You know what? I'm actually annoyed that they put Worgen into the game as a playable race who aren't on their own faction.
Hey Blizzard, what happened to the massive fuss you made about them being isolationists who don't want help and don't want to give help?
Furthermore, how did the Worgen curse get over the Greymane wall if
no one could come and go? Arugal started his work on the Worgen years after the Greymane wall was constructed and finished (which was just after the Second War) so he couldn't have had any influence in the events.
The fact that there's been no word from inside Gilneas would suggest that they're blocked to teleportation spells, before anyone says anything like that.
So...yeah, come on Blizzard, we've already had a lorelol with the Draenei and the Sargeras retconning
farce, what on earth are you playing at with the Worgen?
New racial classes? Meh. If I wanted to look like a human hunter I'd pick a night elf and do something not allowed by the Terms of Service. It's not as if anyone would notice me model changing my NElf to a human. New racial classes are not new content. I daresay this change probably took the least amount of time, switching a few 0's to 1's.
They're retooling some of the old fan favorite dungeons (Heroic Deadmines, Heroic Shadowfang Keep are mentioned)
This isn't new content either. Unless they dramatically change the way the boss fights work for Heroic mode, these instances are going to be so boring it's ridiculous (with the exception of the Arugal fight who is surprisingly complex for a low-20s boss). It's also a lorelol that I've just gone and slain Ragnaros, defeated C'thun, killed Illidan, forced Kil-fucking-Jaeden and his steaming hot coffee mug back through the Sunwell, bashed Kel'Thuzad's skull in
again, 'killed' Yogg-Saron and even broke the Lich King's power (yes, still to come, I know) and then I'm going to trot off to save Westfall from a bunch of bandits who barely know which end to hold their daggers.
Watch out guys! He'sa chargin' his fireball! My very presence kills the Defias. Exactly why am I, one of the strongest heroes to roam the land, reduced to a task like this? It's not half beneath me.
Supremely evil dragon Deathwing - remember him from Warcraft II? - is the Big Bad of this expansion, like Arthas is to WotLK. Everything looks pretty damn cool.
This is mildly surprising, as I thought for sure that it would be Queen Azshara. It looks like they plan to build on the Nexus War and Infinite Dragonflight lore from WotLK. Hope Cam Clarke gets another role to play because he was awesome as Malygos, Nexus Prince Shaffar, Medivh and...uh, every Blood Elf Male player character.
The Worgen (werewolf)-cursed humans of Gilneas are beset by the Forsaken and are approached by the Night Elves - remember the whole Scythe of Elune chain? Yeah - to join the Alliance.
Yeah. That's a terrible explanation. 1) Isolationist attitude anyone? 2) The Forsaken have bugger all numbers to their name. They were already one of the lowest population races (lorewise, not gameplay) and since the Royal Apothecary Society revolt which not only had some rebel and flee from Sylvanas' domain but also had a large number of Forsaken fall in battle their numbers are even lower. Pretty damn sure the Forsaken are in no position to be attacking anyone right now.
I hope Metzen's got answers for these because (even though I'm not a roleplayer) the story of Warcraft is still something that's important to my game experience and if it's being butchered it's definitely going to put me off continued play.
Still waiting on the Caverns of Time: Caverns of Time raid instance to be announced. "You have to go back in time to save Nozdormu from Nozdormu who is trying to kill Nozdormu as a last ditch effort to stop the Infinite Dragonflight, a dragonflight created and led by Nozdormu who is also trying to stop Nozdormu from killing Nozdormu."
It's got more potential for changing battle locations than Yogg-Saron's brain room.
