I'm disproving it right now. Acti-Blizzard does not have the rights to Halo nor is it even remotely imaginable that they could acquire said rights, and Bungie is working on their own project anyway since they don't have the Halo IP anymore.
You're not actually disproving it. Confidential IP licensing agreements have existed in the past that split a franchise; whilst we all find it highly unlikely that Activision-Blizzard have acquired rights specifically to an MMO it's in no way 'impossible'.

For a quick run down on some of the links, see this vid [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mM3n3Ve0OAs]
Microsoft has already teased the next Halo game.

The new game will focus on social features like guilds and friends lists, but also competitive PvP. "We really value the social experience of being able to play with your friends, make new friends in the game, and the whole guild experience.
And now I have faith again in the future of MMOs.

Um is the starcraft universe indicative of a social guild based environment?

please let it be a SC MMO please o please o please!!! >.<
they said previously that it was a whole new franchise. So its not going to be halo either lol.

Titan: Well, let me guess - It's based around one of Saturn's Moons and it's a Oregon Trail space adventure; or they're going to totally rip off Titan Quest.

Either way; they're gonna have to break some new ground if they want it to be anything like as popular as WoW, and I'll be amazed if they try that.

Bets on Titan being WoW in Space are now on.
That's kind of a disgustingly cynical generalization considering the only thing they're revealed to the public is a name and that it will be an online game (as many others have pointed out, MMO is not the same as MMORPG). "Titan" is frustratingly generic to begin with, considering it doesn't limit the genre or style in any discernible way. It could be a race (divine or mortal), a character's name, a machine, a city, a planet, a ship (space or sail), some sort of Macguffin, or even an in-game brand name of peanut butter.

In any case, I'm pretty sure we can expect Blizzard to deliver, especially if this is a potential delve into new IP. With Diablo III still in the works and Cataclysm/Starcraft II fresh off the presses, I think there's little else it could be without disrupting an existing brand, but even that's not certain. Besides, I'd be very interested to see Blizzard try something new for a change. Maybe they're trying to counter Valve's DOTA move by starting a new line of they're own? Who knows.

In the end, there's literally nothing we can determine about the game so far. I'd rather be cautiously optimistic than either extreme, especially since I've yet to be particularly disappointed by any Blizzard game.

As interesting as this might turn out to be, I'd like to see Blizzard keep working on their Single-player content too... StarCraft 2 campaigns and Diablo III are something I'm looking forward to, but I'd also love to see another WarCraft RTS/RPG sometime in the relatively near future.

And, of course, the revenue.

I'd just like it if they'd stray away from the whole competitive PvP, levelbound areas, that change once an expansion and for Blizzard to catch up to the fact that character customization is now accepted as standard. (apart from in their games)

Either this or a Starcraft-like MMO.

Forgive me, having seen Actiblizz's past "behaviour" in this field, you can perhaps see where my cynicism comes from.

I still stand by my bet though.

Titans are (*coughwerecough*) basically gods in Greek mythology too. Until they were given the good 'ol smackdown, that is.

edit - and now the word 'titan' is associated with a bajillion other things, too. Doesn't have to mean WoW. Could just mean that this project they're expecting to be the mother of all money makers. :)

I'll be surprised if it's not Universe Of Starcraft.

That said, this is Blizzard making it, so if it comes out before 2020 it'll be a minor miracle.
Then you will be surprise to find out that Blizzard already said it is based on new IP. In fact that is the first and only info we have now.

I actually heard that before, but I don't believe it, I think they're just trying to surprise us by derailing speculation in the obvious direction.

There's nothing in this article. The news is that they won't kill WoW when they release this, is that it? Well duh.
Anyway, I'm sure out great grandchildren will have a blast playing this.

That's just vague enough not to tell us anything really.

My wild speculation based solely on the name?

It will be based on Greek/Roman myths.

I say space-related, but I also say it's in the Warcraft universe and it is about the Titans.

Reckoning they will take the concept of Titans moving through space shaping worlds and build a game around that. The Titans that made Azeroth can't be the only ones.

Just when I'm about to play WoW they may release something else.
I don't get how the games are supposed to co-exist and "not steal each other's audience" if they're going back to the drawing board.
Are they re-doing the MMO social mechanics from scratch or a WoW like from scratch ??

Titan - sounds like something from Starcraft to my ears , like the Viking and Thor - so , as Extra Credits hinted in a early vid , is this World of Starcraft ? Will it be FPS or RPG ? (I'm just being annoying in this last phrase , sorry)

well, if you have ever seen Titan A.E.(straight to tape movie from around 2000) that universe would kiss arse to be a game done right.

And when i hear "titan" i think of Battlefield 2142, the giant floating ships you had to take down the other teams and the comamnder you voted for on your side controled where it went in the map, while regular battlefeild things ran on down below. Really fun. so any combination of these two

Imagine if they made a free-to-play game running off microtransactions, it might make so much money that Kotick chokes to death on it all and the world would be saved from Activision.
*Mind implosion*

I... don't think I'd mind that, but then again considering he owns Blizzard and likely some of the monumental profit from WoW already, that'd have to be a lot >:O...

I admit I'm fairly curious about this new MMO, if they are talking about it co-existing with WoW, then it's gotta be pretty different, different setting, different combat, different playstyle...

Titans were ancient greek pre-gods so can mean anything and nothing related to wow.
Er either you need to play WoW a bit more or go check around because the Pantheon and the Titans are mentioned by alot of the denizens of raids and dungeons like Uldum/Ulduar etc and are mentioned by the Stone and Iron dwarves lore as the "creators".

So many people tend to think that the 'God's' of WoW are the Titans who opposed the old gods like C'thun and Yogg'saron, basically evil big monsters with scary powers of the H.P. Lovecraft ilk.

This isn't just fan speculation Blizzard have pretty much said the big dudes are the Titans and the Old gods. I'm not saying they're related but the connection being made is understandable, I'm just going to wait for more info to come out.
