i remember when game companys made games because thay wanted to and dident act like the mafia but with out the pigs head in your bed
I remember a time, where a group of freaks sat together and worked their ass off to make a cool game...

What I see now is just trying to fuck the other company with lawsuits...
Not to put the money they could use on the development of some good game (is it somewhere out there?) and not trying to compare dicks...

It will all go to hell and then out of the ashes new stuff will arise, just hope it will be better...
(wooo, I'm going epic here...)

It me or is Activision acting extremely evil lately?
Ever since they became the largest developer in the industry they've been far worse than EA has even been in my books. I can't help but cheer on Double Fine and wish them all the best in their case.
+1

Hm. Everybody's PO'd at Activision, but thinking about it more. From Activision's side, Double Fine came to them and said, "Hey, we've got this idea for a game. Fund us!" Activision went, "Huh. Not so sure that'll sell, but you've got good cred, we'll give you this much." Double Fine is like, "Yeah sure.." then some time later, "hey, about that money you gave us? We need another 15 grand to finish it."

Activision's like, "What? Sorry, guy, but we just don't think it's gonna be worth that.. make it with what we gave you already."

And then from what I understand, Double Fine basically goes "Well screw you, we'll go somewhere else for what we need," without thinking about the money that Activision already put into the game. They come to EA, who sees that Activision already paid for half or more, and hey, good deal for them, right?

'cept now Activision wants something for that money they put in in the first place, and we all call them evil for that.

Can somebody fill me in if I've gotten anything wrong there?
People aren't calling them evil because they want their money back. People are calling them evil because they are trying to prevent the release of the game. They want to shit in everyone's sandwich.
If they were just suing for money (what would've been the smart move), you wouldn't see this kind of outrage.

Incidentally I'm glad Activision is taking the evil crown from EA. As stupid as they have been, at least there are EA games I like.

Also, I'm fairly sure that Activision dropped Brutal Legend, not the other way around. And then didn't say shit when EA picked it up, only when the game started developing a buzz.

Activision's been acting like children lately. I never thought a publisher could come across as worse than EA, but Activison is doing a beautiful job of it.
Gamers need to stand together and stop buying Activision games for a while, show them if they want to act like this we want nothing to do with them. They'll either grow up or they'll go out of business. Either way it's a "win" in my book.

Ok, maybe I'm being too hard on the guy, it's just that, when I heard a new Tim Schafer title was coming out, months ago, I expected... so much more.
Agreed, I really don't think this game will live up to Pyschonauts standards, or any other of his games. I'm just not hot with the whole metal thing... the style just seems pretty restrictive in terms of imagination and originality. Of course, I could be fatally wrong, but this game still seems a deprature from the sheer wackiness of Schafer's previous games.

Also, your avatar is brilliant.
Thank you, my good sir. Full Throttle was an important part of my late childhood.

Guitar Hero isn't completely terrible, but after playing through the same songs until the chords are popping up in your dreams it's not hard to get tired of it. There's no reason to keep releasing a game that doesn't change, but for different songs that could be released for download.
As far as I'm aware, Brutal Legend isn't going to be a game where you press buttons and pretend you can play a guitar, so why would that stop us from buying more Guitar Hero? Guitar Hero does that fine without help from anyone else.
By the logic that "This game will make people stop buying ours!" they should have sued Rock Band instead of doing the same thing they did.

Also, am I the only one who see's this as a battle of Good vs Evil? Double Fine with their reformed-to-neutral-instead-of-evil EA backers VS the pure evil of Activison?

With the survival of the Good hanging in the balance itself! Seriously, its like a saga or something.
This would be a good movie. Or at least i would watch it.

With EA's Lawful Evil Lawyer/Rogue/Assasin (6/3/10) legal team, I really don't see Activisions Chaotic Evil Lawyer/Fighter/Barbarian (6/4/4) legal team having any chance whatsoever.

+5 to your Nerd score if you understood any of that.

Why does EA have so many higher levels in Assassin than anyone else? And since when is Activision a higher level Lawyer than a flat-out Fighter?

Activision therefore wants the release of Brütal Legend halted, saying it will suffer irreparable harm if EA [http://www.ea.com] is allowed to publish the game.
How is Activision going to suffer irreparable harm from somebody releasing a game they didn't want. Maybe they should sue Valve for releasing Left 4 Dead 2 because it will cause them harm by detracting sales away away from CoD6.
Dude, shut up, stop giving them ideas.

I actually found Psychonauts dull and repetitive but I guess everyone has their tastes. The only reason I care about this is that I would love to see Activision get a legal ***** slap.

I don't really see EA as a multiclass player, they seems more to me to be more strait up barbarians who took the literacy perk.

They better let this game be released, it will probably be the mist successful schafer game in years
Agreed. Psychonauts may not have been successful right up front, but it's been slowly gaining grounds and acclaim ever since it was released, to the extent it may be considered an internet legend. As such, any game created by Shaffer, especially if properly marketed (the reason Psychonauts failed immediately so badly), will likely do great. Hell, I dislike metal, but I'm getting this game (assuming the lawsuit doesn't stop it) just because it's Shaffer.

Okay, that's it.

I've procrastinated for too long. Getting Psychonauts now, and Modern Warfare 2 can sod the hell off.
You can get it (at least temporarily) free on Gametap, along with the original Fallout. The only 2 reasons I haven't deleted GT off my computer yet.

Bought it already, and I don't regret it. It's a fantastic game.

Also, haven't seen you in a while.
