If I'm going to play a game with zero recoil I might as well play this.

People still get impressed with procedural content in this day and age?
I thought that stopped with spore.
Considering the majority of games refuse to give players options like that, yes.

I'm sure the reason why they didn't put female characters in the game is what I call "aim dilemma". Females are usually smaller and therefore are harder to hit when the hitboxes are accurate. Happened in many games before.
According to a interview they planned to include female characters from the get go but ran into some (budget?) problems and decided to just make the male customization as good as possible.

102 Quadrillion variations, but it will probably lead to only about 30 distinctly different looking characters, and then having minor variations on their main look. Mine has a brown hat, yours is maroon sort of a thing.

Also is the game FPS? because then this is kinda pointless, as you will never really see your character...

All of those customizable options, but they couldn't get more than 8 voice actors? >_>"

Unless "packs" means an unspecified number of voices in different catagories like smart ass, insane, smart ect.
I'm hoping so as well, they better have a Russian accent, which i'm sure they will because i saw a russian guy in the cinematic trailer. (the guy that gets squashed by the tank)

also... 26,000 lines of dialogue!? Thats amazing, although i don't know how many lines other games have.

If you actually look at this, it's really not all that impressive - just a big load of marketing bullshit. Lets analyze:

Unique Security Characters (not counting minor tint variations or body types): 4,530,240
Unique Security Characters (not counting minor tint variations but including body types):13,590,720
Unique Security Characters (including minor tint variations, but not body types)15,775,119,360,000,000
Unique Security Characters (including minor tint variations and body types) 47,325,358,080,000,000
The unique characters (with body types) divided by unique characters (without body types) should give us the number of body types available:
3.

*Epic math snip*
Just did the math, and yup, it ends up being only 3 character types. Good show, good show.

Anyway, on the topic of "why are there no female avatars?", I would make the argument that "they would have to remodel/reanimate/etc... everything twice", but I don't really buy that. If their customization is as expansive as they claim, they would have easily been able to plan out the extra X chromosome from the start and trashed a dozen or so shirts. Is having a slightly longer-sleeved shirt more important than having an entire gender be an option?

I would much rather have "56 Quadrillion" male options and "56 Quadrillion" female options than just "106 Quadrillion" options that end up looking the same anyway. 56 for each would allow for more diversity, actually, considering that they probably counted having a "no hoodie" shirt is different from the "hoodie" version of the shirt.

Overall, I'm so-so on this number. Brink still looks interesting, and I'll probably pick it up on a STEAM sale as I do with everything on STEAM.

Umm color changes don't really make a difference, maybe all the different character play styles, that would impress me.

I think they're over compensating for the fact that their multiplayer content lacks one single original idea. Boom.
Parkour? Dynamic individual objectives for every class? I haven't seen those in any other multiplayer games. But thats just me

Yet somehow I see a full 10 quadrillion being nearly identical with the differences in minor tint or hairstyle options.
Not to sound mean, but that's basically what happens in these things, cos they're never really fleshed out in differences, and just add a lot of options to a few differences.

This right here, i remember people would get frustrated in combat arms because they picked the male body type even though the female is MUCH smaller and therefore harder to hit.(also the females were immune to nutshots for obvious reasons.) And you couldn't switch sexes.

For shiggles I decided to try and calculate the number of possible characters in CoH (including minor variants) which quickly led me to remember how big those numbers get quickly so I decided to just count the capes.

5(58(160^2))(2(68(160^2)(160^2)))[footnote]5 Cape types that can each use one of 58 brooches in addition to one of 68 capes each of which has 2 colorable area. Any colorable area can be a combination of 2 color out of 160.[/footnote]
5*58*(160^2)*2*68*(160^2)*(160^2)
580*68*(160^6)
39440*16777216000000
661,693,399,040,000,000

Yeah... exponentiation...

And yet, none of them can be female. :p I must admit that I find it a little annoying that they chose to spend all of that time on making your character as cusomizable as possible without adding an option for boobs. :(
You've probably heard this already, but adding a female option would include re-doing every single last part of the character customization system, and re-doing all of the animations.
They couldn't've planned for that from the beginning?
Given deadlines and budget restrictions, that's not something they can plan.
I figured it'd be an incredibly basic thing to realise.

This is an outrage! This is obviously a snide, purposeful attack on women everywhere, to deny us the ability to create a female character! Insulting!!!
Or it's just more disappointingly gender-biased par-for-the-course bullshit from the American Game Industry!

Off-handedly dismissing people with snark is fun!!! :D
