And yet, none of them can be female. :p I must admit that I find it a little annoying that they chose to spend all of that time on making your character as cusomizable as possible without adding an option for boobs. :(
You've probably heard this already, but adding a female option would include re-doing every single last part of the character customization system, and re-doing all of the animations.
They couldn't've planned for that from the beginning?
Given deadlines and budget restrictions, that's not something they can plan.
It can if they cut every animation and customization for male characters in half and have the same number of unique characters anyway, half for each gender.
Not having female characters in a game is fine, but in a game that dedicates so much to customization, it seems a bit ridiculous to not have the most important option of all.

Although the number is not that impressive, Saints Row 2 has more unique characters. Considering the vast majority of the sliders go from 1 to 100%, and theres over 50 of them, that's already more than the "102 quadrillion" before you factor in clothing options. They just didn't brag about it.

I see where you're coming from, but making a female model would effect a lot more than just customization options. With the budget and time they had to make the game, unfortunately it would've been impossible.

And people still complain about the lack of female characters.
Because they don't understand the amount of work that goes into making a game.

This is exactly why people complain about the lack of female characters, actually. They could find the time to add so much unnecessary tweaks to customisation, yet negate the absolute most basic.
Others have already explained the reasons how it would not be so simple as you say.

I think they're over compensating for the fact that their multiplayer content lacks one single original idea. Boom.

Don't worry, even if they did include female characters people would probably just complain that the "bewbs" slider doesn't go up high enough.

Eh... other devs don't have much of a problem. It's a question of priorities.

I wasn't talking about it being simple. I was just saying they shouldn't have bothered with customisation at all if they're going to neglect the absolute basics.

I like Brink because of the movement system and the team based gameplay, but the fact that it's character customization is that huge makes it even better.
For me it was because it's TF2 with free running and "realistic" elements, as opposed to cartoon. It looks great, and I hope that it turns out to be just as much fun as TF2. If it does, you can guarantee many hours will be spent playing it.
Amen to that brother.

Realistically it's only 9 million (pppffftttff, "only 9 million") and even then, that's two of every character except on a different team, so it's really only "4,530,240". But at least they put in the effort to show me a real number, I was disappointed when borderlands had a metric shittonne of different guns instead of gearbox calculating an actual exact (or at least very close to it) number of things to kill with.

>Including weapon variations in the equation for character appearance variability
Did anyone notice this? Because when removed, the basic number (pre: tints/body types) becomes a lot smaller . . .

This is an outrage! This is obviously a snide, purposeful attack on women everywhere, to deny us the ability to create a female character! Insulting!!!
Problem? :)

Looks good. Just placed my pre-order. Not because of the amount of customisation, but because I need a good FPS that isn't COD or Halo.
