I guess Jacob has now rival in the (un)popularity contest.
I liked Jacob he was my favorite romance option for femshep mostly because I needed that hilariously cheesy porno ending to act as a quick moment of humor before the nightmare fuel that was to come or as my friend Chad might say "Jacob is my bro!"
The only reason Jacob didn't blend in with the hull of the Normandy was because he was black. I'll probably confuse this idiot for a doorjam four or five times.

Can we have the British guy from the trailer please.

It seems like people are quick to assume he's worthless. BUT, he may prove to be the most kick-ass crew member combat-wise, so try to keep an open mind.
Reminds me of when they first revealed Jack for ME2. My friends were all "she's so lame! I can't believe they made such a stupid goth girl for Mass Effect!"

Now? They're complaining that Vega isn't going to be anywhere near as awesome as Jack was (who, by the way, ended up being both of their romantic leads because she was "such a more interesting character than anyone else in the game."

Seriously, there just isn't any pleasing some people until they have the game in their hands. Next year I'm sure it'll be all "Vega was so cool!"

If there's one thing Bioware EXCELS at, it's making interesting, multi-layered characters. I'm more concerned about having the 10 billion variables tying together coherently. There is a TON of data for them to keep track of and account for. I don't know how Casey Hudson sleeps at night. He must have a team of cyborgs whose only job is to track every one of those variables and slap him on the wrist every time he tries to move the plot forward without taking all 10 bajillion of them into account. *shudders*

Really, I don't see what's wrong with the "hoo-rah" personality, so to speak. On two separate elite teams consisting of a total of seventeen (counting Shepard and DLC, not double counting Garrus and Tali) of the galaxy's greatest warriors, and there is not one example of a hoo-rah guy. This is like taking the world's top twenty McDonalds customers and not finding one overweight.
I totally agree with you. I'd love it if they pluck Jayne's personality from Firefly and slap it on Vega with extra superglue. There is an obscenely vast amount of potential comedy relief to be had with this guy being a completely vapid, shoot-things-is-the-answer-to-every-question kind of guy.

Imagine Shepard and the crew talking to some Asari diplomat, and Vega comes in with a space-beer and slaps her in the arse with his gun, which completely derails what Shepard was trying to accomplish. He could be the non-droid equivalent of HK-47.

Or heck, just put him next to Jacob the entire time. Mr. "By-the-book-boring-pants" would be an awesome foil to Vega as a boisterously naive meathead.

Any way you slice it, I have no problem if they give him extreeeeeeeeme irreverence (or some other equally-interesting route). I have faith.

Well, now we know what the stupid generic human character for Mass Effect 3 looks like.

Please please please let me sacrifice this guy for the benefit of the rest of the crew at some point in the story, preferably early in the story.

Otherwise he can hang out at the slop trough back near the bathrooms for the duration of the game. PIIIIIG pig pig piggy!

I can't wait to see this guy get in a punchout with Kaidan/Ashley. I can see it coming a mile away.

So in what way is he different from Grunt? You know, the other meathead who knows nothing but how to fight. Nobody complained about him.

That's not THAT musclebound. That's just what a man is supposed to look like. With reasonably good genetics, you don't even need steroids to look like that IRL.

THIS is musclebound

Well if nothing else he looks like a great candidate for someone I'd sacrifice over a character I actually care about.

No, that most certainly is NOT what a man is supposed to look like. It's disgusting.

Well Obsidian managed to make an un-intelligent, illiterate, physically strong, former elite soldier interesting.

So this guy may look like a boring character but he could be interesting.
You talking about Canderous?

Grunt was a Krogan. Being a dumb brute was a key aspect of his entire race, and we can accept that because he's not human. You don't complain about a baby crying and screaming on a crowded train, you would however complain about a grown man doing the same.
We hold humans to a higher standard, and guidos are an embarassment to our entire species.

This creature is something I will throw out the airlock first chance I get, no matter his personality. I just can't stand looking at him. His appearance practically oozes stupidity and homophobia.

If he does turn out to simply be a meathead, then all I have to say is that there is already Grunt, adding a human version seems a little redundant. However, we can't really infer this is the case.
