Surprisingly there's a decent amount of well informed people on this thread who must've created a Tumblr account at some point and found that it is literally whatever you want it to be. And then there's people who spend their time writing essays on why someone else is defining their sexuality wrong, that's dumb.
I have a tumblr account, I follow a guy who posts all these vintage comic book covers, because I like comics and seeing how they change over the years. I follow a bunch of food porn blogs, because I cook professionally and the sight of a well toasted creme brûlée gets me hard (kidding). I follow my sister in law because she's an incredibly talented graphic artist and a wonderful, empathetic person, so I know whenever she posts anything social justice related that it matters and I should probably educate myself on it. I follow a blog about being a sexual assault survivor, because it helps knowing that you've got (unfortunately) lots of other people who know what you're going through. Oh and I follow a few regular porn blogs, because as far as I'm concerned Tumblr is one of the best porn platforms on the internet; precise and descriptive tags, blogs for any conceivable fetish, no bullshit lead up, just whatever you're into, and lots of it. Seriously I would've thought the Tumblr hate might've lessened a bit just because of that.
I've seen way more radicalism and dumb, ignorant hatred in these forums then on my tumblr dash, because I don't follow people like that. And It's frankly worrying that we've come to a point where feminism and caring about social justice have become bad things, sure armchair activists are annoying, but at least they don't think they're too cool to give a shit. I'm honestly curious how many people here who say that tumblr hates all white men or whatever have actually created an account and seen any evidence of that. Because you have to SEARCH for that shit, like it's not even in the normal feminism tags because the people who moderate those tags don't want that toxic shit mixing with their reasonable message of equality. I've used tumblr for years and I'm a white, straight, Aryan-looking dude. Surely I should've been burned in effigy before now by the hordes of radical feminist other kin? No of course not, I've never even received an unkind anon message, and those are all over the fucking place, on any site like this.
And I'll say this for the large majority of the Tumblr user base, they wouldn't consider posting a bunch of gore porn and rape media on tags meant specifically for survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse. You want to make a counter argument to that go ahead, rape is real, flashbacks are real, and dragging people back to the worst experience of their lives is unforgivable. Shame on whatever human offal in /b/ thought that was a good idea. Notice I didn't indict an entire user base of a popular website. Because that's fucking stupid.
