While I do love Bioware games, and this might make me bothered enough to play this ME3, there are two announcements I care about hearing from Bioware.

"Jade Empire 2 is confirmed" and "We have left EA"

I have to agree with this. Maybe some kind of threat to the Citadel that a Spectre is sent to investigate. And only the Citadel. Smaller scale, but still serious enough to warrant a game around.
Maybe the Yahg achieve space travel? they wouldn't be able to threaten the galaxy yet, but it would still be a problem

Translated into English (Cynical git, UK), "EA aren't done with making money off Mass Effect yet". I've gotta wonder why Bioware's founders retiring also coincides with DA3 and more ME been announced (Or as good as announced)...

Does anyone have any hard data on "Leviathan" sales? I'm curious as to whether these estimates that the finality of ME3 has affected enthusiasm for pre-ending DLC...

News just in: money still desirable.
In other news, Capcom releases a western RPG story based around the same theme, somehow makes more sense. How did it come to this.

I can already see how this is going to be. It's going to be an entire game based on who created the Citadel and the Catalyst. That's right everyone, they aren't just holding out small but crucial stuff for DLC anymore, now you have to buy whole other games just for small amounts of clarity.

That was mostly joking in terms of the angry gamer aspect, but I would like to see them make a game based on that time in the universe. It seems like an interesting enough concept, and considering this is "Mass Effect," it'd seem a bit wrong to try a whole game that wasn't, well, Massive. Though, I think they could pull off the smaller scale story, I just think that it'd be far more interesting to explore the origins of the reapers.

The main thing about the ME3's ending I really very very hated was how much final it was. I didn't think it was the worst ending of all time ever, but Mass Effect universe is utterly amazing. It's filled with pure greatness in my opinion. And they went on and seemingly killed the whole thing with the original ending.

When the first ever screens were published with the sniper guy you meet in London, I was giglingly exited because I thought they were going with a Spin-off or a sidequel if you will, buut that wasn't the case. Mass Effect universe can work great, tight, personal, not too complex stories and it would work wonders for people who are aware of the mithos of the franchise.

Of course I doubt such a game ever would come out cause its in EA's hands now. It's got to be SAVE THE UNIVERSE FROM THE ALIENS HUMANITY IS THE BEST AND SHIT.

and also when the Star Wars 1313's videos were published I saw lots of "No Jedi? Fuck that then!" kind of comments around and that attitude is probably why this kind of thing is never going to work with big publishers. And is very depressing.

I know this is you, EA. I know you're just hiding behind Bioware's name. Please, dont do this. Bioware still has juice in them, the Extended Cut proved that, but don't you dare misuse the strength they have left. Mass Effect is done. It's finished. The Reapers are gone. Apart from updating the multiplayer, an MMO set before the events of the main trilogy, and a base for some great fanfic, it has nothing left to offer. Don't you dare pull a George Lucas on it. Don't you dare use what's left of Bioware to milk this. Just leave Mass Effect be, and either let Bioware go, or mercy kill them now. Or you could just grow a brain, while pigs are breaking air speed records and Lucifer is ice skating his way to work.
I don't mean to be rude but who do you think you are? "Don't you dare"? Atrocious selfishness.

If you think you could do better then form a publishing company and buy the rights, or just stop demanding things like a little child.

Sorry about that. I admit, that was some pretty bad wording on my part. It's just... Mass Effect is one of my favourite franchises ever. The characters, the world, the gameplay, the music... Ok, it's got some niggles, but they're forgivable when the rest is so good. Bioware is one of the few bastions of good writing in the AAA industry, and even with all people saw in the ME trilogy, there's so much more to discover. I want to explore it more, to be enriched, to have a game with a plot beyond "humanity and america can beat all of the things" or "angsty guy angsts for 50 hours of cutscenes". I don't want to see one of the newest, greatest sci-fi universes turned into a cash cow for an ignorant, dying publisher. And I'm fairly confident in saying that I'm not alone in that.

yeah, they really cant go galaxy spanning stories anymore, though im cool with that. like star wars, they have a great universe to work with, oodles of opportunity, a million more stories to tell (not in a million different games though. that would be silly),

they could even go historical if they wanted. krogan rebellions game, morning war game, and im sure there are others i cant recall right now. the opportunities are endless!

cant wait to see where this goes. i love the universe, and i really want to see more of it. specifically the geth. they are the shit, the cats tits, the mother's milk, awesome, cool, sweet, and i am surprised i cannot think of any more positive adjectives or phrases.

the point is, the geth are cool and interesting. all of the races are really, but im partial to the geth. especially if you did the one thing in mass effect 3 at the one point which does that thing to the geth. that would be very interesting to see how they do after that.

yeah, the star wars fans seem to be too jedi-focused. i remember hearing the republic commando book series caught some flak for its lack of jedi. i mean, they were featured, and a couple main characters were them, but it was a story about the rest of the people, not the .002% of the galaxy which can throw shit with their mind.

on the other hand, one could argue she over-glorified the mandalorians, but that is not a discussion for today.

ANYWAY! i am fairly confident that it wont be so terrible EA trying to one-up mass effect 3 with bigger and grander stuff; because the fans of bioware are very VERY vocal about this kind of thing, and so many fear such a thing, and are sincere in their abandoning of games that EA does this kind of thing to, so one can hope with some confidence that bioware will be allowed to make some more focused stories.

oh dear god they are going to make the destruction ending canon, what with all the not mentioning of genocide post EC. or maybe the geth and edi had anti-magic cast on them by Irenicus and the spell travelled through time and space?
or the starchild ai, which Extended Cut revealed to be more than fallible, was either wrong in his understanding of the crucible, and it just effected reapers, or it was lying to try to push you towards control or synthesis, as its entire purpose is preservation (of life, in reaper form), so self preservation, or at least the preservation of the reapers, is very plausibly one of its prime goals, enough so to warrant lying to keep the reapers from getting blammed.

and if you think AI cant lie, remember this thing is over 100,000 years old, at the absolute least (prothean cycle, and the one before that), so it can develop some quips in the programming.

They're just talking about prequels ... nothing has changed at Bioware AFAICS. The writers are still in charge and running it into the ground.

This announcement is simply trying to divert EA's attention away from the millions worth of goodwill the writers destroyed (whether you think the ending is good or bad it doesn't leave much room for new games in the same setting, they destroyed it for sequels and unlike starwars they don't have millenia to work with for prequels either ... also only writers like prequels).

The ending of ME3 seemed rather final and at least drew the trilogy to a close for that story arc.

However, I don't like the idea of having another game because imo it will lose the original 'wow' factor of the universe that you spent so much time in previously. Sure there are more stories to tell, but the story we have played out is on such a massive scale that it encompassed everything and I don't think any story in the same universe will be able to top that (in a way similar to how Bioshock 2 seemed less appealing than the original Bioshock). Regardless, hope whatever they have in mind turns out good and its not just milking the franchise.

huh...a prequel of some kind? I can't see them doing anything else since the universe is royally fucked it seems (no I have not yet played the extended cut)

I have a feeling Mass Effect will go the way of starwars....

anyway, since ME is over I guess its "wait and see" for Bioware, I still think theres talent there even if it is suffocated by EA...makes me sad to see so many people/agrey/bitter over the whole thing but its somwhat understandable

if they do make a good game I find interesting I'll buy it,
