American Gods is one of my favorite books. If you haven't read it yet, pick up Neverwhere by Gaiman.Suicidejim said:American Gods by Neil Gaiman was the last book I read. It's pretty good, all about various gods from around the world trying to survive in modern America, and competing with the 'new' gods of technology, media, etc. I intend to hit the bookstore later in the week though, as books are my primary method of delaying my inevitable shooting spree.
My copy of A Dance With Dragons is arriving tomorrow!anthony87 said:Finished A Clash of Kings a few days ago and now I've started on part one of A Storm of Swords.
The reason why it's featuring specific characters, and entirely missing out other ones we know and love is because he wrote chapters for all those characters, then had to cut it down. That became A Dance With Dragons. It says so at the end of A Feast For Crows.Sparklyfingers said:American Gods is one of my favorite books. I'm about halfway through George R.R Martin's A Feast for Crows at the moment. Not liking it as much as the previous books in the series, but we'll see what happens.
Aha, that makes sense. It would be one colossal book if they were combined. I find it interesting to get some new viewpoints but I'm having a hard time getting invested in the chapters that deal with mostly random characters we see once or twice. The pace is also a lot slower than the other books, in my opinion. It isn't bad, just... different.binnsyboy said:The reason why it's featuring specific characters, and entirely missing out other ones we know and love is because he wrote chapters for all those characters, then had to cut it down. Personally, I thought it was very good.
I thought Eragon already came off as a selfish ass. The whole 'turning into an elf' thing didn't help matters any.NightHawk21 said:Lol I got it for Christmas, but ya at least the story is done took him quite a while. Just wait till you finish it though, the ending makes no sense and completely made the main character seem like a selfish ass.Quaidis said:Oh sure, ruin the ending for me right when I have the last book right...NightHawk21 said:Aside from textbooks, I just finished the last book in the Eragon series like 2 weeks ago. Good book, stupid as shit ending.
Wait a second... That's right! I already assumed that the ending was going to suck simply based on how absolutely terrible Brisingr ended... By the gods, why did I put down money on the fourth book? Curse you, green dragon!!!
