I honestly didn't think I was able to hate the Conservative Government any more than I already did. Seriously, these people put Michael motherfucking Gove as the education secretary, they turn the Lib Dems into nothing more than their Morality Pet for the masses, Student Loan rises, what amounts to health care privitisation, these things are not evidence of an economic solution to our countrie's problems they are indicitive of an overall mindset not suited to this day and age.

And this is just more of the same. The Conservatives do not seem to understand anything about anyone who wasn't born with a fucking silver spoon in their mouth. They are primped, prissy, ivory tower Oxbridge graduating fuckskulls who have not the slightest grasp on reality of any sort.

Not only am I pissed about this from the standpoint of general control of the populace, but I am deeply worried about the ramifications of the government having direct access to your internet preferences, which should scare anyone with half a brain.

Fuck the Conservatives, fuck all their ministers, and fuck their old-man government which dreams of a rose-tinted past we never. FUCKING. HAD!
You sir are a hero.

I really can't see this happening, I mean Gay Porn is one of the last bastions of hope for Tories who are trying to stay in closet.
Theres still plenty of drug fuelled nights with gay strippers. That seems to be popular these days.

This isn't about porn. Nor is it about the children.

This is about control. And frankly, once you take away freedom to use the internet for whatever you want, you're going too far.

You know I knew I was right, but shit, it feels so damn good to hear someone else say it.

Anyone who believes that our conservatives are a legitimate political party (and that is defining "political party" as a group that seeks to make life for the average citizen as safe, secure and healthy as possible) is a fuckwit. And yet, all I see are british people arguing with each other over who is to blame. You know who's to blame? the government. Our most recent labour government rejected it's "old Guard" in favour of that manic little pixie fucker with Darth Mandelson whispering in his ear, becoming a party that primarily concerns itself with simply staying in power.

That's just the problem with PEOPLE - no desire to sacrifice their own personal comforts and benefits in order to benefit the majority. This is why politics in Britain has, for quite a while now, been nothing but smoke, mirrors and patent bullshit spewed by many MP's and officials who are more concerned with good PR and a nice salary than they are with representing the people who run their country. After watching labour edge away from it's old left-leaning, socialism-influenced goals under the command of a few spineless cardboard cut-outs who had already made up their minds about various issues based on the financial interests of corporations offering them a nice big bonus for being good little boys. So, for a few agonising years, we watched labour shit itself inside-out, and now we, somehow, ended up being under the power of the toffs despite the fact that only the minority actually voted for them.

And now we have in power a party that was always motivated by greed with no real need to put on some air of political legitimacy. Everyone is well aware of where the interests of the Tories lie, and those interests lie in giving themselves and their mates a nice pat on the back, because as everyone knows, the rich are richer than us because they are simply better! well educated! more cultured! more sensible and right! and we proles should be thankful that they have deigned to take away all that money and all those public sector jobs we don't deserve. After all, William Hague would really like to buy a fourth home in the country and Cameron and his wife would like to be able to afford a few more holidays a year. We working classes should be thankful, oh yes, that we can help these oh-so-clever people in charge to get what they so clearly deserve for being so much better than us, and we should aspire to try and be more like those wonderful rich people, because, after all, they have the good grace to start up businesses which give us money for our bread and butter, making sure we don't get greedy for more than we have a right to by cutting down on "restrictive" labour laws and reducing health And Safety legislation, so that they can run their lovely enterprises that must be good for the nation without any "burdens on industry". If you loose a hand working a 12-hour shift in a factory because of a lack of attention on health and safety in the workplace, and find yourself now faced with massive bills just for asking the hospital to provide you with your basic right to life, you should just be thankful you have another hand with which you can continue to work for our wonderful, smart, and ever-so-clever masters, wasting our lives paying off the huge debts that they pile on us because they just want what's best for us, the smarmy smug-faced permatanned bunch of uptight bigoted elitists, stuck with such classiest moneygrubbing self-interested snobbish worldview that they don't seem to care that most of the country wants to see them kicked half to death and bled dry slowly by a swarm of ravenous leeches, because they believe that most of the country consists of those bothersome, insolent proles who will never shut the fuck up and do as they're told.

Wow.... If you are doing this "as a mother" why the hell arent you home watching your kids? Instead your off to harrass everyone else. Also, who came up with the idea that sex is a bad thing? I seriously want to know how this preconception made it into society and how to get rid of it....
I'm equally interested to know how violence became more acceptable.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If the Australian net filter is anything to go by, you guys won't see this happen for about 6 years.
That's the opposite of reassuring.

If you don't want your kid looking at porn, use a net nanny. When they're old enough to disable the net nanny, they're old enough to masturbate. I think a lot of kids around puberty would benefit from their birds & the bees talk including a brief mention of how most porn is about as realistic as as the WWE.
This. Note to conservative parents: Kids are going to start getting sexual long before they hit the age of consent. Deal with it, and stop placing restrictions on something that you don't understand.

