien chick you can bonk in ME1.

I think it was a problem with mi pc, I've since dropped it until i can upgrade my rig.

Protip: Mordin on the escort. Tali on the pipe.
Odd, because I sent Grunt off on the escort mission, Jacob was taking on the boss with me and Tali, and nobody, not even Mordin, died. I even got the "everybody nods and smiles at Shepard while we fix the ship" ending.

Maybe it's because I upgraded everyone's tech in addition to the loyalty missions? Maybe I stumbled across some other winning roster? Maybe there's only a percentage chance of him dying and I was lucky? Maybe my game's got a very fortunate bug?

Because I'm thumbing through a few walkthroughs for the first time and, by all rights, the consensus says Mordin should have died.

Is it me, or is there too much testosterone in this article... as if the targeted public, is the one that plays Gears of War, God of War, something of War...

Well, on my first playthrough, Samera, Grunt and thane died, I boned Miranda, and everyone loved me. Made the Renegade choice at the end.

However, on the playthrough I'm taking into ME3, Tali(My love interest, Jack, and Zaed?, I think, It's been a while.(I know for a fact that Tali died(Because I sat in my chair for five minutes listening to angst rock afterwords) but the rest I'm not sure about),

I made the Paragon choice at the end, if memory serves me, guess I'll know when I play ME3

I can't see how the soldier is the most popular class. It's so....bland.
Bullet time sniper round to the exploding head of a robot.

Watch as the disruptor ammo tears up his insides while he explodes and blows up the corespondent mechs causing a chain reaction of awesomeness... in slow motion.

P.S: The solider gets access to the most weapons. The only thing he/she can't use are SMG's, and they only have one upgrade(which is DLC) and function similarly to the Assault Rifles

I absolutely decimated this game. Got through without a single crew member perishing. First playthrough I hit up Jack, and in my from ME1 playthrough, I stayed loyal to.. Shit.. I forget her name. The Asari from the first game, anyway. I think it was more heartfelt to see Shepard look at her photo, looking sad.

Ah yes. The Blessed .ini file.

I'd still be playing Bad company 2 all squashed up with a 55 fov... instead of a nice roomy 75.
