I like that the actor actually has enthusiasm for the game and has actually played the previous ones (unlike every other ME VA).

I hate his character, though. Terrible design, terrible writing. He seems like a decent VO, but Bioware is just making him my Carmine: ME3 Edition.

Though, with my squad consisting of Liara and Garrus constantly, I doubt it'll make any difference.
How could you possibly know what his writing is like from the 5 seconds you've seen? Really? Tell me my time traveling friend. What is March 2012 like?

As long as Mathew Lillard is no where in sight, I think we may be alright.

Maybe Bioware put him in the game just so that players could kill someone off and not feel remotely sad about it.

Unremarkable character, voiced by unremarkable actor in a game that doesn't need any more bad decisions. It's funny that a first thing that comes to my mind when I hear Freddy Prinze Jr. is Spoony screaming his lungs out, immediately followed by Buffy. Looks like a decent VO though. His voice is remarkably appropriate.

I was worried, until he started talking quite deeply about the characters including their names. Seeing as how he has played the previous two games, makes me think he'll put 100% into his in-game character.

Ah, Freddie Prinze Jr., the hottest talent of 1999.

I wasn't aware of the Wing Commander movie, but as far as voice acting goes, who can forget Delgo? Other than everybody, that is.

She doesn't need no man-lizard to do her face punching, she can do all the face punching herself.
This is absolutely my quote of the week, and I feel the same (well, I guess you'd have to change "man-lizard" to "man-frog"). Video Games bring some odd phrases into our lives...

But yeah, my FemShep is going to beat the stuffing out of him for his crime of being so insufferably visually boring in a game full of visually interesting characters. Seriously. You have a game with characters ranging in color, shape and stature from Asari to Krogen to Hanar, and you think the missing element is Marcus Fenix with his goatee shaved off?

It is interesting to me that he is the only new male character, and BioWare said they were going to create male, homosexual romance options... So if they don't retcon the sexualities of other characters, is ol' beefcake here the only option for gay characters? Is "bear" the only flavor of gay man they can write? I know for an absolute fact that that's no true. Because Dragon Age 2. That's why.

A little disconcerting that I remember him more from that one episode of friends he was in than from either of the scooby doo films.

Cool, I guess i'll be one of the only people who'll actually attempt to use him then. But that's probably because i'm not bothered by the fact that he has more muscles than I do. I swear, every time they put a tough soldier in their games, people scream "boring" no matter what they try with the character. I wouldn't be surprised if they just said "fuck this" and only put in muscle bound freaks just to show you how bad a game with the things people have been saying about their characters would be.

Sorry I didn't make this plain enough for you.

I watched the video and didn't like the style of his writing that they presented. Do I really need to spell that out? You are supposed to logically infer that from my statement. Sure, it'll have one of those, "Oh, I'm so much more deep than I appear" ME2 facades. Jack is the best example of it, and they did it absolutely terribly from a writing perspective. Shallow and meaningless.

No! Don't they remember what happened the last time he was in space!?
Can they possibly have forgotten the terror of Wing Commander!?

Besides, his role in 24 was much more memorable and worthy of mockery than his part in Scooby Doo.

Oh, my beloved gamers. I never doubt your ability to judge how good/bad something is when you see a few screenshots and 30 seconds of footage of the character.

Buffy's Hubby Joins Mass Effect 3 Cast

Freddie Prinze, Jr. will stand by Shepard's side as muscle-bound military man James Vega.

Mass Effect 3's voice cast already boasts some pretty impressive names (Tricia Helfer, Seth Green, Martin Sheen, Adam Baldwin, and Claudia Black just to name a few), but up until now, most have been carry-overs from the previous two games. Still, it was only a matter of time before Bioware started introducing players to the new blood, and it looks Sarah Michelle Gellar's husband, actor Freddie Prinze, Jr., is the first on its list.

As the Illusive Man once said, it's important that Commander Shepard be "surrounded with the brightest, the toughest, the deadliest allies" around, so who better than Fred from the Scooby Doo movie Freddie Prinze, Jr. as James Vega! You might remember Mr. Vega, a soldier who knows nothing of intergalactic politics, from a reveal last year [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/111695-BioWare-Unveils-New-Muscle-Bound-Mass-Effect-3-Character] by Bioware's Casey Hudson in celebration of reaching 10,000 followers on Twitter.

Prinze, Jr. speaks a little about his role In the Bioware featurette below, mentioning that "sometimes you just want to be evil," and that "sometimes you want to punch somebody." Based on what we've seen of James "I Just Vacuumed All the Air Out of My T-Shirt" Vega, and Mr. Prinze, Jr.'s comments, it seems pretty clear that Shepard's new companion will be more interested in braining than brains when he joins your party come March 6th.