This is slowly proving the theory that "hardship builds character" a conservative official is very unlikely to have undergone any kind of hardship whatso-fucking-ever.
As for your reply to me: I have no clue. Its a strange message we send when a movie that has one, true to reality, sex scene is MUCH worse than any amount of gratuitous violence. Repression of natural human instincts leads to depression, and these kids see violence as the only way to relive it because thats all they are allowed to see. Its the quickest way to create a troubled kid, and I dont know how any amount of watching sex could cause some one to be demented as much as violence ever would. Its all backwards!
Also, I hate how people support hypocrisy with such enthusiasm. Some people just have a diffrent and more open mindset than them. Deal with it. We can deal with all their superficial values if they dont actually go as far as to DO something about it. I dont know much about british politics but I can see alot of whats going on in your... oh I hate to call it this.... "rant." Its an endless back and forth with nobody winning except those who know how to skew the game in thier favor. Everyone except the one closest to home is your enemy, and even the one closesto to you could be in your pocket. Stupid enforced debts, "for your own good" laws, and people never acting outside of what they think their neibor would approve of.
But hell, I would be lying if I was saying I though this was the worst place to live. You trade one evil for another where ever you go.

The British seem to love an all-powerful central government that controls most aspects of their lives, so this doesn't come as a surprise. Another terribly invasive idea that takes away freedoms from individuals and won't solve any problems, while commercial avenues for this sort of thing already exist. There aren't just home software solutions, but at least there used to be ISPs that specifically advertised that they'd do this for you.
Yyeeeaaahhhh, you might want to actually meet some British people and not just learn about them from what you see on Family Guy. No, most of us Brits do not want this. We have our share of scaremongers and 'It's for the children' campaigners as any other country, but they are not the majority and never will be.

The general public do not want the above, a vocal minority probably do.
I certainly wouldn't want it, either, but all I have to do is look at the sorts of laws on the books and the way the government is run in the UK to define it very easily as a society that likes government to solve all its problems, and thus you'll get people proposing and supporting laws like this. I know it's not the orthodox view, with some trying to say this is a 'conservative' issue, but there's nothing conservative or small government about censorship, and I apply that reasoning to the sorts of ridiculous laws that get proposed here in the US as well.

The United States is right behind you in that regard, with a very vocal group of people trying to push as much power into the hands of their elected officials as fast as they possibly can.

But leave Family Guy out of it. That's a wonderfully stupid show!
Wasn't knocking Family Guy. Its my fav program, but their view on the British is (intentionally of course) stereotypical (to great comic effect) :) I can however imagine there are some people who assume Family Guy is documentary fact and that all Brits live in castles, have butlers and wear dinner suits and bowler hats :) We do not, in fact, wear bowler hats (often) ;-)

the only way you'll be able to look at the boobs online is to go on record with your internet provider admitting that you are, in fact, a porn hound.
I thought that people freely admitted to this anyways?
Well, one difference is that your ISP knows your real name.

Also, big no to censorship, parents should be parents, rabble rabble etc.

What's with the governments trying to censor things like this? They almost never win.
Don't they have more important things to do?

Yeah I can see how well this is going to work out. Prohibition always works perfectly, and never has any drawbacks - EVER.

"This is the wrong way to go. If the government controlled a web blacklist, you can bet that Wikileaks would be on it," said Jim Killock, executive director of the Open Rights Group. "This is not about pornography, it is about generalized censorship through the back door."

B. I. N. G. and O.

What, too cynical?

Any parent who complains to their ISP about their children being allowed access to pornographic material online should have their internet access suspended until they learn how to manage their children's internet access properly.

It won't work. If the full force of the US Government can't stop us seeing WikiLeaks, there is no way in hell our government can censor the other 99.9% of the net. Plus, people (and kids) can and will proxy past the filter, making it expensive, useless and unneeded.

I can hack through the school programs that block the inappropriate sites, (supposedly the gov. made the program) its not that hard, if this passes, all the kids will know this method too, it'll be an exposed private handshake.
Any tips?

Such a stupid idea, how else are all us British male's (and indeed females, it is the 21st century after all) going to get our fill of wonderful voluptuous titties.

I think it's inhumane to ban boobs, it'd be like taxing air or raising student fees (wait a second...)

And it's not going to stop people from just using proxies to fool their ISP's either.

If porn wasn't such a titanic demand, we wouldn't have this problem.

Don't know if this stuff works for every comp, but try putting an "s" after the "http", sometimes its an "n" and sometimes its inside of the "http"

Also, having porn as an optional extra to an internet package is like having your meat cooked as an optional extra for a steak house.

It literally makes no sense, also it'll be ages before most people could be surfing the porno wave once again because no doubt IP call centres will be chock full of people calling up to ask to be given back their god given right to watch boobies waggle around on the computer.

To be completely honest it smacks of Orwell's 1984
