Bets on Titan being WoW in Space are now on.
^$$^

I lost most of my hope in blizz when it went to activision, they were fine and rich on their own, but they wanted to be richerer. And thats never good for the common man.
This is nonsense.

Blizzard isn't "owned" by "Activision", Activision-Blizzard is the publisher title, and Blizzard was previously owned by Vivendi games, which merged/bought Activision. In the end, Blizzard's under the same roof for the most part. Having a publisher provides resources to make the publisher money via game improvement. If they "creatively influenced" anything the games would suck, because the Acti-Blizz isn't there to design anything.

Heck you could find most of this jibberjabber on wikipedia.

No thanks Blizz.

I don't care how great Titan turns out to be, the online gaming community is just 99% filth and I'm not prepared to go there any more.

I'be been gaming for 30 years or so and the online "community", as games move more and more towards requiring online play, might well be the thing that makes me quit. I just loathe most of you and do not wish to socialise or spend any of my free time with you.
I was going to say something about this, but then observed the incredible amount of whining going on in this thread over a rather vague non-announcement and it reminds me why I usually have the mic off or on party chat whenever I'm playing over XBL. People, you all need to lighten up and chill out seriously. If you're miffed about Blizzard making more cash out of another MMO, then just don't play. After all, if it's not your money that's being spent, then whats the big deal?

Anyway, I'm betting Titan is actually an acronym and that it stands for Thrifty Industry Team Alienates Noobs. Possibly.

Who knows, they could do a new kind of MMO. As Daniel Floyd (Extra Credits) said, MMO =/= MMORPG. Who knows, this could be something like a MMOFPS or something o:
True true but that last thing I want is for Blizz to muscle in on that market with a pay to play MMOFPS. I am just so tired of WoW.

So they basically said a whole lot of nothing. I was hoping for something new about titan, i guess the fact that it WILL be a different game from WoW is SOMETHING. Not much though. I have some ideas about the problems that blizzard might address. Ones that are tied into core game play mechanics and WOULD need an entirely new game to be changed, i can only hope that Blizzard is thinking about the same ones I am though.

One thing that i suspect they'll change is the realm setup. Where you create a character in a certain realm and can never leave without paying 15$ and after that there are still more restrictions. It ultimately made it impossible to play with new friends because odds are that they're in a diff realm, in a good guild, and theres a 50/50 chance that they're the other faction and you'd have to do something even more drastic to play with them, or simply start a new character (and grind to 85 over the next few weeks).

oh yeah, i forgot the best part. This IS Blizzard we're talking about, the first ones to "Master" the game. If anyone is going to shake things up with something new, then i'm hopeful that Blizz can do it and do it right.

Titan is very common name in games... Also it is a codename and codenames are suppose to make no sense.
Then again, Blizzard said the new MMO is based on new IP, so it is not set in warcraft or Starcraft.

Ehhhhh I'm not that excited. I've been done with WoW for awhile. It was in it's prime during BC, when you needed crowd control for heroics. It was just all around more fun.
You now need crowd control for normal dungeons.

It is a codename. Also, Titan could mean a lot of things. Are you saying this new MMO could also be about an American football team?

OT: I don't like how it could coexist with WoW they should make it totally its own game, but Blizz is smart (and rich) so this could get interesting.
You realize what it means to co-exist right? Like exist together, that's kind of hard to do if you're competing with each other. In fact, unless you're equally matched, one will eventually force the other "bankrupt" (i really don't know what to call it if a company were to compete with it's self and "win").

If you're thinking co-exist as in the same game "universe" i think that is not what blizz is going for. There was so much nothing in this update that i doubt that by co-exist they were talking about the story at all.

Oh shit i forgot an important part! I think it's likely that this game will play significantly different from WoW. Because if it does, then both games can appeal to different audiences without fighting over a lot of the same people. I expect little overlap between the audiences of both games, Titan will possibly be more of an action game?

Well lets think about theis for a while.
A Sci Fi rpg - mmo
Well it would have elemtents of TF2 and WoW. Namely using their existing talent tree format.
I can only really think of two maybe three character types.
The Grunt, The Medic and maybe The Pilot.
Any thing outside of that is really just a talent specialization.
The Sniper,A grunt spec'd into aiming and stealth.
The Engineer, possibly a Pilot spec'd into building gadgets and machines. Again possibly covered by professions, but also talent thats allow you to use differnt machines.
The Heavy, again the Grunt spec'd into heavy weapons and armour.
But you see where im going here.
Infact i cant even think of any talent trees for the medic...
Anybody else got any thoughts along these lines, lets work this out. IF there was to be a sci fi rpg what could they do ?

Of course, I'm only guessing, but the line "The new game will focus on social features like guilds and friends lists, but also competitive PvP." does sound to me that they are going to make it somewhat casual.
The thing that I find funny is, they regretted putting arenas into WoW, and they hated having to balance all of the class skills/talents/professions around Pve AND PvP. My thinking is, this might be a PvP only MMORPG. That way, the WoW players can continue to kill dragons all day, and they can really try to steal the market with a "Halo/CoD/Gears of War" of MMOs.
They did not regret puting arena in the game. They said they regretted how they introduce the arena in he game. Big difference. Then people mis-quoted the thing. A blue post was even posted just to clear up the mess.

Only way they can co-exist ifs if it's a shared subscription. Which sounds like a damn good idea to me.

Will the new Blizzard MMO by based around HALO IP? More grist for the mill.
That's not legally possible. Bungie doesn't even own the Halo IP, and even if they did there's nothing pointing to them being in bed with each other to this extent.

Yea I read it as co-exist within the story. Woops my bad.

What? oh, haha, no offense taken from my end, no worries there. With the initial difficulty of Cataclysm I saw my fair share of whining and the old player base wondering what the big deal was so I'm pretty aware that I got spoiled with Wrath.

OT again: I would LOVE it to be steampunk, that would certainly be an original IP from Blizz. Anything fantasy of theirs will always be considered WoW/Diablo-ish and anything in space will be "Universe of Starcraft."
Yeah but with their "WoW" acronym it's probably going to be "System of StarCraft"

but due to being social most of your days will be spent kicking back in the barracks drinking beer watching TV or in my case shooting tv's (sc2 reference...)

this idea scares me, I wonder if they're going to charge monthly fees for this project too

I also wonder if anyone will be insane enough to subscribe and play BOTH regularly
Blizzard already said it is a new IP. So, no Starcraft.

Just stirring the pot ;).

Blizzard's Titan MMO being connected to a HALO MMO via Ensemble Studios is a rumour that's been going around the WoW-Sphere for a little while now, and HALO (or a game like HALO) would certainly fit a more PvP-centric MMO experience. It's fun conjecture that should be dispelled as soon as Titan is officially unveiled (probably at around Blizzcon 2013), but what would life be like without these little theories ;)

wait wait wait....coexist with WoW? so are they actually expecting people to pay for both MMOs at the same time?

i know some people certainly would, but that is really pushing it. sounds like an activision business plan if ever ive heard one.

I'm disproving it right now. Acti-Blizzard does not have the rights to Halo nor is it even remotely imaginable that they could acquire said rights, and Bungie is working on their own project anyway since they don't have the Halo IP anymore.
